OVERVIEW

Drop-down tuning guitar strings that go right into tune and lock in.

The first thing you notice with DR Drop-Down Tuning Guitar strings is how stable they are. DDT strings maintain their intonation at lower tunings far better than other strings you may have played or heard. Players say DR DDT guitar strings are so stable it is almost eerie.

Now you can "stand and deliver" in-tune notes at lower pitches that are clean and clear-plus you can drop tune with confidence and accuracy. You'll be surprised how few adjustments you'll make to change tunings and will be even more surprised how well DR Drop-Down Tuning strings lock into tune.

Experienced players comment: "Tuned down, I was never able to play a favorite riff. It always came out muddy and garbled. Now it is crystal clear. I am going to record it and give it to my bandmates, who could not hear it before."

DR DDT strings deliver far more than just heavy gauges-they deliver impeccable tone.

Mega Heavy gauges: 13-17-22-42-56-65.

I used to play Ernie Ball Not Even Slinky. I would have trouble with my guitar falling out of tune, and the sound just wasn't there. Had my Spider Valve sounding like a solid state. Now with these new strings, it's just so amazing. Truly sent by the Gods. I play in Drop A, and the tension is as if I was playing in standard tuning. The crisp clarity and sustain is amazing. Pinch Harmonics ring out like never before.Get these strings if you play in G, A, B, or maybe even C (Though the tension in C would be insane, possibly damaging to your nut). The strings fit snug on my ESP MH-100, but if your guitar is designed for thin strings, you may need to make some minor modifications for these. I will never go back to Ernie Ball strings.

Great sound, but typical DR problems

These strings sound great -- possibly the best sound I've heard in a super-low tuning. I used them on a 24.75" 70s Gibson tuned to drop-A#. They sounded killer.

No matter the guitar, you WILL have to get a setup or at least adjust action/intonation if you are switching to these from 'normal' heavy gauge strings (like the D'Addario 13-62 baritone set, for example).

In spite of the great sound, I ultimately found them unusable for two reasons:
1) the 3rd string is plain, not wound, so on a tune-o-matic (ABR-1 in my case) bridge you can't get the saddle far enough back to get it to intonate properly. With a wound 3rd, the saddle can sit further forward and low tuning intonation on a tune-o-matic is no problem.
2) poor consistency. I've had this issue with DR before. I don't understand why 'handmade' is a good thing with regard to strings. Two of the wound strings out of this pack wouldn't intonate properly at all. The saddles were at maximum FORWARD (ridiculous) and they were still out of intonation. I've found a very high number of DR packs contain one or two bum strings that aren't uniformly wrapped (or thick) along the length and cause nasty intonation problems.

DDT strings

Comments about DR Strings Drop-Down Tuning Mega Heavy Guitar Strings:

I play in drop A...these strings still have the grip and bend as if the guitar was tuned eadgbe...these are the only strings I play with now....and if you don't need a super heavy gauge there are the mediums for drop d and such...buy them they are great!
Bright and have a great grip and feel to them.
If you buy them online the deal is great, my local music store sells them for more, which is insane!

Drops REALLY low

By Lucas Johnston

from Hilton, New York

Comments about DR Strings Drop-Down Tuning Mega Heavy Guitar Strings:

I got these strings hoping to tune to Dropped-C or Dropped-C#. They get tight at Dropped-B. If you plan on using them for Dropped-A (anything lower than that is just ridiculous), Dropped-Ab, or Dropped-B, these are good for that. The lowest string tends to sharpen when played on the frets higher than the 7th though. Otherwise they're fine, and it takes FOREVER for any of the strings to die. I've had them for 4 months and they still play just as well as they did when I got them. The sound is great... just get them if you plan to tune really REALLY low.

Awesome Strings

By Austin Williams

Comments about DR Strings Drop-Down Tuning Mega Heavy Guitar Strings:

I play an octave below standard. There aren't completely slack so that's awesome.
The ability of the strings to hold a decent low tone and to not be completely slack is amazing.
Just great quality...
Great price for great strings.

Best strings I've used for down tuning

By ibanezrocker720

from Rochester, PA

Comments about DR Strings Drop-Down Tuning Mega Heavy Guitar Strings:

I bought these for my Gibson Les Paul Custom that's tuned to B-F#-B-E-G#-C# and WOWWW!!! They not only provide the tension needed for this tuning on a shorter scale guitar but they sound amazing! By far the best tone I've had to date, everyone at band practice noticed how tight and clear the sound was using these and I also got the guitar to intonate perfectly! Only thing different I do is buy a 22 wound g string and swap it in because I prefer them over the regular.

Lowest I've been able to tune

By John Lillegard

from Boise, ID

Comments about DR Strings Drop-Down Tuning Mega Heavy Guitar Strings:

Love these so far. Feels like standard in C and like drop B in drop G. Never been able to tune that low before and now I can do it and still have great tone. Some of the strings had to be sawed into the nut a bit but luckily I have a cheap plastic nut instead of something harder.

    Amazing - utterly AMAZING

    By codirowe4548

    from Houston, TX

Comments about DR Strings Drop-Down Tuning Mega Heavy Guitar Strings:

I love these strings. I tune in B-standard and drop A, and these strings offer the tension of standard strings tuned in E. No worrying about the detuned strings sounding muddy - they are tight and crisp. One minor issue: I play a Les Paul Custom. I had to have the hole in my #6 machine head redrilled to allow for the .065 to pass through. I would definitely recommend getting a new setup performed if you switch to these strings full time.

    Great Strings

    By dyarnall77

Comments about DR Strings Drop-Down Tuning Mega Heavy Guitar Strings:

These strings do exactly what their designed for. They sound great, I tune in B standard/Drop A and the tension is like standard tuning. I have them on a ESP Eclipse and they fit through the tuners just fine. I Definitely recommend these if you want to play heavy music. They sound great with distortion and sound great clean.

I really didn't expect these strings to be as amazing as they are. I have an ibanez sa series and normally it sounds kinda dull when I play in drop b but now I can even play in drop a and my guitar stays locked in tune
