the strings are still new so I cant address the long life issue. The tone is exactly what I was looking for and they are even accross and up and down the fretboard. A bonus issue, they look cool.

Although "versatile and crisp" these strings can be used by any type of musician, you must keep in mind that these strings must be used in standard tuning. If you play anything Lower than DADG Tuning these strings are not for you. You will need a thicker string and unfortunately you will not find these same strings in a thicker gage (At least not here on Musician's Friend). I also do not recommend coated strings for musicians who use picks because you will eventually remove the coating and your strings will eventually become dull faster than they should. What I loved about these strings was the fact that they're coated so they will last you a long time and longer if you take care of them. The color also attracted a lot of attention (Always good when you're trying to impress a crowd).
Quality Tip: Make sure to cut the necessary amount of string needed for your bass never over wrap the string around the post. Also, make sure to crimp the string end when placing it on the post (It will keep the wound on the string in tact and your strings will not go dull before they should) This tip is usually included inside DR Strings sets.
A little pricey but they are quality strings and they last longer, so in reality the price is not too bad.

The only thing i can say about these strings is that, the tone is so versatile and crisp, that fits every syle of music... definitely buy them!
