Comments about DR Strings Zebra Acoustic Electric Lite (9-42):
I don't think these strings are for everyone. They're far too light even to think about pounding with a flatpick for Bluegrass, IMHO. But for "parlor guitar" mostly fingerpicked stuff, they're marvelous.
The tone can't be matched by silk 'n' steel in mhy opinion, but they play as easy or easier on a well setup low action as classical strings if you wanna do a bit of Bach or whatever. Amp or PA board settings can add a bit of thickness to the tone on stage.
I can't speak to the guy switching from flatpicking a light-stringed electric very well because he/she may find the tone lacking on an acoustic if the same pick technique is used in the same place on the string length.
Beginners... if the guitar is set up high, as is common on a lot of low-end guitars, the fingering would be easy, but also easy to sound out of tune with beginner technique. They should consider at least the 10s if not 11s for a "light" string, again, in my own opinion.
Comments about DR Strings Zebra Acoustic Electric Lite (9-42):
They're the best strings that money can buy. I've been playing for 40+ years.
I'm usually an electric guitar player. I wanted to be able to do unplugged stuff and still bend strings a lot. These are great strings. With proper EQ and reverb or chorus etc. they sound great.

I'm a professional musician i.e. (my light bill and the food that I eat are paid for via shows I play) I use these strings on my Godin A6 Ultra w/ the humbucker/pieso duel output guitar and they sound wonderful. A little pricy though...
Comments about DR Strings Zebra Acoustic Electric Lite (9-42):
I usually wear 9-42s on my electrics that I play more than the acoustics - in retrospect, largely because it's hard enough to find even 10s for acoustic. I'm a light-touch fingerpicker. These 9-42s sound good on two Epi A-E guitars and will now also go onto a 1970s first generation A-E Ovation Electric Legend. If you beat on the strings, they aren't much. It may take a bit different setup, especially if the guitar originally was setup for a wrapped G. There's a lot less tension than with heavier strings and the neck may react to that and give some fret buzz. It's wy they can be adjusted.Set up right, perfect for light, quick fingerpicking without the odd sound of silk 'n' steel either amplified or acoustic. They're probably more resistant to breakage, although I don't recommend pounding a flat pick on 'em.As I said, I'm buying more, and for electric I prefer Elixir 9-42. But they apparently do not plan to add a lighter acoustic set. I s'pose I could buy individual Elixirs but... these are quite nice.
Comments about DR Strings Zebra Acoustic Electric Lite (9-42):
These strings, just don't die. I've used tons of other strings before. Mostly Ernie Ball. I can't say they're my favorite, since I like to use different strings to mix it up. I just need that different sound. These are one of my favorites. I've been trying to find more.
