OVERVIEW

Plucking sucks. Every single string you pluck on stage to tune between songs kills the vibe, driving a dagger through the heart of your show. The momentum of everything you've built up to since stepping on stage crumbles all around you as the crowds' excitement dies.

The HT-6 Polyphonic Tuner takes you from tuning to tuned, faster by showing you the status of each individual string after one strum. With the HardWire HT-6, one strum and you are on to do what you came to, play.

HardWire Pedals include the following stage accessories:
Pedal Switch Glow Sticker helps you locate the pedal in adverse stage lighting
Custom-cut Hook and Loop pedal board Pad to attach and lock your pedals to your pedal board

One strum is all it takes to get in tune.

FEATURES
  • True-bypass circuitry preserves your tone when bypassed
  • Five tuning modes: Standard, Drop-D, 4-string, 5-string, and 6-string bass
  • Intuitive display with 90 LEDs (15 per string) so you can quickly see which strings need to be tuned
  • 9V battery operation with constant high-voltage rails
  • 9V DC Power output for power chains (cable optional)
  • Patented Pedal Release Pins for fast access to battery compartment
  • Rugged, all-metal construction for durability

I'll start by making sure you know the purpose of a polyphonic tuner, as I've seen it used incorrectly to a fault:

The best purpose of a tuner's polyphonic tuning mode is in between songs, or for a quick spot-check of tuning. During a gig, I will just give it a quick strum and let the polyphonic mode let me know if there are any glaring mistakes, which the HT-6 does correctly and accurately. If something sounds awry during a song, I'll do a quick-click of it (I use the mute mode, not the thru-mode), and a quick strum check to see if something is obviously out of whack.

What the polyphonic mode ISN'T intended to do is for tuning before a gig or when you have time. The reason being is that the accuracy of polyphonic tuning is not as accurate as the single-string tuning mode. No polyphonic tuner is. I can have polyphonic mode tell me I'm right on, but single string tuning could have me half a cent flat or sharp, but poly doesn't notice. This is intended. You won't notice close inaccuracies in performances and it gets you close to in tune on the go. If you find a string is way off, the easiest way to get it back is to single string tune it.

I love the detection mode in this tuner. It gives you full display tuning of a single string if you just play a single string.

Very intuitive, very accurate, and if you know what a polyphonic tuner is intended to be used for, it can save you a bad sounding song or two! :) (ask me how I know)

I bought this because it was a SDOTD, I wanted a tuner for a backup pedalboard and the reviews were pretty good. It's my third pedal tuner. I also own the TC Polytune 2 and the Boss TU2. When tuning one string at a time, the Boss and the TC catch the notes much faster. that's not to say that this doesn't get the job done, but the slow tracking combined with the large footprint will prevent this from ever being part of my main board. In full disclosure, when checking all the strings it picks up very quickly. I'd stick with the TC if I ever needed another.

New product arrived in non-working condition. I registered it, and sent it in for warranty service. The item they sent me works properly, but was used, with scratches and other signs of use. I don't think I will buy another DigiTech product.

This pedal works great and the LEDs look really cool. I've only used it a couple of times. Using the polyphonic mode results in close enough to spot-on single string tuning.

This is, in my opinion, a great tuner, especially if you find it at a 'stupid deal of the day' price. I replaced another tuner on my pedalboard (which I really liked) with this one! It is great for 'between song tune checks' as it mutes output when engaged, and one quick strum of all strings immediately shows you if any need re-tuning. If one is slightly out, just tune that one & you're done!

Comments about DigiTech Hardwire Series HT-6 Polyphonic Pedal Tuner:

Polyphonic mode simply doesn't work very well. Even when this pedal told me that all 6 strings were in tune, my ear told me (quite emphatically) that they were not. Single string tuning was also more difficult compared to other tuners because of the type of display. Forget about this piece of junk & buy a Boss TU-series tuner.

Comments about DigiTech Hardwire Series HT-6 Polyphonic Pedal Tuner:

I bought this to use as a standalone tuner when playing acoustic guitar. I am a worship leader, and I have a TU-3 on my pedalboard that I use for my electric rig. Recently, I've been playing acoustic more and pulling my TU-3 of whenever I need to use it. I bought this as the Stupid Deal of the Day, and have been using it consistently since. It's fast to tune and accurate, and being able to adjust the fret calibration quickly is a really convenient feature. It provides me with information quick so I can strum between songs and know if I need to pause to tune or not. The only issue I've had is when playing in front of a monitor with a keyboard/pad playing. The vibrations from the monitor sometimes trick the tuner into think i'm strumming instead of tuning a single note. This is most apparent on the B and high E strings, the other ones don't have this issue as much. A feedback buster in the soundhole might help, but I haven't tried that yet. Also, I've noticed some scratches on the plastic over the display pretty quickly. I suppose I just got too used to having my Boss pedal and tossing it in my backpack and not worrying about it. The build quality is still nice, just might want to baby this one a little more to keep it looking fine.
