DR Strings

Bright but not harsh and easy on your frets.

Gauges .45, .65, .85, .105, .125.

DR Strings Hi-Beam Stainless Steel Bass Strings are round wound and constructed upon a round core which is unique in the industry. Hi-Beams require much more time, care, and extra steps to make than other bass strings. The extra effort DR expends making Hi-Beams result in a bass string that is highly flexible, musically bright (not harshly bright), and renowned for durability, unusually long life, consistency, and string-to string balance. These bass strings don't eat your frets. Hi-Beams are the string to choose for brightness, and ease of playing. DR Hi-Beams fit virtually all bass scale lengths up to 37-3/4".

Comments about DR Strings Hi Beams Medium 5-String Bass .125 Low B String:

These strings are great. First day I had them on they're weren't even that metallic-y like most new strings are, they break right in! But they last long as well. I haven't changed strings and it's been almost a year. They're great for slapping too, I put my Schecter Omen Extreme 5 Bass in my Fender Rumble amp and it sounds fantastic. I definitely recommend DR strings, they've got a great tone.

      Great strings for the price

Comments about DR Strings Hi Beams Medium 5-String Bass .125 Low B String:

I've used about three sets of these to date and they are great for the price. The sound is bright in the higher end and smooth in the lower. They kept their sound for good while before starting to lose fidelity - a testament to their quality. I will say a con to these are once they start to lose their brightness and response, they go quick, so have an extra set ready if you need keep your sound consistent.

      Makes your bass SING!

Comments about DR Strings Hi Beams Medium 5-String Bass .125 Low B String:

I have been using DR strings for years. I used to mess around buying cheap to mediocre strings and hoping for good sound and long life but they would lack tone and die quick every time. Not DR's! I put some of these on a Warwick of mine last night and had to write this review. DR's can and have lasted me (if I boil or soak them in denatured alchohol) the better part of a year.Either way you will get months of excellent tone and I have never had one break on me. Hell Yeah DR!

      Best strings for Jazz Bass

      By funkflex

Comments about DR Strings Hi Beams Medium 5-String Bass .125 Low B String:

These Dr strings have the clearest tones that I have ever heard. A while ago I didn't care for steel strings because I always thought that they felt like sandpaper. That's not the case with these high beams. They are very flexible and smooth. I highly recommend these strings for Fender Jazz basses. When you install them make sure that you lower the pickups so that the sound is not too hot. Another plus is that these strings are super long. They are perfect for body through designs and will provide plenty of wrap for the D string (4+1) configuration. If these strings are too expensive for you, then i highly recommend the Fender 8250's with the tapered B and E string! They give an identical sound at almost half the price.

      Well worth the money

      By Evan Hill

      from Trussville, AL

Comments about DR Strings Hi Beams Medium 5-String Bass .125 Low B String:

I got these strings a while back (about 1 year ago) thinking something this expensive cannot be bad. Luckily I was right. Right from the git-go these strings sounded amazing. And they've lasted through tons of playing, an average of 3 hours a day! The one thing I do to take care of them is wipe them down when I'm finished playing (which is a good idea for any strings). They still sound great! These are top notch!

      The only strings I use!

      By SpectorPlayer

      from Tupelo, MS

Comments about DR Strings Hi Beams Medium 5-String Bass .125 Low B String:

Since I've owned my Euro-made Spector bass, I've used these strings exclusively. I love the warmth of the mid-tones, the clear thunder of the lows and the clarity of the highs. Stainless steel adds in the life expectancy of these babys. They cost a little more, but they're worth the extra cash. Try these!

      Excellent Strings

      By RadianChalant-VsfSp

from Aliquippa, PA (Northwest of Pittsburgh)

Comments about DR Strings Hi Beams Medium 5-String Bass .125 Low B String:

First of all, when you try to trim these stainless steel strings to the proper length, you will realize the stainless steel is harder to cut than nickel. When you your instrument with these strings on it, you will notice a nice, warm bite to your sound with great sustain. These DR strings will last a long time, as well as, sound great. Spend the extra money and buy these strings.

      DR Hibeams

Comments about DR Strings Hi Beams Medium 5-String Bass .125 Low B String:

These strings have very amazing tone. if you love to slap and funk these are for you. they are very loose compared to rotosounds. popping on the Gstring is not harsh sounding or anything, it sounds just right. but the thing is i usually play rock, metal, technical speed metal and sorts of that. i think im going to buy a pack of DR Lo riders. but the life of these strings is about 3-4 months if you take care of them
