    Warm and friendly.

It sounds like a vintage humbucker and will drop right into your Stratocaster. The Pro Track has enough power for any pickup position, and the 2 blades mean there won't be any problems with string alignment or dropouts. In the bridge position, this is a great blues pickup: combine it with a Cruiser (neck) and a Fast Track 1 (middle) for a solid mix. Pair 2 Pro Tracks in the neck and middle positions with a Fast Track 2 by the bridge for a heavy, yet versatile metal sound. Recommended for all positions. Output: 275mV.

Order today and enjoy a more versatile instrument.

    Good little pickup

    By Seth-gYhd4

    from Dayton, NV

Comments about DiMarzio DP188 Pro Track Pickup:

I bought this pickup to replace the single coil on my Ibanez s. Amazing diference in in clarity and no hum. The magnet on this pickup is really thick so be prepared to route the neck pickup wires around the magnet to get the pickup to sit as low as it suposed to.

    DP 188 Level 1

    By Stacy Fenton

    from southern Iowa

Comments about DiMarzio DP188 Pro Track Pickup:

I was suprised at the sound this thing put out, not enough for me to change to all Dimarzios in all my guitars but I'm glad I experimented with them.
Bought a level 1 returned pickup put it in my guitar and then sent it to my luthier to have a fret job done that ended up taking longer than it should have, the guy is busy because he's good. When I get the guitar back the pickup worked for a few seconds sounded weak so I adjusted it up a bit and all of a sudden in doesn't work I pushed down on the pickup while strumming and it worked again. So it's going to require a little work to get going correctly but what I heard of it was a nice clean sound for a single coil spaced humbucker. I was suprised at how it was a lot like a strat. I have always been a Seymour Duncan guy and wanted to give Dimarzios a try and I'm glad I did. Once I get it fixxed it will be a great addition to my collection of sounds. Put it in an old Charvette 270 with a Seymour Duncan Alternative 8 in the bridge the Pro Track in the middle and a Billy Corgan bridge pup in the neck. I play a lot of heavier music and this has turned out to or will turn out to be a well rounded guitar.
The person that returned it hurt it. Can't really blame Dimarzio for that.
For the money of a level 1 I can't complain.

    nice

Comments about DiMarzio DP188 Pro Track Pickup:

I put this pickup in a Mexican Classic Series 50's Strat, because I didn't like the noise and tinniness of the stock pickups. The Pro Track sounds great in the bridge position. It's good clean or distorted with a nice clarity and full-bodied sound. Nice and quiet too!

    Amazing (played in neck slot)

    By McAir

    from United States, US

Comments about DiMarzio DP188 Pro Track Pickup:

I bought this thing, as part of my revamp project for my starter guitar which I am going to convert to a pro-grade guitar, and when I heard it play, i almost cried. This pickup had an amazing tone in the neck position on both clean channels and with high gain. Everything is crisp and clean, and it's providing the clarity I need for my style of playing/songwriting (strictly instrumental style like Vai, Satriani, etc.) I plan to get one more of these for the middle position and a Mo'Joe for the bridge position on my HSS guitar to have the same clarity. This pickup is very flexible for different play-styles, and has worked beautifully for all of my songs.

    Great blues/rock neck pickup

    By Matt K.-_7igZ

    from North Brunswick, NJ

Comments about DiMarzio DP188 Pro Track Pickup:

I have one of these as the neck pickup on my Strat, and I plan to buy another one for the middle position. It's got a big, fat, round bluesy tone to it, and sounds awesome both clean and with high gain. Pair it with a hotter bridge pickup (like DiMarzio's Fast Track 2) for a versatile palette of blues and rock tones.

    What a Difference

    By MudKatz58

    from Van Buren, AR

Comments about DiMarzio DP188 Pro Track Pickup:

I've used DiMarzio pickups on Strats and P-Basses that I've owned in the past and have always been very pleased with the sound and quality. I recently bought one of the new Gibson Melody Maker Single pickup models. The stock Gibson single coil pickup had a kind of Tele twang to it and I wanted something that would sound like a good vintage humbucker without having to rout the body out. Well, let me tell you, this pickup does the trick. Talk about waking a guitar up. It's got just the right amount of distortion for that classic humbucker sound, but you don't have to rout the body as you would for a normal humbucker. I got the one with the black cover to keep in line with the cosmetics of the guitar, but DiMarzio offers a wide range of colors for this pickup, so you can release your inner freak. I would highly recommend this pickup, especially if you've bought a Melody Maker and would like to open the guitar up and see what it can really do.

I was a little worried when i was customizing my strat that I wouldnt get that vintage tone I wanted to go along wiht my YJM pick up in the neck, but was I ever so wrong this pickup is sweet and as versatile as you can get, the tone is as good or better than any of my other guitars including my Les Paul Custom I absolutely love it and recommend it,

Git a lil' Gibson in that

By That Man's got a Guitar

    from Manchester, NH-USA

Comments about DiMarzio DP188 Pro Track Pickup:

I am fairly new to the after-market pickup world so I don't have extensive comparisons to make. This pickup was bought for a Steinberger Spirit guitar but couldn't be used for that purpose without carving out extra space for the S-styled "flange" on the bottom--no worries- I dropped it into a Mexican Strat in the bridge postion and it is SWEET! DiMarzio offers ALL Strat-style pickups in a no-flange option and I am in the process of ordering one but getting back to DP188 in a Strat-works wonderfully- added a push-pull to get coil tapping and have a better single-coil bridge sound than the stock P/u offered, plus, when I pull the switch to kick in that humbucker it's like putting down the strat and picking up a LPJR-style axe. Still a bit brighter than a true, singing LP-style but definitely a surprisingly good humbucker tone out of a Strat. Wire it right and you don't really lose anything-coil-tapped sound is not puny and blends well with stock pickups mid and neck--which probably won't be stock too much longer. I hadn't been playing the Strat much but with this DiMarzio and a fresh setup I've been wailin' into the night. Rarely does such a small investment do so much for your playing. Highly recommended--warning may inspire further Modification-Madness! Your Axe can be better than you dream...

    Good tone...

    By MrBig951

Comments about DiMarzio DP188 Pro Track Pickup:

I dropped this into an HM Strat and an Ibanez RG and both sound great in either middle or neck positions. Nice and warm with good sustain. A quality pickup as usual from Dimarzio. The color selection is always a nice bonus as well.

    Sick pickup with variety

    By Doomgiver

    from Alameda, CA

Comments about DiMarzio DP188 Pro Track Pickup:

This pickup is a great pickup for anything with high gain. I play metal and shred, and it sounds really warm, kinda gives you that malmsteen tone. Nice vintage tone. Very versatile.
