Comments about DiMarzio DP155 Tone Zone Humbucker Pickup:
This pickup is exactly what it is claimed to be and more. It is alive and incredibly responsive to both the pick attack and volume settings. No muddiness or "motor boat" bottom end clutter. Even when using high gain amps there is no micro-phonic feedback common to other pickup brands.

Comments about DiMarzio DP155 Tone Zone Humbucker Pickup:
Very happy with this pickup. I put it in my Dean ML-X bridge position, since the stock PU was very wimpy, and am now getting great classic rock and blues tones out of it. Like a lot of people I think it is not a great pickup for extreme metal, but good for nearly everything else. I experienced no muddy tonal problems as reported by a few reviewers. This pickup is extremely responsive to pick attack and volume knob adjustment. I can go from lightly distorted blues tone a la SRV to full-on AC/DC without touching my amp. Proper set up height is important - I found that a hair more than 1/8 inch to be about right for me. Superb pickup for the nuanced rock or blues player.

Comments about DiMarzio DP155 Tone Zone Humbucker Pickup:
This is my third TZ purchase from MF. This pickup now is in all three of my Gibson guitars. I've read that it could be muddy in an LP. I COMPLETELY disagree! I just installed one in my 95'LP Standard, and I couldn't be happier. The stock Gibson 498t in my opinion was always an excellent pickup, but over the years it seemed to lose some 'umph'.
I wanted to replace the pickup with another 498t, but aside from cost, I couldn't get the cosmetic option I needed, so I looked for other pickups that utilized the same Alnico V magnet that the 498t did. I had already installed TZs in my other two Gibson Vs, and was exceedingly satisfied.
As I mentioned, I initially read that the TZ in an LP could be muddy so I strayed from this idea. After reading positive Dimarzio Super Distortion reviews I thought I would give it a shot. I had the SD in my LP for roughly 3 mos. Although it sounded 'decent', it just didn't have that Gibson vibe anymore that I was use to. I felt it was to cold and clear. I made NUMEROUS adjustments to the pickup in a vain attempt to get it to sound good, and it just never happened.
I then read on here from ONE reviewer who said he thought the TZ in his LP was oustanding, and not at all muddy. Shortly after learning that Dimarzio was now making this pickup in the color I needed, I went for it and bought one last week from Musician's Friend.
I just installed the pickup approx. two hours ago and I couldn't be any happier! It sounds KILLER. Just like my 498t use to, but even bigger in the lower frequencies, yet still exuding excellent balance. I just love how much more 'crunchy'it is then the Super Distortion p/u, yet just as clear and articulate. In addition I just ajdusted the height once..and it was was perfect!
This is a GREAT Dimarzio product, maybe one of their best pickups, and MF has a great sale on them right now.

Comments about DiMarzio DP155 Tone Zone Humbucker Pickup:
I bought this for the bridge of my Ibanez S420 as a replacement for the stock INF pickup. Works as an excellent bridge pickup (my S stays in C Standard) keeping clarity at high gain, in low tunings. Pinch harmonics are a breeze, and the install is simple.
Comments about DiMarzio DP155 Tone Zone Humbucker Pickup:
my opinion of dimarzio and having read the reveiws prior to purchase have to say, when musicians are putting these pickups in gibson les pauls and raving about it, I was sold. Brought new life to my guitar.
get f spacing for the rear as the strings are wider so I just learned something new, but about this pickup which I paired up w/ the fresh air norton 193 in the neck. I now have a brand new schecter c1+,screams,awesome.
Comments about DiMarzio DP155 Tone Zone Humbucker Pickup:
The tonal balance is really amazing. The dynamic range is outstanding and when you dig in on solos the pickup really excels, this is where it truly speaks. Cuts through without falling apart into harshness. The compression curve as you play harder is just perfect. I actually thought it would be too thick based on reviews I'd read but the heavier lows and mids shown on the website translate more to presence and the pickup shows no signs of ever loading up. I've long time been a fan of the Super Distortion and still am as well as the AT-1 Andy Timmons for bridge pickups but the Tone Zone has edged its way into 1st place favorite for me. All three are pretty much "can't go wrong" bridge pickups, but man the Tone Zone is the most expressive pickup I've ever played through .... awesome !
Dimarzio's quality is, as always, flawless
They are the only pickup company I've use to replaced my OEM gear for over 20 years.
Comments about DiMarzio DP155 Tone Zone Humbucker Pickup:
This review may seem glowing, but I do not know how else to review it. I've been replacing pickups in my two Gibson Flying Vs. One V I replaced the stock Gibson ceramics with the Seymour Duncan JB-4, and the neck pickup with the Seymour Duncan 59' Jazz. Overall a nice upgrade from the ceramics..especially if you are looking for a warmer, more vintage tone..
However, the other V saw me replacing the Gibson 498t bride pickup with this Dimarzio DP-155 'Tone Zone' bridge pickup. The difference is astounding. I would have to say that this new Dimarzio pickup is one of the BEST bridge pickups I have ever heard. Its overall tone quality is FAR greater then the SD JB-4 exuding clearer, warmer and seemingly hotter tones. The JB4 saw me adjusting the pickup height and pole pieces to find a good compromise. But this Tone Zone pickup sounded awesome right out of the box with virtually no adjustments required. I even liked this pickup more then Gibson's 498t which in itself is great sounding, well balanced pickup.
I will be returning the JB4 in my one V and replacing it with this new Dimarzio pickup. I strongly recommend this pickup if you like that hot rodded Gibson/Marshall tone..the kind of tone that has permeated some of the greatest hard rock/metal tones of the past!
Comments about DiMarzio DP155 Tone Zone Humbucker Pickup:
I like a pick up with a little more out put and less bass. Overall, great pick up.
Great pick up. I am able to get 70's tone, 80's shred, blues, modern day shred tones with this pick up. Great harmonics and I love the way it makes the lower strings sound like a fat strat. Respondes very well to your picking. Cleanes up very well also.
Comments about DiMarzio DP155 Tone Zone Humbucker Pickup:
If you want a warm , chunky, responsive, and full bodied pickup, definitely check out a tone zone.
I bought two of these, one for each of my new Ibanez RG1420F prestige guitars for the bridge position. The stock Ibanez V6F's were pretty nice, but this pickup is just so full bodied and harmonically rich through my Soldano SLO. My other Ibanez signature models (Jems, PGM) already have Dimarzios installed, (evolutions, breeds, and PAF pros- which are just awesome pickups) but this was my first taste of the tone zone, and I'm extremely happy with the sound. Just a very full, warm, and harmonically rich pickup. Highly recommended, and lives up to the hype and reputation it gets.
It's Dimarzio.
All pickups these days are pricey, the price on this isn't bad at all.
