This stand is worth every penny! I've been performing live with this stand for more than 5 years now and it still works perfectly. Most boom stands wear out at their pivot point over time and can't support the boom... these DR Pro stands hold strong. The adjustments at the telescoping boom and legs still tighten correctly and have never let me down.
The stand just proportionally makes sense; the legs are long enough to support a boom of this length and even though it may weigh a little more than your average stand, that helps counter the weight of a mic when the boom is fully extended.
I just ordered several more of these to add to my fleet of mic stands. Now I can finally throw out my rigged back up stands that have been assembled from the remains of sixteen different nineteen dolla boom stands...

Not sure why this microphone stand is getting so many high marks. The stand is made in Korea and you can tell. Many of the adjusters seem cheaply made and when fully extended with my recording microphone on it slowly sags. I was really surprised when I received it that the quality of this stand was not higher.

Comments about DR Pro Tripod Mic Stand with Telescoping Boom:

I am a backup singer and percussionist in a travel band. I needed something sturdy that would hold my lip tray for my instruments, my drink holder and my microphone without worry of it toppling over. Sometimes I'm switching instruments so quickly I can't worry about being very delicate with their placement. This stand is working perfectly!

Comments about DR Pro Tripod Mic Stand with Telescoping Boom:

I've been working live shows for over 30 years and have owed almost every make of mic stand available. My DR Pro mic stands have outlasted all the others and is just SOLID right out of the box. The ones I have now are at least 10 years old and the only thing sign of wear is that the paint has been chipped off of certain sections.

Comments about DR Pro Tripod Mic Stand with Telescoping Boom:

Definitely double the quality of those OTHER stands at half price. The telescoping boom is nice in that it allows easy adjustments, or half boom while keeping space behind the stand clear. I doubt this stand will handle a very heavy hand with the screws, but tougher than the bargain stands by far. The heft of the stand is a good balance between portability and function. I use this to hold my condensor and dynamic mics, it holds without drooping or falling over. Maybe overkill to use for pencil mics in a static location, but totally suitable for road use. Who wants to move or lose a more expensive or heavier stand than this anyhow? I now own two, and a good finish came in black on both. Great reach for guitar playing and/or across keyboard stands.

Comments about DR Pro Tripod Mic Stand with Telescoping Boom:

This mic stand is professional level and a step up from the cheaper mic stands you see. Really solid and stable. Strong mechanical parts (boom clutch, knobs, etc.). On top of that it has a really nice looking finish. While the boom is a little short it meets my needs ... playing guitar either standing or sitting. Might be a little short for other applications.

This is a high quality microphone stand. Every detail from the piece parts, operation and paint finish is better than expected. It is robust. Borrowing any unintended abuse when transported to and from a gig, this product will last and maintain its quality for a long, long time.....

Comments about DR Pro Tripod Mic Stand with Telescoping Boom:

I needed a stand that I can use 10-12x a month and not have to carry a second one in case it breaks. This unit fills the bill. As soon as you unpack it you can feel how solid and strong it is. The extra telescope on the boom makes quick adjustments much easier. It's expensive if you need 12 of them for the stage, but for a solo performer like me who wants to only carry one stand to the gig, it's the best choice I've found.

I tried some of the cheap musician's friends house-brand mic stands and they were too flimsy and the hardware either fell out or stripped out. Those cheap ones are okay for home studio use but not for regular travel. I bought two of these and so far I have been very pleased. They are much heavier but the hardware is much more solid.

Excellent quality mic stand. I use it mainly as a mic stand with the boom for singing when I play the keyboard. Very sturdy and the hardware just feels solid. I've bought some cheaper stands in the past and I think it's well worth the extra money to buy something like this stand. Highly recommended.
