OVERVIEW

The ClipLock lets you hook it up and release it fast and positively.

The fabric conforms to your body and adds a new level of comfort, yet it is strong enough to hold over 150 pounds!

Nylon ClipLock Quick Release Guitar Straps adjust in length from 43 to 63 inches (109 -160 cm), measured between the strap buttons.

DiMarzio ClipLock Quick Release Guitar Straps were the first to feature the heavy-duty plastic clip that allows you to easily change from guitar to guitar with a little fingertip pressure. It is the most secure and unique fastening method available to safeguard your guitar.

ClipLock Quick Release Guitar Straps have been used for years by Steve Vai, Joe Satriani, Yngwie Malmsteen, John Petrucci and many other professional musicians.

They are the industry standard for strength, security and quality. ClipLock Quick Release Guitar Straps completely replace your strap buttons and attach securely to your guitar with two sturdy bushings and extra-long screws sized to fit the strap bushing screw holes on most electric guitars and basses.

All ClipLock straps are 2" wide.

I have been playing guitar for about 23 years now and I've used tons of guitar straps during that time, including everything from cheap no-name ones to fancy, hand-tooled Italian leather ones with silver buckles and custom engraved lettering in a fancy typeface. I can use any strap I choose, and this is what I choose to use.

I probably don't need to point out the fact that Steve Vai endorses these straps and uses them exclusively, because I'm sure that probably half of the guitarists who use these do so because he does, or at least that was their reason for checking them out originally. Now, it's quite possible that he started using these because DiMarzio paid him to, or maybe it was just because they began supplying him with free ones so that they could use him for cheap product placement advertising. Whatever the reason, Steve strives for absolute perfection and while I doubt such a thing can exist in a guitar strap (hence the reason for my four-star rating here), I haven't found a better alternative. Believe me when I say that I've looked around a lot, too.

There's not much to these straps, really, but what's there works great, so long as you have a little knowledge about them. First of all, they're nylon (although they do come in leather versions, if you're loaded with cash) and they're plenty sturdy. Think seatbelt material here. They have two ends which come with two sets of mounting hardware (black with large black washers and screws that are ideal for Ibanez guitars and silver with white washers and silver screws that work with most other guitars) and the ends are intended to replace your strap buttons permanently. The strap itself clicks into the ends with quick-release clips like those found on those awful "fanny packs" that were a big hit in the 80s. They're very secure and eliminate the need for straplocks completely, which I was never fond of, because straplocks tend to be a hassle to install and pretty much always damage your strap during installation.

The only real issue with these straps is that the ends of the fasteners (the part that attaches to the guitar) has a bad reputation for scratching and chipping the paint off your guitars, often times when they're in their cases. However, I have devised a (somewhat) elegant solution to this dilemma. First off, you'll need either a decent-sized sheet of bubble wrap (the kind with the smaller bubbles works best) or some sort of foam padding material that comes in (or can be cut to) rectangles that are about 1-inch wide and 2 1/2-inches to 3 inches long. Wrap the bubble wrap or foam padding around the hard plastic plastic part of the fastener ends and then wrap tape around the wrap or padding. If you cover the end of the plastic clip, you will make "padded ends" that you should be able to remove easily when you want to clip on the strap. Also, if you simply tape around the sides and leave the open end of the clip accessible, you can actually put the strap on the ends without removing it. This is what I've been doing for years and I haven't had a single issue with paint damage.

All in all, these are great straps and I can clearly see why the pros use them, all endorsements aside. The fact that they come in a wide variety of colors makes them fairly easy to match to all your guitars (and even to mix and match colors, i.e. blue strap with green and red ends, etc.). Also, the ability to buy additional fastener ends (which are currently $7.95 - I just placed an order for some more a few minutes ago) means that you can use the same strap for multiple instruments, which makes a good product at a low price all that much more of a bargain. If you install them correctly and keep the hard plastic clips away from your guitar's finish, they will serve you well for years on end.

By the way, I should note that I am in no way affiliated with DiMarzio. In fact, I prefer Seymour Duncan pickups. However, DiMarzio are experts at making straps.

The issue with these straps is that the ends that remain attached to your guitar when you separate the strap at its clips will rub up against your guitar in its case or during general handling and potentially scratch its finish. If you don't care about that, then it isn't a problem. However, I do like to try to avoid causing unnecessary damage to my instrument.

Also, this particular strap is not very comfortable. In my opinion, one should spend a little more money to get a comfortable strap and a separate strap lock system that will allow for one to completely disengage your strap from their guitar.

I have no reason to believe that these straps, particularly the clips, are not durable. However, I would rather trust the metal mechanisms of other strap lock systems than the plastic clips offered with this unit.

You get what you pay for, and you can absolutely buy better.

Comments about DiMarzio 2" Nylon ClipLock Guitar Strap:

Comfortable, functional, and reasonably priced strap that works well for practice and live. But, what I REALLY DISLIKE is that the fastener notch tabs are washered/ hemmed and require that you have to remove the anchor screws on both strap fasteners on your guitar and use the ones provided- meaning that at all times whether you have a strap on or not, you have the 2 plastic clip lock ends flapping around...

By comparison, Fort Bryant used to sell a knock-off click-lock strap that actually uses "leather fasteners" with simple threaded loop holes that don't require modifying your guitar. I've used those during my gigging days, and never had a guitar fall off- very solid. And, I have several of these, but I cannot seem to find any more on the market. So, I replaced the Dimarzio ends straps with those leather ones. And, now, this product is fully functional.

Dimarzio, please consider using leather ends and not forcing customers to use the washer/ screw. A simple opening on a leather end works fine and is very secure.

Not a good strap despite the good reviews

      By MyBalls

      from VA

Comments about DiMarzio 2" Nylon ClipLock Guitar Strap:

I'll be frank. I wonder why this strap has so many good reviews, and I'm guessing that its just a bunch of kids that want to like this product because one of their heroes gets payed to endorse it. First off, hang your guitar on this strap, now hang it on a leather strap. Enough said. One thing I really like about the material is that it slides well, but the difference in comfort compared to leather is immense. If your a working musician who stands for hours at a time, you'll appreciate these things. Second, the lower buckle in standing position, grinds against the guitar. Use this strap for any amount of time, and your guitar is going to get its paint grinded off. All for what? A cheap clip lock guitar strap? You know you can just get strap locks and buttons and install it on your favorite strap, no altering the guitar required. Third, if you point the guitar vertically, say the way Slash does during his solos, the upper buckle will roll over your collar bone. Doesn't feel too good. Though if your fat like Yngwie, you might not feel it. Fourth, if your a small person, this strap wont adjust very short. At its shortest setting, I needed it shorter. Fifth, do you know how dumb it looks to get on stage and "clip" your guitar onto your body like its a pair of suspenders? This strap does not work for me, though if you are built different perhaps you wont run into the same issues I had. For those who complain that the screw hangs too far out of your guitar, you might want to consider using the original screw and felt pad that was on your guitar to begin with. Good day.

Probably the best locking strap for the price.
The clips and the fact that it screws right in to place make it a solid unit. The material that it is made of is heafty and will surely take all that you could throw at it.
Through the time I have spent using it on my Dean ML I would say that I will not need to own any other strap.

Got this strap (black) to compliment a rebuilt for an old guitar -- I got 3 Dimarzio pick ups on it, so I figure I should complete the set to give it some consitency. It surely complements it very nicely. The strap is very confortable, stylish and best of all it stays on -- always. It is flexible enough that it fits very nicely in the guitar case (hard case).

Comments about DiMarzio 2" Nylon ClipLock Guitar Strap:

I'm 5'6" and at its shortest length, the guitar is hanging just above my hips. Unless the average guitarist is 7 feet tall, or is average height but likes to play with the guitar at his knees, it really doesn't need to be this long.

Otherwise, it's a strap. Just special order the "extra-short" version if you're short like me. Musician's Friend has just such an order on the way for me now.

Or if you don't want to wait, have a tailor shorten it for you. Should only cost 2-5 buckz.

Comments about DiMarzio 2" Nylon ClipLock Guitar Strap:

The good stuff first. Assembly was easy, and there is no danger of the guitar falling. Pretty much, the product does what it claims, and is well made. My only problem is the nylon neck strap. It's as comfortable as a nylon strap can be. As expected, its gonna cut into your neck after awhile, but should not come as any surprise to anyone. This is still a good deal for the price.

Comments about DiMarzio 2" Nylon ClipLock Guitar Strap:

For starters, I have been using these straps for years now, and I have never had a single issue. They're incredibly solid and very comfortable. I've seen strap locks fail. Strap locks that are, themselves, more expensive than this strap. This strap has never once failed on me, or even worried me in the slightest that it might. I see all these reviews of people compaining that the clips scratch and wear your finish, and it makes me wonder if they actually used one for an extended period, or if they just made the assumption. I have had these on numerous guitars, from thick laquer finishes, to very thin nitro finishes, and not a single one shows ANY sort of wear from the clips. One review said that it wore the finish of his gutiar from rubbing in the case. The problem with that is, if you have a case that fits your guitar as it should, it won't move around, and you'd have nothing to worry about. Sure, there are more comfortable straps out there, but I would rather pay less for a strap with a clearly superior locking system than spend double (if not more) on a leather strap and some strap locks that likely won't be as stable. Bottom line, these straps are amazing for the money. I would gladly pay double for these. They won't damage your finish, and you will never have to worry about dropping your guitar.

Wow. This Strap lock is just perfect. It's locked in tight to your guitar with extra long screws, so you can flip your guitar and you know it's not going anywhere! If you wana just sit down and play you can just clip off most of the strap for comfort, I like that a lot.
Overall: amazing cheap price for an amazing strap
I just bought my second one!

Comments about DiMarzio 2" Nylon ClipLock Guitar Strap:

I've been using these exclusively since 1995, and will never use anything else. On a few occasions, I *have* tried other straps (when they're given to me as gifts and whatnot), and I always end up going back to my DiMarzio ClipLocks. They've never let me down.

Now, if you've never used one, you might be worried about the ends staying permanently attached to the guitar, but worry not. I've never had a problem with them fitting safely inside my guitar case. If you're concerned about the butt-end clip scratching your finish, then just put your string-cleaning cloth (you do clean your strings after every use, right!?) between the guitar body and the clip after you've set it in the case.

As a side note... if you're keen on spinning your guitar over your shoulder (I'm not), this is definitely the strap you need
These things are nearly indestructable. I've YET to break one or have it fail in any way. Lighter colors WILL show dirt after some years, which is why I've always bought black. I've not experimented with washing them in the washer, but I'd imagine it's perfectly okay to do so.
                  Amazing value at this price.

I use one on my PRS Tremonti SE, one on my Spector Legend 5 Classic, and one on my Fleabass Street. No problems, extremely comfortable standing or sitting and it sits just right on my shoulder and back to evenly distribute the weight, keeping my guitar and both of my basses right where I want them when I'm playing. Excellent product!
For anyone who enjoys having a bedazzled, bullet-ed or 10 lb leather strap, look elsewhere. For serious musicians who want a comfortable, reliable and cheap strap with no lack in quality, look no further.
They took something simple and perfected it. No lack of quality whatsoever.
Good price for the best strap money can buy. Excellent deal.

Comments about DiMarzio 2" Nylon ClipLock Guitar Strap:

Overall the strap is the most heavy duty and durable strap I've ever owned but I wish the screws were durable because my screwdiver messed up the groove of the screw and thus I had some problems installing it.
i like the buckles and the strap.
The strap itself feels like a seat belt which means that is super soft and very durable. The cliplocks are heavy duty and tough. The part where to install on the guitar were a SOB to put on I had a hard time puttting them on.
The value was amazing and I would of expected more money for the strap but its a steal!

Did I mention how epic the camo strap is....don't get it because you will be copying me...feel free to select any of the others though
Very simple and rugged, I trust this strap to hold up my action...if your strap fails once, it is one time to many....that is why I got this thing...sure it is just a fancy seat belt, but they come in cool colors (I got the Camoflage and it is uber cool) You have to actually break out a philips screwdriver but the 2 minutes is totally worth it
Not a lot of bells and whistles here folks, but all of the materials and construction are top notch. For the price, you cannot get a better or more secure strap. Look at all the reviews, there is a reason this strap is sold more than all the others. If you likke (or love) your guitar, this is a GREAT insurance policy. Straps get worn, the eyes get loose and one day in the middle of a gig....WHAM!!!! your strap slips off the knob....that sucks....not with this strap, I could litterally hang from this one without hope of it becoming detached. If you do want to detach it, just work the clip...but I warn you this aint some cheesy plastic flimsy clip, it is a strong plastic clip and it can pinch the tar out of your finger if you manipulate it wrong. Be fair warned, this is the tradeoff and price we pay for security.
This was a great deal, no regrets...I love it...perfect gigging strap

Comments about DiMarzio 2" Nylon ClipLock Guitar Strap:

When looking for a locking strap system, most people will turn to Dulop straplocks or Schaller locks. They require an additional strap, which means that the ends can, and eventually will, start to stretch and the locks fall out. Dimarzio ClipLocks avoid that problem, and they are solid as a rock. I play in a Christian hard rock band, and have one of these on my backup guitar, which I use for a guitar swing (unnecessary, but a crowd pleaser). Although most people don't need straps for this purpose, that kind of reliability is there. The only con to this strap is how thin the strap is. It can scratch your neck up if your guitar swings around much in a show. Other than that, this is a solid strap that you can trust.

Amazing straps. I was breaking and bending screws from different stap locks i was using and decided to try these. They're the best and i will continue to only use these on stage and in the studio. My only complaint is that they dont hold my guitar/bass as high as im used to so i wish they would make a smaller size.

I purchased the gray one and I love it. The strap included with my guitars and bass are often too small, and this ClipLock strap is perfect for a bigger guy like me. I don't throw it around like I see other reviews mentioning, but I can tell it is sturdy, easy to install, and the best I've used. Worth it.
