Comments about DiMarzio DP160 Norton Bridge Guitar Pickup:
Very accurate description by DiMarzio. Notes and harmonics really burn, exceptional clarity through every chord, even when overdriven. Highs that shimmer but never become harsh. The mids have real" guts" and the lows are tight and round. I've nicknamed this the "goldilocks humbucker." Tried 6 different pickups in my hot rod strat, this one is just right. Very quiet through my amp and it splits nicely too.

Comments about DiMarzio DP160 Norton Bridge Guitar Pickup:
I have used many Duncan and Dimarzio Humbuckers over the years and i must say that this one is the perfect versatile bridge humbucker. it's medium-high output. it sounds just as good clean as it does with loads of distortion. it responses very well to changes in picking. i play every thing from blues to death metal, and this pickup can hang with all of that. it's not the "perfect" pickup for any one style, but it is capable of sounding really good with any style. this is a good pickup for people who use a lot of fx and various amp settings. good clean signal. no mud or harsh highs.
Comments about DiMarzio DP160 Norton Bridge Guitar Pickup:
I've used probably close to 20 different pickups over the years and the Dimarzio Norton is the best overall. I've used it in several guitars and it sounds great in all of them. It is such a perfectly balanced pickup, right between a medium and a hot pickup. Currently using it in a Kramer Pacer Classic.
I've used at least 10 different Dimarzio pickups, never had any quality issues.
IMHO, Dimarzios are the best value of the big name brands.
Comments about DiMarzio DP160 Norton Bridge Guitar Pickup:
I traded my super distortion in for this pickup (Dimarzio is great for that program) the SD had a decent heavy tone but the feedback through my DSL with terrible, but that's another review. This pick up kinda reminds me of a Seymour Duncan Jb but a little more bright and slightly more powerful. kinda got a vintage feel to it, but at times seems a little sterile. Though not as bad the Norton still has some feedback issue's but not as bad as the super distortion, even with a NS-2 I can get painful squeal's through my amp, I originally had a Duncan invader in my sg and never had uncontrollable feedback, maybe its just the way dimarzio wax pots their pickups.I am primarily a rhythm player, so maybe this P.U. was made for lead players, it just doesn't have the chunk that I like, I am gonna go back to the invader cause even though the clean isn't the best, I can stand in front of my jcm half stack without ear piercing squealing.
Comments about DiMarzio DP160 Norton Bridge Guitar Pickup:
I did a lot of research in considering what to replace my Epiphone Elitist SG's bridge pup with, and the Norton seemed to be kind of an uncelebrated hero from DiMarzio. Designed to open up the sound of mahogany set-neck guitars, a combination of the FRED and Tone Zone, these seemed to be perfect for me. Great pickup! It's very strong in the high mids, and it pushes the amp's clean channel to crunch up there. Seriously, you play gently and then give the strings a couple good whacks and you'll hear the dirt. In the end, I decided that in the SG it sounds a little too brash in the high mids to my taste, and I found myself wishing it had a little more high treble. So I'm getting a Steve's Special to try out (take out some of those mids, give me more fine treble, and even throw in a little more "oomph"). I really want to hear what the Norton sounds like in a thicker mahogany, Les Paul style guitar, though, or in the neck position. (The Air Norton sounds great in the neck, and this is the same pickup but with higher output and no Airbucker "system.") Want a great pickup for instant rock 'n' roll tone with the mids already tweaked just right for cutting leads? This is your man!
Comments about DiMarzio DP160 Norton Bridge Guitar Pickup:
I have an Epiphone Elitist SG and installed Gibson 500T and 496R pickups when I purchased it. They sound great but I was limited to heavy distortion and really dark sound. I installed the Norton in the bridge and the air classic in the neck position and just as stated "Really good for opening up the sound of mahogany set-neck guitars". I can still play heavy rock but can now play any other style as well. Great job DiMarzio.
