OVERVIEW

Tired of everyday strings? You need Rare tone.

Gauges 10-14-22-30-38-48. Rare Phosphor Bronze Acoustic Guitar Strings are a departure from the standard, good-quality bronze string currently available--not necessarily better, but possessing a new, different, and stronger voice. Hand-carved archtops, dreadnoughts, and good steel string acoustic guitars of rosewood, maple, and mahogany benefit from a distinct improvement in tone, depth, and sustain with a fatter, louder sound and a deeper bottom.

Okay. I do things a little differently sometimes. I have an Ovation 1778 Elite with a maple neck very similar to an electric neck. So I decided to string it like an electric. I put a set of DR 10's strings on it and replaced the wound third with a plain .018 string. Wow! This is a fun guitar to play! I'm mostly an electric guy but lately I've been playing the Ovation at home almost exclusively. There is a whole new set of lead sounds available to me and the strings sound great for flat pickin'. I'm a DR fan anyway. They are just great strings. I am really suprized at the fulness of these light strings. Try DR, you'll be glad you did.

Review

Comments about DR Strings Rare Phosphor Bronze Lite Acoustic Guitar Strings:

DR acoustic strings are simply the BEST strings I have EVER played. First off, their Tite-Fit technology does more than you might think. As explained, it does add more material to the strings than other brands making their life longer. But beyond that, the compression involved in Tite-Fit also gives these strings a great feel. How can you say something of a string's feel you ask? Well, for one, being that DR's compression process actually squeezes the string tightly, this allows the 'ridges' felt on the string to be reduced, making chording and fretting the guitar far easier than with any other brand. Far beyond feel, DR's tone surpasses many strings I've played. Brighter, fuller and more resonant sounding notes have come out of my guitar. Although brands like Elixir and other coated strings have measures to resist corrosion, in my opinion, that extra coating just dampens the string making tone suffer GREATLY. DR has found a way to avoid having to cover the vital parts of the string to allow the FULL tone to come through. I have made the switch and will continue stringing on DR's.

Comments about DR Strings Rare Phosphor Bronze Lite Acoustic Guitar Strings:

I've been playing guitar for a few years now, and have tried quite a few strings. These DR Rares are by far the best! When I first started to buy them about a year ago, I definitely noticed they were great! It wasn't until recently, however that I noticed they were the best. The other day ago I put some D'addarios on my guitar. In comparison to the DR's they are awful! I can't believe it! My expensive guitar actually sounds as bad as a first act now! I can't wait to get my next pack of DR's so my guitar sounds great again. These are a must have!

    Incredible Strings

Comments about DR Strings Rare Phosphor Bronze Lite Acoustic Guitar Strings:

Went To my local GuitarCenter to buy a set of Elixir acoustic guitar strings for my Taylor 412CE, but they stopped carrying them because of what ever reason. The salesman recommended D'Addario exp strings, but I have bought a set a week prior for my other guitar and really disliked them. The tone and feel was not of high calibur quality. So I thought about it, then chose instead to give the DR strings a try. Wow!!! I was totally blown away by just how musical these strings sound on my Taylor. The feel and response is awesome, the level of string Sustain is fantastic, These strings will save you cash as well. I wont be missing the use of elixir strings. DR did a great job with these strings!

Comments about DR Strings Rare Phosphor Bronze Lite Acoustic Guitar Strings:

My guitar is exceptionally warm sounding and I was using Martin Silk & Phosphors. These DR's brought my guitar to life. Bigger sound with added brightness (but not TOO bright). Big, punchy sound. Only been on for a few days so I can't speak to consistancy on longevity yet but the tone is EXACTLY what I was looking for. I have found the perfect strings for my Larrivee L.

Comments about DR Strings Rare Phosphor Bronze Lite Acoustic Guitar Strings:

I went to the store to get the Earthwood Rock and Blues Ernie Ball acoustic strings, but they didn't have them. Instead, I got these. Overall I am pleased. The low tension makes the bending easy (sometimes almost too easy - you need to watch yourself to avoid unintentional bends). It is easy to adjust your playing after just a little bit of time. I do wish the strings had the slightly larger 42-52 on the A/E (instead of 38-48) for a bit more low end, but I'd have to compare head-to-head to really see the difference. I really like that I can pick up the acoustic more, now that I can play/practice all of the bluesy lead parts with the bends etc. If you want to gove your acoustic more of an electric guitar playability, give these a try. For me, it was a revelation.

My turn to rave about these strings

Comments about DR Strings Rare Phosphor Bronze Lite Acoustic Guitar Strings:

I have a pretty decent Washburn acoustic electric guitar but have struggled to get full tone and warmth from it. I worked on it and did all I could with the neck, nut and bridge to make it more playable. I put on 11's to try to get more depth of tone but after a while I realized that I play much cleaner on 10's so I bought these strings. I am completely happy and amazed at the even tone and warmth that these strings produce. It has turned my pretty decent guitar into a really nice sounding guitar. I can't wait to play it every day. From the first strum after tuning it was clear that these strings make a huge difference in tone, warmth and depth. I will never buy a different set of strings for my acoustics again. I dinged the review on the price a little because I bought them about a week ago for about a dollar less per set, so the cost went up since then. But I would still by them at this price. Great, great, great set of strings! I can play again!

Comments about DR Strings Rare Phosphor Bronze Lite Acoustic Guitar Strings:

In over 50 years of playnig I have never found a better string than DR. I have always used the medium gauge however due to some arthritis developing in my left index finger I have switched to light gauge to see if it can help. I have never been careful about changing strings and the DR strings last a long time. I change strings once or twice a year. I play a lot and a year is too long. I would not recomment anyone wait that long as the strings, any strings, will get to sounding dull. I use acoustic strings but have a fishman pickup installed in my guitar. I have only played one gig since putting on the light gauge strings and playing thump style the bottom end seems to suffer a little so I have to come up with some adjustments like pidking harder with my thump pick. I haven,t used any other strings than DR for the past 20 years. They are definately the best.

DR Strings Rare Phosphor Bronze Lite Acoustic Guitar Strings good strings. I think they will be a hit when people discover them. A Luther turned me own to them after doing a set up on my 1980 custom deluxe ovation. The strings resonate better than my D'Addario strings. Santa bough me a DRS1 for Christmas which has Martin SP 7100 Phosphor Bronze Lifespan Coated Acoustic Strings Light, and I will replace them after I play them for a while.

I normally change my guitar strings every 4 to 6 weeks. I've been trying different brands in order to save money. I put on a set of DR RPL10's 3 months ago and they are still just like the day I put them on. DR is now my string of choice.

The strings feel great....I don't like D'Addario because the windings feel harsh.
Sound amazing and last longer than others. Last longer than most uncoated strings. I use the extra lights and add 12, 16 steel strings. Instead of the 10, 14

Comments about DR Strings Rare Phosphor Bronze Lite Acoustic Guitar Strings:

I have a Taylor guitar that used to sound great with ELIXIR Strings, my guitar was set too high and had it adjusted and it just never sounded right again. Tried Cleartone, Elixir which I use on My tele and Les Paul and other brands and nothing sounded good, most sounded heavy and dead. I saw an ad about Rare and tried them. I was really surprised that my guitar sounded like it got a new breath of air and sounded so good again that I started liking to play it again. They are cheap to buy and last for months, if they only lasted a month I would still buy them. I like how lively they sound and I now buy DR for my Les Paul. So for upping you acoustic guitar sounds buy them, that what I tell everyone. I use the 11's myself due to it helps with the spacing on a couple of my frets.
