A pickup specifically engineered for the 7-string.
Not merely an adaptation of the original Tone Zone, the DiMarzio DP755BC Tone-7 String Electric Guitar Pickup is a new design from the ground up for 7-string guitars. By using a ceramic magnet, rather than the Alnico 5 magnet employed in the original Tone Zone, it incorporates 40% lower magnet-pull. Its coils are specifically calibrated to reproduce the full impact of the low B string without any loss of tone quality or fidelity. The Tone Zone 7 comes with 4-conductor cable.
Played by Dave Weiner, Matt Henderson, Paul Bento, Scott Krell, Stephan Forte, Tom Kopyto, Toshi Iseda

Comments about DiMarzio DP755BC Tone-7 String Electric Guitar Pickup:
I'm going under the impression that this is for the Tone Zone 7 pickup. I think this is a perfect pickup for bass(tard)wood guitars, which works out because 90% of all 7 strings out there are made of bass(tard)wood to begin with. Lots of bass, insane amount of mids. I've seriously dialed in a complete scooped EQ on my amp (10 on bass, 0 on mids) and I still had plenty of midrange left over. This thing should definately be able to cut through everything. I bet it could even cut through over-mic'd bass drums with a death metal drummer who has no sense of dynamics whatsoever. This pickup might also work in alder. Mahogany? Don't bother. Despite its higher output rating, it actually comes in rather clear, even under high gain applications. Split it in the bridge position and the sound is almost acoustic. If I didn't have such a disliking towards bass(tard)wood I'd pick up more of these Tone Zones.
