Nickel-plated bass strings on a hex core.
Lo-Rider nickel-plated bass strings are based upon hexagonal cores, wound with nickel-plated steel, specifically designed for a softer feel and a traditional warm nickel sound. These bass strings are even, long lasting, and loud with a mid-range growl. An excellent string for fretless basses Lo-Riders love to funk!

Comments about DR Strings Nickel Lo-Rider 5 String Bass Medium .130 Low B (45-130):
The DR Nickle Low Riders (45-130) are great for that piano-like string-percussive sound. Excellent low-mid range definition, and being nickle, not overly bright. Well defined low B string, tight and bouncy. Very responsive to slap, tap, and heavy finger style attack, very articulate. Great definition with a distortion peddle too. I highly recommend these for fast Heavy Metal! Kinda expensive, but you do get what you pay for, and they have lasted me 6 months without tarnishing or losing noticeable tone qualities. I can honestly only compare them to DR Highbeams 45-125, same gauge except for the low B, since those are the only strings I've used (so far) on my Thumb BO5 (why I didn't give em a 5). Highbeams are nice all around strings, but not punchy enough for my style of playing. If DR made a Nickle Low Rider set in 50-135 I'd pay top dollar for em! I'm gonna try out heavier gauge strings for comparison, but I'll keep a set of the Low Riders in my gig bag, just in case!
