DR Strings

Stainless steel bass strings on a hex core for bright high end and great depth.

Lo-Rider stainless steel bass strings from DR are roundwound and constructed on a hexagonal core. Lo-Riders provide more depth of tone and are a bit stiffer than Hi-Beams. Bass players who are into slapping, popping, and tapping will love the high end and depth of Lo-Riders. The slight bit of stiffness makes these strings very accurate when playing harmonics. Great consistency and great string-to-string balance are DR hallmarks. Fits scale lengths up to 37-3/4".

Gauges 45-65-85-105.

The Best Strings

By Where's My Mule?

from Second City

Comments about DR Strings Lo Rider MH-45 Medium Stainless Steel 4-String Bass Strings:

Great feel, full range sound, long lasting! The best sounding and feeling strings I've found. Professional strings all the way. On all my basses. What more can I say? Well, I can say Lo-Riders Love 2 Funk!
Once I discovered Lo-Riders, I put them on all my 4 and 5 string basses including Lakland USA Joe Osborn, Fender USA Jazz, Music Man Sterling (USA) 4, 5 strings, MM Stingray SLO Special, and others. These are simply the best feeling, best sounding, longest lasting strings I've found (been playing over 20 years). I like DR Hi-Beams too, but they are a bit brighter. These are deeper (though they can get bright with a few EQ tweaks) and feel great on the fingers. A bit stiffer than your average strings which helps you get that punchy sound and quick response on the plucking hand (please don't use a pick!). They last forever. I've tried to break them through slapping and popping but have been unsuccessful. They last until you take them off to do a bass setup -- otherwise I'd never change them as they retain their character even after over a year of heavy use. If you want a more tinty sound, try Hi-Beams. If you want more of a full range sound from deep rock tones, to funky slap, to bluesy thumping, these can do it all. My favorite is the logo on the front of the box with the motorcycle that says "Lo-Riders Love 2 Funk!" They should make shirts with that logo!
DR has great quality control. I've never gotten a bad package. I also like the lack of covering on the string end that wraps around the tuning keys. They look great on the headstock. They feel right on the fingers. Just install them correctly (watch a setup guide if you have to)!
They are fairly priced. These last and will retain great sound even after over 1.5 years of heavy use. I have not been able to break them as I've done with other strings. Make sure you install them in a professional manner including having at least two clean wraps around the tuning keys.

WOW!!!

Comments about DR Strings Lo Rider MH-45 Medium Stainless Steel 4-String Bass Strings:

I wanted longer string life from my strings and didnt want to change strings all the time. The solution....... these puppies. DR Strings are built to last. The strings are VERY clear and VERY twangy. SERIOUSLY these strings brought my bass back to life! People online have complained that these are too twangy but i love the twangyness. It has been a week and a day since i slapped on the strings and they have lasted since! I will still use the classic Rotosound swing bass 66 strings but i will also use these low riders in the future.

Comments about DR Strings Lo Rider MH-45 Medium Stainless Steel 4-String Bass Strings:

These are great strings. I started playing them over 4 years ago and have played nothing else. They are bright and have good thump. I use them on my custom Fender Jazz and custom Modulus Flea Bass. I won't use anything else.

Great Strings For Slapping

By Shane-akJrx

from Dayton, Ohio

Comments about DR Strings Lo Rider MH-45 Medium Stainless Steel 4-String Bass Strings:

These strings are great for anyone doing any kind of slapping. They are very responsive, do not easily lose their brightness and have a stiffness to them which let's the player have more impact/dynamic when hitting the strings with their thumb.
