A single-coil pickup that is dynamic, articulate. and responsive.

Recommended for the Standard Telecaster neck position, Dimarzio's True Velvet T Neck represents the next level of pickup for Telecaster and similar style guitars. It is extremely dynamic and has unparalleled response to pick attack. With the True Velvet the low strings are as big and clean and the highs are smoother, with an overall attack that is stronger. This combination of qualities allows the True Velvet T guitar pickup to sound both pretty and tough.

The True Velvet Telecaster pickup features controlled-tension coil-winding, special wire and hand-calibrated magnets. It also has an unplated nickel cover for the purest sound, and it's wax-potted twice for squeal-free performance.

Very bright pickup

Comments about DiMarzio DP177 True Velvet Tele Neck Pickup:

This is an okay pickup, except it's too bright. The highs have a brittle crispness that I don't like. I replaced the stock Fender neck pickup because it was too dull and lifeless sounding but this pickup goes too far in the other direction by being extremely bright. I know Tele's are supposed to be bright but there's a difference between bright and brittle and this pickup is the latter.I play through Marshall amps (plexi, 2203 and an 18 watt clone) and this pickup is just too bright with any of my amps. If you have a dark sounding guitar or amp, this pickup may work well for you. It does work well for a clear, biting blues overdrive tone but I find it too bright for clean tones, except for maybe bright, snappy country sounds. It's definitely not a warm sounding pickup.
