OVERVIEW

Drop-down tuning bass guitar strings that go right into tune and lock in.

The first thing you notice with DR Drop-Down Tuning Bass strings is how stable they are. DDT strings maintain their intonation at lower tunings far better than other strings you may have played or heard. Players say these bass strings are so stable it is almost eerie.

Now you can "stand and deliver" in-tune notes at lower pitches that are clean and clear-plus you can drop tune with confidence and accuracy. You'll be surprised how few adjustments you'll make to change tunings and will be even more surprised how well DR Drop-Down Tuning strings lock into tune. DR

Experienced players comment: "Tuned down, I was never able to play a favorite riff. It always came out muddy and garbled. Now it is crystal clear. I am going to record it and give it to my bandmates, who could not hear it before."

DR DDT strings deliver far more than just heavy gauges-they deliver impeccable bass tone.

Heavy gauges: 55-75-95-115.

I got these strings yesterday made it thru practice with yucky old set of crap. I changed them today, was a bit sceptical at first of the hype. I think it important for me to say that my bass is tuned to drop C. I slap these babys on tuned them up slowly (like they RECOMENDED). Giddy Like a school girl I plugged into my recording gear and noticed a deffinate difference in sound. Its like the string is EQed. Wasn't all whomppy like brand crap. So i recorded a song that i previously had done. OMG once i applied my plugins on that track it was the "growl" i was after. Consistent wave pattern that you can see. No more floppy C hitting the pick up. Thank you DR for making a little slice of bass heaven.

I just received these today (3-8-13, not from musicians friend) and was very excited about them. I play in a heavy metal band that tunes to CDCF and my ernie ball super slinky 45s weren't cutting it, so I ordered these. I started putting them on and the tone was great. Once I put on the 4th string (C), it was just about tuned and it snapped. Maybe this was a fluke, but for someone that plays shows, this is completely unacceptable. To have a string designed for low tuning, not be able to tune to C is just ridiculous. No way these would tune any higher. I would avoid these. I ordered Ernie Ball power slinky 55s (same gauge as these DDTs)

Comments about DR Strings Drop-Down Tuning Heavy Bass Strings:

Great set of strings for drop tuning. I tune to C-F-A♯-D♯ and they sound and feel great. The low C string has a thunderous bite to it. Very happy with these.

Comments about DR Strings Drop-Down Tuning Heavy Bass Strings:

These are great strings. I love their tone and seem to get a decent amount of life out of them. They work great down to Drop B tuning, but sound superb in C# Standard. I play these on a Fender American P Bass with some overdrive most of the time.

I had recently put on a new set, about a month ago, and the low 115 string snapped in the middle of recording. From what I gather from other reviews these strings seem to have a tendency of breaking. I just ordered multiple packs in preparation of that happening. (Fingers crossed it doesn't occur again)

Comments about DR Strings Drop-Down Tuning Heavy Bass Strings:

Sound ridiculously amazing for the first 5 days. Then okay for a week or 2. Then completely rubbery and awful after that. They have that "piano" sound while they are new. They have decent tension at drop b, great tension at drop c, and super tension at drop d#. These strings have a tight low end and the highs are very prominent. They will break if you tune up too fast. I put them on extremely loose, then tune up to drop b over the course of 30 mins. In conclusion, these strings are perfect for studio use or for a gig, but aren't something you would want to put on a bass that is going to sit around for a while.

          A good change

Comments about DR Strings Drop-Down Tuning Heavy Bass Strings:

I found these strings to be a distinct improvement for my Musicman Stingray-V. The B string tension and response is solid. The G string response is much more prominent than any other sets I've used. Also, you would have to be a gorilla to break these strings. The only down side was the need to increase the neck truss rod tension to counteract the added tension that these thicker strings produce. Therefore, these strings may not be suited for some basses. I will definitely keep using them. They are an improvement over the DR High Beams and the other brands out there.

          DDT's are a 50/50 venture

Comments about DR Strings Drop-Down Tuning Heavy Bass Strings:

Typically DR is the best but use these at your own risk!
I bought a set of these for my Les Paul bass to play new rock. They work fantastic and hold lower tunings without flopping about on the neck clear down to CGCF flawlessly. Then the other shoe dropped. I typically use a medium gauge string and bought these in a heavy gauge and as a result had to tweak the neck a bit to adjust for the thicker strings. Upon putting the strings back on after the neck tweak the "D" string snapped at the bridge where the ball is with enough force to tear the nut right out of the neck of my bass! I fixed it without problems and put the DR med Red Devils back on it but I got lucky. The damage of ripping the nut off could have been much worse had it chipped or split the fretboard cause it's a set neck bass and, to my knowledge, impossible to replace the neck on. While I'd love to buy another set I think I'll just stick to my 5 string for getting low rather than risk further damage. This was a very disappointing surprise since I use DR strings almost exclusively and have never had a single problem.
Usually a 10 for DR strings, I took 5 off for breaking less than a week after installing.

          Down tune the right way

          By blackmetalman

          from Indianapolis, IN

Comments about DR Strings Drop-Down Tuning Heavy Bass Strings:

I bought these strings because I needed something that could handle Drop-C tuning. I put these on my Jazz Bass and I was so happy to finally get the tension I needed for my tuning. I play a lot of fast stuff and I am pretty hard hitting with my picking hand. I got the response that I liked from these string and I could actually do hammer-ons and pull-offs without loosing volume like with the floppier strings. I also think it made things easier for my fretting hand, but that may be a placebo affect. I have also not even come close to breaking a string and I'm really aggressive. If you down tune your bass, definitely try these strings out.

          Great Strings

Comments about DR Strings Drop-Down Tuning Heavy Bass Strings:

I got these string a few weeks ago. No more floppy strings tuned get and stayed in tune. Strung two basses no broken strings. I have heard about them breaking on some people. Tuned to D is like playing standard. I tuned to C and dropped to B still better than the rest I have tried which is about all.

          Strings that Break

          By Low-end 88

          from San Francisco

Comments about DR Strings Drop-Down Tuning Heavy Bass Strings:

The first thing I noticed is how easily these strings break. I ordered a set and the e-string broke when I was putting them on. I received a replacement set from musicians friend and had my bass professionally set up. The tech told me that the E and G string broke from that set. Musicians friend had awesome customer service with the whole experience, but given that I've broken about 5 bass strings in my entire life (3 from DDT strings) I think there may be something wrong.
