I am using this on my latest acquisition, a nice Joe Morrell Pro 6 string lapsteel guitar, and am getting great sounds using the tonebar.

I had no idea the Tonebar would be as heavy and masssive as it is, and I've had difficulty using it and it quickly tires my left hand. I mentioned this to other players and they say that I'll get used to it, and that you want a heavy tonebar to give it solid tone. They also said most of the time the tonebar rests on the strings and it is often moved while resting on the strings. An observation of my friend's playing appeared to show exactly the opposite, with frequent moves of the bar off the string requiring almost constant lifting. Like anything else, I'm sure I will adapt to the tool and have no reason to think otherwise.

This chrome-plated brass is quite beautiful to behold and if anything should change my initial opinion of this I will update the review.

Had No Idea What I Wanted

The end of the bar needs to be rounder...smoother.
Possibly the lipstick style bar would be better. Or a bar whose ends are more rounded.

The weight is perfect. Very comfortable and gives (to my ear) a nice rich tone across the strings.

Comments about Dunlop Lap Dawg Chromed Brass Tonebar:

I have used longer bars and it takes time getting use to keeping this one centered on the strings, going from a rounded tip to this one I sometimes "catch" strings on the end. This will go away with practice and retraining yourself.

I'm just getting into the resonator scene and this was affordable so I bought it to use with my first resonator. It's made great and sounds great but it's too small for my hands. I will be looking for something a little longer.

I would recommend it, but only if your hands are on the small side.

A good value, but if you have big hands go with the stevens brand bar...
I have bigger hands so this is a little small for me, but overall the weight is right, nice smooth finish, needed to be knurled on to though for better control, it is a little slippery...

                  See above.
I play a 6 string lap steel guitar and have tried a couple sizes of bullet slides, neither of which I felt comfortable with. The lap dawg is easier for me to hold on to and control. Also, if your looking for that Hank WIlliams/ Patsy Cline steel guitar sound, I highly recommend Don Helm's lap steel guitar book "You're cheating heart."
                  Excellent
A bit over priced I think.
