OVERVIEW

Gauge 09-11-16-24-32-42.

Pure Blues electric guitar strings from DR Strings are designed with pure nickel wrap wire, roundwound upon round cores. While this is a slow, expensive method of string making, it does produce a guitar string acclaimed for increased sustain, vintage tone, and great low tones for playing rhythm to lead. The extra step of winding pure nickel around a round core give Pure Blues strings a punch that players say they are surprised to get in a vintage string. Sounds great on any guitar!

Rich tone and great sustain!

These strings are the best sounding pure nickel strings I've tried so far, the thing that gives them such a smooth and bendable feel is probably the round core - most competitors use a hex core. They sound less metallic than the ernie ball rock n rolls and the ghs pure nickels in my opinion. Their only downfall is that they don't last as long as those other brands, definitely not as long as nickel-plated steel, but I believe the advantage in tone and feel outweigh this con. I would say they last about a month before one of them goes dead or the tone is just noticably not as full, others many notice this sooner depending on how clean your fingers are and how much you play. You do have to be careful to crimp the string as the instructions explain on the inside of the box so that the outer wrapped strings don't unwrap and go dead. If the instructions are followed they should last you, but don't plan on leaving them on for over 2 months if you play 5 hours a week or more.

First let me start off with saying that these string are terrible sounding and very uncomfortable. These strings have a very high tension and are not easy on the fingers. I have bought over five packs of these and they are not all the same pack after pack. The same gauges are all different shapes? No tone, not flexible and horrible balance. I am starting to believe that the whole handmade string slogan is the truth. There is no way that these strings could have been made by a machine because they would have been way better. Stick to your normal brand and don't waste your cash on these. I would give it a zero rating if I could.

Comments about DR Strings PHR9 Pure Blues Nickel Light Electric Guitar Strings:

I put them on a hollow body just to check it out. Previously had fender pure nickel strings. These have more of a bluesy sound. I love them for that reason. I have not tried them on anything else yet. I have a set and want to try then on my Led Paul next.

Comments about DR Strings PHR9 Pure Blues Nickel Light Electric Guitar Strings:

Great strings for great tone and staying in tune. Been using these strings since 1996 and have always gotten great tone from them. Strings can be a personnal preference, feel, sound etc., Pure Blues fron DR just happen to be my personnal preference. The tone these produce to my ear sound more vintage, they just don't have the harshness that many guitar strings for electric gutars seem to produce.

Comments about DR Strings PHR9 Pure Blues Nickel Light Electric Guitar Strings:

I switched over to Fender guitars after years of playing an 11 pound Les Paul. My new Stratocaster and Telecaster sounded a bit bright. These strings mellowed out the guitars. They also last longer than the Slinky strings I was using before. I highly recommend them.

Long lasting, great sounding strings. To my ear, they put out a thicker sound than some other nickel strings.

          DR 9 blues strings

Comments about DR Strings PHR9 Pure Blues Nickel Light Electric Guitar Strings:

These DR 9 blues strings are very good- nice warm sound. The high E strings breaks easily- I had to change them twice in 2 weeks- I don't do any heavy bending- just normal bending. They should last longer than they do. Other than that, I love these blues strings!

          Inconsistant

          By violinmaster108

Comments about DR Strings PHR9 Pure Blues Nickel Light Electric Guitar Strings:

I used these strings for over a year. With these strings it's a love/hate relationship. The biggest problem is that they are inconsistant. Sometimes you'll get a good set but sometimes you'll get a bad one. Another problem is that they take some time to settle. Don't play them too hard for the first couple of days after you put them on. And keep in mind that they won't last very long if you do alot of soloing and bending.

          The BEST

Comments about DR Strings PHR9 Pure Blues Nickel Light Electric Guitar Strings:

I've been using these strings for a year now, and I must say they are wonderful! There very bright, but once you roll down the tone knob on your guitar they level out. They're very strong and durable. It gives my guitar a whole new fresh, sound when I put them on. I've got these on my SG and my goodness they bite! I love these and would highly recommend them to anybody who plays blues or classic rock. In my opinion these truly are the BEST!!
