There's a few go to neck pick ups for me & this is one. It's articulate yet smooth. It's the perfect companion to the EVO middle & bridge. This set gives you the best of all worlds. From aggressive bridge output to chimey cleans & Trower single coil tones to the smooth, clear neck pickup that splits well & gives you a convincing bell like neck/middle strat tone. I highly recommend this pickup (the entire set too)

This pick up does it all for me. Blues, Jazz, Rock, Metal, etc. You name it, it does it. The best neck pick up I have ever come across hands down!

Comments about DiMarzio DP158 Evolution Neck Pickup:
I replaced my stock pickups in my main Ibanez with the Evo bridge and neck pickups and it is louder! Improved overall sound quality and tones I get out of it. Very versatile in playing styles, it's very crisp and clear, every little mistake can be heard with these. I definitely recommend them, gonna order another set later this month for my back up Ibanez.

Sweet tones. Distortion, without too much noise. Good harmonics.

Comments about DiMarzio DP158 Evolution Neck Pickup:
Very nice sounds and I am really impressed with the tone that this pup puts out. This thing was put into an old Ibanez GIO GRX20 guitar because I wanted to HOTROD it. I am running it in standard series mode for more output. The tones are still very clean in series mode but with a little added bass boost that blends nicely! ...I also paired this pickup with the Dimarzio Evolution Bridge pup.You can really play any style of music that you want...blues tones are easily achieved with this bad boy as well as sweet solos. Believe me, my lil' Gio is now my favorite guitar. (Thinking about putting these in my Ibanez ART 300 or my Schecter Damien!) FYI -You can get really nice aggressive tones with both Evolution pickups when you use the DR Dimebag 10-52 strings. You'll love this pickup!
Comments about DiMarzio DP158 Evolution Neck Pickup:
I have this in the neck of my John Petrucci musicman in combination with a steve's special in the bridge. The evolution is one of the best pickups I own. Very clear and articulate. If have you a basswood guitar its perfect. My only complaint is that it is a tad expensive.
Comments about DiMarzio DP158 Evolution Neck Pickup:
I own the bridge pick up as well and I put these in my Ibanez Gio. This pickup is NOT for the beginner!!! I haven't been playing guitar for very long and this pup is just WAY sensitive to any and every movement along the neck and pickup area. It's crystal clear tones and surgical like precision is breathtaking! These pups are so clear, clean and precise...I wish I wouldn't have bought them. If you're an accomplished guitarist looking for the sweetest distortion sound you could ever hear...buy these...you'll love them!!!!
Comments about DiMarzio DP158 Evolution Neck Pickup:
I just bought a set of these and they scream. I have them in an LTD MH-50 beecause the original pick ups were trash. The difference is huge! I play a lot of stuff with high gain and high distortion through a Peavey Rage 158. If you are looking for a new set of pick ups these will not dissapoint.
Comments about DiMarzio DP158 Evolution Neck Pickup:
I'm playing an LP standard & boogie dc-5 thru marshall 1960a cab. I had high expectations of the DP158, because I love the DP159's OD tone in the bridge. But compared to the duncan pearly gates in the neck position: the DP158 is definitely smooth, but overly-compressed with an utter absence of high end. I'll be sticking with the PG in my particular case.
