OVERVIEW

Tired of everyday strings? You need Rare tone.

Gauges 13-17-26-34-45-56. Rare Phosphor Bronze Acoustic Strings are a departure from the standard, good quality bronze string currently available--not necessarily better, but possessing a new, different, and stronger voice. Hand-carved archtops, dreadnoughts, and good steel string acoustic guitars of rosewood, maple, and mahogany benefit from a distinct improvement in tone, depth, and sustain with a fatter, louder sound and a deeper bottom.

Comments about DR Strings Rare Phosphor Bronze Medium Heavy Acoustic Guitar Strings:

DR RARE 13s are simply a great set of strings. There's a reason pros and guitarists with a lot of experience like these strings. If you're looking for superior warmth and projection, extremely good balance from string to string, and consistent tone from the time you put them on to a time a lot later when you decide to change them, these are it. I'm a long time player in many acoustic formats, and love these for rhythm or lead work in a bluegrass format, and for solo acoustic fingerstyle work. They make a rosewood dreadnought ring clearly without any "tinny" overtone, and absolutely bring all the best out of a mahogany dreadnought. String tension is very comfortable and provides for a lot of sustain.

I also use Martin SP mediums, D'Addario EJ17s and the new NB1356 Nickel Bronze strings. I hate coated strings of any kind! A little variety is a good thing, and RARE 13s occupy the fretboard space on my D-18 Golden Era pretty much all the time these days. If your acoustic is well balanced already and you want a great sounding strings that will sound great out of the package, hold intonation and tone for a long time, is extremely well balanced, and feels great under your fingers, this is the set for you!

        Waste of metal

Comments about DR Strings Rare Phosphor Bronze Medium Heavy Acoustic Guitar Strings:

I've tried these strings on all 3 of my acoustics. They sound very warm and clear at first but the tone deteriorates rapidly and the action gets progressively stiffer and tinny sounding as they stretch, which seems counter-intuitive I know but that has been my experience. I really wanted to give them a chance due to the claim that they were full sounding and exceptionally flexible ( I've tried the light gauge also and they are way TOO flexible and REALLY tinny)I've tried many different brands of strings and always come back to Martin Marquis or Acoustic SP light gauge, at least for my acoustic guitars. (I've tried the DR pure blues for my strat and tele and have no complaints so far).
