I use my pinky finger for slide playing and I find it very hard to find slides that will fit snuggly as I my fingers are smaller than most. This slide is the only ceramic type that I've found that fits. I prefer ceramic slides to glass and metal for the music that I play. It's not to rough on the outside which translates to a nice smooth sound. I have both glass and metal slides for traditional blues but I find myself going back to the Joe Perry slide for overall comfort and sound.

Comments about Dunlop Joe Perry Boneyard Signature Guitar Slide:

I purchased several slides for Dobro use. After extensive use, the top three all turned out to be longer Dunlop ones.

      (1) The longer "Joe Perry" version is still my favorite - easiest to play and smoothest yet rich sound. OTOH, I found the short version to be unusable.

Since I typically use this slide on my pinky finger, I wish there was a small/long version that was slightly smaller (or thicker) for a snugger pinky-fit to further enhance playability.

      (2) The Dunlop Sardinas tapered "preachin pipe" is the second most useful - smooth sound and a bit more edge than Joe Perry, lighter weight than other brass slides

      (3) Dunlop Harris tapered brass slide - more complex edgy sound than Sardinas but not as smooth - if used on pinky, extra weight could be more fatiguing (I added a foam ring to slide over the bottom of my pinky for extra comfort and support while playing.)

      http://www.musiciansfriend.com/accessories/dunlop-harris-brass-guitar-slide

FYI: on brass slides, I prefer to play with the widest end pointing up/out.

Comments about Dunlop Joe Perry Boneyard Signature Guitar Slide:

Until I got a Rocky Mountain Monarch, this was my favorite slide. It worked well in open D tuning on several acoustics and semi-hollow body electrics I've used. The outside finish is smooth and flawless, but I found that the logo side can sound scratchy so I only use the 'clean' side toward the strings. I liked the upbeat logo at first but after a few weeks I got tired of looking at it ... if they come out with a plain exterior I'd probably get one. The first one I got rolled off a coffee table, fell 18" and broke on a hardwood floor so I ordered a couple more as spares. Overall it's a great slide - good dimensions for my finger size - and worth the money.

This slide fits good over the first 2 knuckles of the ring finger. The ceramic outside finish is smooth and glossy for that glass slide sound. The inside is porous so it doesn't slide around on your finger and sweat is no problem.

I looove this slide! It's tone isn't the same as a glass slide, a little less warm and more resonant. Not as metallic as metal (duh. A problem I have with glass slides is my fingers sweat - ALOT. The porous interior tones it down a bit. No slipping off! I got the largo/short size which isn't offered here, but it fits perfect on my pinky, and like a coricidian bottle on my middle finger, which is good because I have long fingers so it needs to sit more in the middle for it to feel right on me. There are a few tiny bubbles in the finish but hey, it's glazed so it's inevitable. This slide is perfect for me!

If I broke this slide, I'd replace it in a heart beat. I've had it about 3 weeks. I bought a brass slide the same day, and tried them both. Perrys slide kicked the piss out of the other slide. I've also played with pyrex slides, and still the porcelin tone is the sweetest hands down. Defiantly dig the texture on the inside, too. It grips your finger and wont slip around. Don't let the stigma of a "signature" slide fool you. it just sounds sweet. If Duane Allman made a slide from beyond the grave, it would probably sound just like this. hmm... boneyard? bottom line, buy it, and try it. Stick it in your bag of tricks, pro or novice, both will benefit.

I've tried all kinds of slide; porcelain, pyrex glass, crome searching my tone, and my quest is finished! This is the best kick a**-sounding slide ever made. It fits perfect my pinky finger and has a pure, noiseless, warm sound, I mean it have the best of all kinds in one. The only side down is the price, somebody tell if am I wrong, but I think it s a little overpriced; but if you are upset about thin-weak-noisy slide sounding, you'll find your sound here, go ahead try it, you won't be dissapointed.

I just got this slide a week ago, and let me tell you, it blows all my other slides away. The tone is remarkable , and I don't know what they used for the interior , but it stays on your fingers perfectly. I usually use my metal slides on my electrics , and glass on my acoustic guitars , but this slide is superb for both.

This slide turned all of my acoustic and electric blues to a warm tone. It seems to be made out of a layered ceramic finish, so as it ages, it gets these cool vintage spider-cracks on the finish. Like a guitar from the 30's and 40's. But, its not on the outside it is internal so, it doesn't change the sound or durability at all. Just the look. I've dropped it multiple times and it still is just as cool as ever. The Joe Perry signature on it is really cool and the cream color attributes to the vintage look.

This is my favorite slide for any guitar/style. Period. Its got a warm tone like glass, but its loud like metal without all the noise. The large is a bit small, so it may be awkward for ring-finger sliders, but it fits well above the knuckle for me, and it doesn't slip around like glass ones. If you can look past the "signature" banner, this may be the last slide you'll ever need.

I've had mine for 2 years now. It's got a real nice warm sound to it, full bodied I guess would be a nice way to put it. It's way nicer sounding than my Dunlop 220. It's not as bright and sounds better on bass strings. I've managed to drop it a few times and it's not so much as cracked. It's a great slide and if I did break it or lose it, I'd be back for another one. I never tried this on acoustic guitar, so I couldn't tell you if it sounds good on there.

This slide really is the best I've ever played with. The only complaint I would have is that the inside of the slide isnt wide enough for people with bigger knuckles. I'm gonna have to somehow carve the inside out alittle bit because I'm not a pinky slider. But this has by far the BEST sound I have ever heard in slide blues. Minimal "noise" and it doesnt have that annoying glass tinny sound. Also, it gives you the most control over the notes you hit. With most smaller slides you have to make sure you move it directly over the fret... with the Joe Perry slide all you have to do is give it a little vibrato in the vicinity of the fret and you've got the note.. allows for MUCH faster playing. This slide WILL help you become a better guitarist. Joe Perry... you're my hero.

This slide sounds much warmer and thicker than just pyrex glass. The closest slide to give me that Duane Allman tone yet. It fits a size 9 ring size and a wear it on my ring finger. Only down side is it gets a little heavy after a few songs. Overall great slide.
