I gave "features" a 9 as this INGENIOUS device only comes in a light-guage chrome/steel. If they added glass and brass flavors that would be 10. I like the Hoolahan a lot! Comfortable while in playing position AND when turned away it allows you to mix in some slide (does need some practice for fluid changes) without losing a fretting finger. Far superior to other designs. Great for students-even better for serious players. I own about 12 slides including tubes, bars, shorts, strap-ons, swivels etc. This is THE BEST. Unless you're completely into tradition for tradition's sake, you will probably be glad you tried this slide. More styles in this design, please! The rather light steel is a nice general tone that leans more toward glassy than brassy. Go from swampy blues to spacey theremin sounds then finger full-voiced chords--it rulz. Loose sizing seems intended for easier rotation.

When talking about the design of this slide, I can find no other that tops it. It's easy to flip around, it's very convenient and it looks good. But sound-wise, it's terrible. It's such a thin slide, it barely has any sustain. It sounds very tinny and it scratches the strings producing an unwanted scratchy sound. I wouldn't suggest it for the audiophiles out there, but if you really need something that's easy to switch from normal fingering to slide, I'd suggest this over the Jetslide.

Extremely Nice Slide

By valhallas_end

I was quite surprised by this slide - I bought it to replace my 4th broken glass slide. I play on electric and an old acoustic, and the Hoolahan sounds great on both - just a speck tinny on the electric, but I'm getting heavier strings soon, and anyway, any good amp smooths that out. Plays surprisingly well on nylon acoustic strings, bright tone. It's pretty quick to learn to spin the slide to fretting position too. Nice design there, comfortable on any finger (I play ring or middle, depending)

great slide

By rockin out

from Ludington, MI

I just got this slide today and I think its amazing. I went with the medium because I wear it on my ring finger. It fits my finger snug in both positions but still allows for quick fingerpicking for solos or anything really. It sounds good, looks good, and plays easy. Its a great slide if you want to switch between slide and solos.

Dunlop Hoolahan Slide

By tandm3

from NW Florida

The Hoolahan slide is a great design, well made, and even though I normally love everything that Dunlop makes (especially their picks), I was dissappointed with this slide. The sound is thin and has no sustain. If this slide were made of .063" or thicker steel or brass, this would be the only slide I'd use.

GAH!!! Sizes Please?

By supersized slide

from seattle, wa

I bought the small. The small is 17 mm for the inside diameter. Pretty tight... I think you should stick with the medium. The only problem I have had is the bottom ocassionally getting stuck in the slide position -- 55 mm length for small. and in the playable position, the finger is only capable of soloing, chords difficult.

The hoolahan slide is no more than a cheap gimic. It adds nothing to the guitar playing experience. I much prefer the Mudslide.

Dunlop Hoolahan slide,GREAT VALUE!

By Josh S. Akins

from Lanett, AL

I absolutley love this slide! The quality is great. The sound beats most every other slide I've used. I got the medium size, it was a little big for my finger, but I can switch from fingering to sliding eaisier than normal. Like it is stated on the box, this slide solves the century-old problem of fingering while using a slide. This is a great slide. I'd highly recommed buying this product.

Never Leaves Your Hand

I've actually tapered thicker slides to get the same effect; you can keep this slide on for hours and never slows you down. You must get the right size diameter though!
