OVERVIEW

A guitar setup and repair aid.

The Dunlop Formula 65 Neck Cradle was developed by renowned guitar builder and master inlay artist Ron Thorn. The Neck Cradle is a revolutionary guitar setup and repair aid. The self-aligning cradle rotates on an axis to provide full support to the back or front of the neck for increased stability during repairs or maintenance work. In the up position, the neck support's angle can accommodate a wide range of body thicknesses while holding guitars securely in place. Flip the neck cradle into the down position to work on electronics or the back of the guitar--the neoprene pad keeps your guitar from moving and protects the frets from damage. Guitarists, guitar techs, and guitar builders will find the Dunlop Neck Cradle a versatile and indispensable tool that will never leave their workbench.

This handy tool sure beats just a bath towel and a old pillow stuck under the neck spread out on the bar. I use it to change strings, polish, or doing a full set up. It's better built than I thought it would be. It don't slip around and keeps the guitar from slipping around under normal use and pressure needed to do the job. I recommend getting one if you do your own work or in my case mine and a few others to.

As a pro repiarman, I need my neck rest to be at many different heights. While this Dunlop tilts and has a small footprint, it has no height adjustment and is too light. It would be great if it was height adjustable, heavier and also held tools and such.

Great product, sure simplifies sting changing. Combined with the mat, adds a level of protection against scratching and other damages that could occur as a result of dropping or unstable working surface.

Comments about Dunlop formula 65 Neck Cradle Maintenance Station:

I've used it for changing strings and it does a good job. I'm not experienced enough to mess around with the electronics inside a guitar nor do I really need to at the moment, but I bought this cradle so I could work on it on the back side as well when I need to.

This is a must for all guitar players. It's well-built and not only has a cradle side, but you can flip the cradle over for a flat surface. The cradle will accommodate guitars, banjos, resonators -- you name it. This would also be a great gift item.

I found that the maintenance station works best with electric guitars because it keeps them at an angle that makes it easier for me to work on. For acoustic guitars it it basically lies the guitar flat but stable. I would prefer it one to two inches taller to keep the guitar at an angle. To get around this limitation I just put a book under it.
