Hot rod your Strat or Tele!

With hum-canceling side-by-side coils and twin-blade pole pieces, the Fast Track 1 dishes out solid single-coil tone with some distinct advantages. The blade's magnetic field is continuous from end to end - no more strings misaligned over individual poles. There's also less string-pull, eliminating the out of tune sound caused when magnetic pull messes with the string vibration.

Most important is the sound. The Fast Track 1 has the same open top end as a single-coil with a tighter, more focused bass response. Picking dynamics are intact too: Fast Tracks speak with the sensitivity of your favorite single-coil, only about twice as loud.

If you use a hot bridge humbucker, try a Fast Track 1 in the middle and neck positions. The Fast Track 1's enhanced output will better match the bucker's volume for smoother transition from one pickup position to another. You can put a whole set of Fast Track 1 pickups in a Strat for louder, tougher tone. Different combinations of Fast Track1TM, Chopper, and Fast Track 2, pickups can add guts and drive to any single-coil guitar. The DP381 is the Tele bridge version.

Recommended For:

All basic Strat replacement situations. The dual radiused blade polepieces will handle all string-spacing requirements, and the magnetic field creates a very even string-to-string balance.

Tech Talk:

For any situation where single-coil sound with higher power and hum-cancellation is required. Can be used in any position in a standard Strat setup. Also combines with bridge humbuckers such as PAF, PAF Pro, Fred, Air Classic, Air Zone, Norton, and Tone Zone.

Satisfied

By Tony Kareid

from Oslo, Norway

Comments about DiMarzio DP181 Fast Track 1 Pickup:

I bought this pickup to put it in the neck position on a Fender Ritchie Blackore Strat to replace the very noisy seymour duncan quarter pounder which is the originals. The Fast track is dead quiet because it's a humbucker. It sounds great, typical strat neck sound, and I wire it with an Ibanez 4 pole 5 way switch so I have wired it in series (full humbuck) Parallell humbuck and split along with a bridge pickup. It's hotter than usual single coils, but not too hot. I will keep it in the guitar.

In the bridge position...

By Stickle

from Ruidoso, NM

Comments about DiMarzio DP181 Fast Track 1 Pickup:

Could not find a good review anywhere of this in the bridge of a guitar, I trusted Dimarzio and picked it up anyway. Like it, don't love it, I don't know if I love any pickup... This is a great Strat upgrade for the bridge, can't speak for any other position. The Duncan Lil '59 was too muddy, this mixes great with the Dimarzio Area pickups. My setup is now Fast Track 1(B)/Area 58(M)/Area 67(N) this is the closest to my "Perfect" Strat as I have yet come, and I have played many. My Strat is now great for Hendix/Floyd as well as QOTSA/Monster Magnet styles... it was before, but now the blend between the pickups is much more natural, that is important to me.

Pretty Good

Comments about DiMarzio DP181 Fast Track 1 Pickup:

I played these installed in a strat in a store. I thought that it sounded alot better than another strat that i played with the original pickups. I played it through a 30w line 6 tube amp.

The best out there

By Stringbender-D_Vx.

Comments about DiMarzio DP181 Fast Track 1 Pickup:

I have an 82 strat that I installed fast track 1's in the neck/middle positions and a 2 in the bridge position and couldn't be happier. Running through a Marshall with a Vox tonelab for effects can get just about any sound possible from classic strat tones to great overdrive and sustain. No problem with getting clean sounds so can't understand other reviewers comments. Sometimes the pickup is not the problem and can guarantee that this one isn't. Have tried Duncan single coils also and none beats this one.

The Pickup From Hell

By Evan Lam

from Brooklyn, NY

Comments about DiMarzio DP181 Fast Track 1 Pickup:

I have a 1984 Ibanez Roadstar II guitar with the three single coil Strat configuration and I wanted to give it a kick-ass sound. I threw three Fast Tracks (combination of Fast Track 1 and 2) on the Ibanez and plugged it through a Marshall JCM 2000. It had a warm, rich crunch and killer sustain. I strongly recommend this pickup, especially for metal guitarists, although it also has a clean tone.

Very disappointed

By Strat

from Birmingham, AL

Comments about DiMarzio DP181 Fast Track 1 Pickup:

I got this pickup thinking it will give me a good clean punchy sound in the neck position. I was wrong. I replaced a red Lace Sensor with it and it sounded muddier than the Lace Sensor did. Not what I was expecting at all. I have not tried it in any other positions but there is no way this was made to go in the neck position, even though it says it is good for all positions. When strumming you can't even here the clarity of the chord, it just sounds like a boggy mess. I do not recommend it for the neck position. Would not buy again and trying to sell it now.
