Comments about DiMarzio Paul Gilbert Injector '67 Pickup Set:
These are a real good set of pickups. I found that they retained my strats tonal characteristics while canceling the hum. I put these in an 08' american strat, ash body with a maple neck. These were easy to install in the normal strat format, options for coil taping will require more effort. I used my standard tone pots and they work great with these. It's still a classic strat sound with a bit more mid out of the bridge than before. These are crisp and clear pickups that sound great with a lot of control with little setup. The only downside is that I was expecting a little more volume, like out of a double humbucker. (since these are stacked) These are more like the originals, IMO, with just a touch more punch. All in all, I am very pleased with the clean and distorted sounds from these. Great set of pickups, and comparable in price to others in their category. It's nice to play and not have that hum anymore
Comments about DiMarzio Paul Gilbert Injector '67 Pickup Set:
I really like these. They have opened up my Stat. More power and NO HUMMMM at all. The tones are nice. Highs are not at the "hurting" point like the stock pups. They retain the "strat" tones and give you the bite of a humbucker and everywhere between. Very hard to explain the tone in the bridge only position. It is like a humbucker with a slight single coil undertone. All three pups have warmth now. The thin has fattened up somewhat. Don't get me wrong...you can still tell it is a Strat when you hear it but, if you didn't see the guitar, you may question what it is. I have been playing for more than 30 years and I have 8 guitars (PRS USA models, Jackson Soloist USA model, and Fender American) and three half-stacks (Mesa Triple Rec, Marshall JVM, and Peavey JSX. These pups sound very good through the JSX. I can't wait to hear them through the Tripe Rec. & Marshall. I couldn't find any reviews on these. I hope this helps you decide. I am pleased with my purchase and I am sure you will if you like your Strat tones but want a little more. I play in a few diferent bands. Christian Rock and Praise & Worship at my Church. These fit the need for both. Our Christian Rock band has light to heavy rock. Somewhat like a 80's hair metal.
Another feature I really like: They keep the appearance of the classic Strat. They look like a stock single coil. I really hate those pups that stick out looking like the focus point of the guitar.
These will fit any style music you throw at them. You will be wishing you got them earlier. I never give any piece of music gear a 10 this early into the game but, since there were no reviews on these, I am. These pups need to be looked at!!!!
These are are good pickups. Versitle in normal set up with 5-way switching. Coil taps would increase the options. I may look into that later. Currently, I have them set up as: 5-Bridge; 4-Bridge/Middle; 3-Middle; 2-Middle/Neck; 1-Neck.
Since they are 4- connector, coil taps or mini switches will pen the options. We'll see.
Quality is right on track. I got these in "Aged White" and it matches my Strat. I ordere these from MF and installed thm in my Fender American FSR "thin-skin" Strat (surf green). The Stratocaster also came from MF several months ago. Installation was simple. They match great, fit great, and look great. NO HUMMMMMMMM at all even with high gain.
An ok price for three pickups. Maybe a little over-priced but acceptable now that I installed and played them. I may play my Strat more than before.
