OVERVIEW

Modern, warmer, louder, and faster for the shredmeister.

The Paul Gilbert Injector Neck Model has a modern rather than a vintage sound. The DP422 is warmer and louder (160mV output) than a typical vintage single-coil - and of course it's hum-canceling. It's also faster. The Injector Neck Model tracks high-speed solos at high gain without becoming either thin or muddy, and has a very full, well-balanced, clean sound. It has about 40% less magnet-pull than standard single-coils, and this is essential for the superior speed and dynamic range with which this pickup responds to pick attack.

Paul's setup on the guitar he played on Fuzz Universe was Injector Neck Model in the neck, Area 67 in the middle and Injector Bridge Model in the bridge. The Injector is a lot louder and warmer than the Area 67 but the combination produces varied tonal colors in the 2 and 4 positions, with the Area 67 alone providing vintage tone and the Injector Neck and Bridge for heavier sounds.

Comments about DiMarzio DP422 Paul Gilbert Injector Neck Pickup:

I put this in the neck of my Strat. Higher output with no hum. MASSIVE improvement in sustain. If you like single coil tone but hate the weakness and hum then this is for you. I have it wired with a 500k pot and no tone, sounds great.

Comments about DiMarzio DP422 Paul Gilbert Injector Neck Pickup:

I wanted a pickup to put in the middle position of an Ibanez HSH, between a pair of 57 Classic Humbuckers. This was definitely a great choice. Matches perfectly in output and sounds great in position 2 & 4 ( coupled with bridge or neck humbucker) and equally as well in position 3 on it's own. Harmonics are beautiful and sustain is great.

Comments about DiMarzio DP422 Paul Gilbert Injector Neck Pickup:

This pickup has the right balance of tones tight lows mild meds perfect highs. Clean or Distorted it is perfect. I have this paired with a Super Distortion in the bridge, Injector neck. The volumes match up great. Now if your not running a hot pickup in the bridge and want a balance just lower the Injector away from the strings till it match's. This also paired perfect with a Seymour Duncan JB. So if it can hold its own with all this... They Got It Right!

Comments about DiMarzio DP422 Paul Gilbert Injector Neck Pickup:

I was interested in getting a single-coil conversion on my Jackson Dinky. So I purchased a conversion ring to hold the pickup in a humbucker slot. I was impressed how this pickup sounds better than a D-Activator bridge and that says a lot that DiMarzio has accomplished. I always disliked single-coil pickups but the Injector Neck makes me a believer again in single-coil power. I was looking for a single-coil clean sound as well as crunch and this pickup delivers both. Instead of an EMG 85, 81 Combo, i went with a D-Activator Neck and Injector neck for more of a shred sound with a lot of depth and tone clarity. You can't go wrong with this neck single-coil pickup. This pickup is an all-around pickup that can perform an unlimited range of different styles of play.

Comments about DiMarzio DP422 Paul Gilbert Injector Neck Pickup:

Firstly, I've always loved Dimarzio pickups. A have the Adny Timmons, Super Distortions, Cruisers,Tone Zone and Chopper pickups in various guitars and they all are brilliant covering the musical ground they are know for. I have a Fender Tele that I was feeling in terms of tone. I replaced the bridge pickup with a Tone Zone and its great but still not the perfect axe. I decided to get a pro rout job and add a middle pickup. After speaking to Steve at Dimarzio, he recommended the Injector which I hadnt even considered but he said it would balance nicely. Thank you Steve (and Paul Gilbert of course ;-)). The pickup makes the guitar truly complete. The bridge pickup will overdrive the amp but the Injector oddly doesn't. Instead it creates this beautiful, warm tone that alone, or combined with the bridge pickup is sublime. I'd love to try these pickups as a neck or bridge pickup also.

Comments about DiMarzio DP422 Paul Gilbert Injector Neck Pickup:

I loaded this into my Jackson and I can honestly say this is the only neck pickup I'll ever use. I trust Paul Gilbert to the max anyway because he's so intense when it comes to guitar, tone, theory, etc. I really only use it for cleans but its so warm, and clear. Ive used it on several amps and every time it's perfectly balanced. Lows are smooth and the highs aren't nasaly or too trebbley . If you're looking for the ultimate warmth and depth out of your neck pick up this is it. I'm loading one into my Ibanez too.

Comments about DiMarzio DP422 Paul Gilbert Injector Neck Pickup:

This is a great neck pickup for any strat. I dare say it may be the perfect neck single-coil. Most single-coil pickups, regardless of their intended position end up having a seriously pushed treble range to get that sparkling, jangling strat tone. This pickup is no exception, but for the fact that the treble isn't as pronounced as in other pickups. With 160 mV of output and a B/M/T curve of 6/7/7.5 the EQ curve isn't so skewed that the pickup becomes brittle or piercing. The tones you get from the Injector Neck pickup retain all of the great "tubular" tones we love from strat neck pickups, but the flatter EQ curve ensures that there is plenty of tight bottom end to keep the tone balanced and focused.

The Injector Neck can do both rhythm and lead equally well. The tone remains constant across the spectrum from cleans to fluid metal. I've never heard a neck pickup that I'm comfortable using playing rhythm. The neck usually produces a sound that won't cut through the mix, live OR in the studio.

I fully intend to try the bridge model at my first chance. I already have the "Area" pickups, so I know they're phenomenal-sounding!
