Beautiful strings, but...

The first string snapped while tuning it to e.  Was using the built in  tuner on my RG20 amp, and it snapped at the nut.  First time I've ever  had a string snap on me while tuning.  Don't get me wrong, the strings  are gorgeous, and aside from the first string, all the others got in  tune pretty easily and have stayed in tune so far.  I was tuning it back  to standard today after my buddy tuned it to drop c yesterday and the  string snapped.  Aside from that, they're probably my favourite  strings.  I'll order another set, just a shame I can't get the single  string replaced itself.

Awesome for Bass not so much for Guitar

The coating is pretty solid.  I like them because they don't tarnish when your hands sweat.  I bought the heavy, green strings (.11-.50) and play with a 1.0mm pick.  I did wear the coating off the 1st, 2nd and 3rd strings (at the pick-ups not at the frets) after three set lists but that may be typical when shredding on solos and using hard attacks on power chords with a stiff pick. Under a blacklight, it's very hard to see the first 3 strings (e,b,g) but the last 3 strings (d,a,e) glow well if you're right up on a blacklight or use a high watt blacklight wash lamp.  My bass player bought some of these strings for his bass guitar and they really stand out -look sweet and glow bright!  The reason is obvious... I noticed a slight difference in tone and harmonics from uncoated strings but that can be fixed if needed by tweeking your amp settings to compensate. Probably won't buy these again because the only reason I wanted them was for the visual effect. Since only 3 strings really show up its not worth the extra mula to me.  I don't break strings very often but if you do, be prepared to shell out some dough for replacements.

If you've never played with coated strings before, it takes a little time to get used to these. The overall feeling is a bit stiffer than regular strings, due to the coating, which, by the way, is extremely durable and does not rub off quickly, even with severe tremolo picking torture. The sound is mellower (this could be good or bad, depending on which style of music you play) and it's a bit difficult to play pinch harmonics in the lower strings. Compared to the regular strings, there's a noticeable loss of sharpness and high frequencies, but the sound is still clear and powerful, and very articulate. You might have to do some adjustments to your setup in order to overcome this (add more presence/highs/gain). They look really cool once you've put them in your axe, a real head-turner, that's for sure. Not for everyone, definitely; I liked them, though.

These Strings Are Really Good, They Produce A Nice Quality Sound and Last A Long Time If Your Not Switching Between Tunings Everyday. Not To Mention They Look Beautiful In Regular Light And black-Light. Very Worth It.
