I used Dunlop Tortex .50mm for close to 20 yrs, but decided to try the Ultex .60mm (lightest Ultex guage) about 5 yrs ago, after reading an interview w/ Jim Dunlop. I have used nothing else since.
For me, the best attributes of Ultex is the attack & clarity they add. They also make you feel like you turned your volume up... the notes just jump off the pick, very lively. They are more rigid than pick of the same guage made from other materials, so you might want to try a guage lower than what you're used to. They also last a lot longer than celluloid, nylon or tortex picks, although they're not "Indestructible" as Dunlop claims.
Try them out... you'll never go back!

I have used a few different variations of the Ultex picks over the past few years and while they deliver crisp tone, they flake, chip and flat out break far too quickly under the strain of live performances. For the money I'll stick with Tortex picks. Twice the pick, half the money.

Comments about Dunlop 421P Ultex Guitar Picks:
I have used picks made of every material, metal, wood, bone, horn, agate, plastic, nylon and only God knows what else. I have been using Ultex 0.73s for about 3 years. I find that Ultex give me the best results.

Comments about Dunlop 421P Ultex Guitar Picks:
I ordered a pack of this and a pack of Tortex .73mm picks. A dozen of the .73 came, but only one of the .60mm. Seems there was a tear in the bag and maybe when packing the box, most of them fell out.
Called MF up, they were helpful buuut only to send me another packet of Tortex .73. At this point, I just became frustrated. I don't know how much clearer I could have been. This is a great product - I wish I had more than one instead of 2 dozen picks that I don't need. I recommend this product because it works so well with my style of playing and guitar but TRIPLE CHECK YOUR ORDER.

Comments about Dunlop 421P Ultex Guitar Picks:
I like using these picks. They are snappy and hard, and that type of action translates into my guitar picking.
These picks have great bite and sharpness compared to other brands of picks of similar thickness.
These picks are strong and difficult to break. They will break if you try hard enough. These picks will last a long while, but not forever. But, what lasts forever anyways?
These picks are appropriately priced. They are not expensive.
Comments about Dunlop 421P Ultex Guitar Picks:
These picks are the closet material next to real tortoise shell and make a real difference in flatpickingbluegrass on something like an old 54 d-18 with medium strings, I have used a single pick for over a years period of time playing up 30hrs a month and the only reason I have ever had to replace it was because I lost it. Great picks

Comments about Dunlop 421P Ultex Guitar Picks:
I have been using these picks exclusively ever since I discovered them. (about 2 1/2 years) These picks are tough as nails. I use these picks on both electric and bass, and my fingers will start bleeding 10 times over before these picks give out. I used one pick all through marching season playing bass every day, pretty heavily, and it never wore out, although I did lose it. I have stocked up on these picks, just so I never run out. I use heavy 1 mm picks generally, on bass, electric, and acoustic. These picks give a very bright tone, they will brighten up even the muddiest of buckers, and they are very responsive when soloing. They also give a nice snap to the bass. I would certainly recommend everybody check out these picks, they will not disappoint.
Comments about Dunlop 421P Ultex Guitar Picks:
I broke 2 picks during 2 songs. Yes, I was strumming hard but Tortex picks have never broken before even when I strum really hard.
Comments about Dunlop 421P Ultex Guitar Picks:
This picks sound the best, no doubt. But people don't seem to be mentioning the fact that they wear down very quickly. I play the .73 on medium strings with my acoustic, and I run through these picks like its my job. I've even worn down a pick in a 3 hour gig.The biggest problem is that when they get worn down the edges start to crack and get tiny chips. This cause the pick to start catching on the strings while plying, which is entirely annoying. The other thing is that they create a nasty dust as they get worn down that collects on your guitar (like an electric, or in my case my Celebrity Deluxe Ovation, whose sound holes are not in the center.)I rarely write reviews , especially for picks. But I felt compelled to share this. I will keep buying them because I love the tone, but it hurts every time I have to. You should not have to go through that many picks that fast. So don't let that rhino on the pick fool you, these are not that durable.
