This picks are just great for accuracy, and getting that 'Djent' tone. I first heard about these from the guitarist in Shadows Fall, and decided to try it out. I tried every thickness and now use the 1.35mm (black) ones and very pleased with it. To me, this picks gives a little snappier, rounder, fuller tone than standard shaped picks because of the sharp tip. It takes some getting use to but once you get comfortable with it, you wont feel like using standard shaped picks. Try them out!

I wanted to try this pick because I basically wanted a larger version of the Jazz III. It is a larger shape than the Jazz III, but since it doesn't have the beveled edges it play quite a bit different. If you like square edges to your picks, then this one is for you. I imagine it would be good for heavy riffing.

These picks are great for metal, especially for techniques like pinch harmonics. They are good for being able to get aggressive with your picking and play fast and clean at the same time.

Comments about Dunlop Tortex Sharp Guitar Picks 1 Dozen:

Had a few of these lying around from a year ago, I gave up on them shortly after realizing they were sharps and not the regulars I ordered around that time. However, after playing with Jazz III picks for months(which helped me with my picking method/style/technique), I couldn't manage to hit my metal rhythms like I wanted to: Enter the lost Dunlop Sharp picks. I had a dozen untouched purple sharps, and all I can say is that not only is my playing CLEANER, but also I can play FASTER!!! This is the only pick I'll buy from now on!

Comments about Dunlop Tortex Sharp Guitar Picks 1 Dozen:

Well, they're tortex. Who hasn't tried it? Basically like a sanded down/coated in baking soda type feel. What makes them stand out is the unique shape. They continue where the 351 point leaves off, instead continually getting sharper until it reaches a sharp point. I personally bought the purple 1.14 heavy picks. They get caught on the strings in a good way. If you're a sloppy picker, try these to improve your right-hand technique (Or left hand, for you weird lefties.DO NOT WANT(Lefties, that is)).The only issue (and some people like this) is that they are a little bright sounding because of the extra sharp tip. Another thing to notice is that if you have tried the ultex sharp also, the tip is not sculpted like the ultex sharp. The tortex sharp is a straight pointy V. The last thing to note is that power chords are not any weaker with this pick. Those people are the people who send a guitar back for buzzing slightly, lose picks like mo'fo's, blow tubes and wear down fretboards. Try these. They're about 40 cents each, what do you have to lose? IF you're really short on cash, just skip a meal.

Comments about Dunlop Tortex Sharp Guitar Picks 1 Dozen:

I use 1.14mm Tortex Sharps exclusively. I do file them slightly just to get a bevel on the edges. It helps to cross the strings smoother. These picks are great for fast alternate picking and sweeping. There is very little give which means you get a nice clean attack. The sharpened tip means there is very little surface area touching the string which equals less drag. The heavy gauge I use can be a little tougher to use then a lighter gauge pick when playing funk rhythms but I have adapted. Overall I find it to be the best feeling pick for my style of playing.

Comments about Dunlop Tortex Sharp Guitar Picks 1 Dozen:

These picks provide fast, accurate articulation of notes. The sharper tip is excellent and provides faster strumming and is great for alternate picking too. I have literally used these for over ten years. The green gauge is both rigid enough for heavy power chords but flexible enough for serious strumming. These picks rock.

Comments about Dunlop Tortex Sharp Guitar Picks 1 Dozen:

Fell in love with Dunlop Tortex the first time I used them. I used celluloid for 40 yrs. I settled on the Triangle style after trying them. I was using the Blue 1mm for a while then tried the 1mm Ultrex (worked great on the Mandolin). The Ultrex were great but wore fast and always with a hook in them, (softer I guess) where the Tortex wear evenly. This time I moved to the 1.14mm and these are it I think...... They are excellent for me on Guitar and Mandolin, so far.. I tried the White 1.4 Tortex(I think 1.4), and they were great but I wanted the Tri. Gave them to my buddy and he wont let them go!!

Comments about Dunlop Tortex Sharp Guitar Picks 1 Dozen:

I had been using the Ultex Sharp 1.14 picks and really liked those. I had some regular Tortex lying around and liked the tone a little better. So I ordered these sharps expecting them to be like the Ultex, but the sides have no curve and are flat. As a result the tip end area is skinnier. Tone is different, less full than regular Tortex to my ears. In general, the Tortex surface is a little more slippery than the Ultex and this could be a little harder to hold. I wish they made Tortex with a textured surface for grip. These are ok - but for me not a great pick. I will look at Jazz III Tortex.

Always liked Dunlop picks. In the old days I used to trim the tip of my picks to make a sharper point. Thought I'd try these already-pointy ones.

Comments about Dunlop Tortex Sharp Guitar Picks 1 Dozen:

Not that I'm old (45), but I see youngsters trying to play as fast as they can, but very sloppy with 'medium' or lighter pics. Maybe someone out there can, but I've found the only way to be fast AND precise is with a heavier gauge pick. I played with .88's for years, but when I switched to a 1.0, my speed picked up significantly (along with a lot of practice of course). I may go even heavier at some point.

PLUS, they're indestructible. The sides by the tip will wear a bit (as they should), but you can do pick slides all day without cutting 'grooves' into your pick.

It is a larger shape than the Jazz III, but since it doesn't have the beveled edges it play quite a bit different. If you like square edges to your picks, then this one is for you. Comments about Dunlop Tortex Sharp Guitar Picks 1 Dozen:

I have been using floppy orange tortex picks for the longest time. Had trouble playing riffs as the attack on those picks were weak. Tried these out and immediately noticed a difference in the tone and clarity of the notes. I thought that the sharp edges would make it harder to strum chords but if anything, they gave them more attack and a punchier sound. Would definitely recommend these picks to everyone of all genres!

Tried these recently and like them like all tortex units. They are particularly good for acoustic 12-string leads I have found.Like all tortex picks they sound good and WEAR instead of BREAK! This is a big issue because I'm a bluegrass player. I tear up guitars, strings and picks. I'm sure you metal guys know what I mean also. Crummy, stiff picks (like fender picks)break into a million pieces. These do wear but don't do this. They aren't the best strictly rhythm pick- those softer, flexible dunlops and the old martin picks they don't make any more are. However, these are versatile and are good for lead and rhythm acoustic (and elecetric). The sharp point doesnt work that good on the 6 string martin I have ( I use standard tortex 73's on this) but these sharps in 88 are really good on my 12 string guild. They actually change its sound for the better.

I am a member of a tech metal band and our lead guitarist uses these because there is are riffs we play that are extremely difficult to play without these picks. We use the yellows and they are like a precision instrument.

A few years ago I saw a guitarist using one of these and I had never seen one before. I asked him if I could try it, but I didn't like it. Fast forward a few years, I somehow found one in my pocket. It was the black 1.35 mm, It cleaned up my rhythm playing substantially and felt better playing with it. For a reference as to what it would compare to, its pretty much a standard size jazz III or ultex sharp type pick with a sharper point for people who like more area to grab on a pic.

Great quality picks. My only issues are with triplets/galloping (I got the 88s, and I don't know if the thickness is my problem considering I haven't tried any of the thinner ones). I previously used jazz 73s strictly so it could be that I'm not done adjusting to these. To me, they make it even easier to sweep/solo in general than with jazz picks. Like the guy 2 below me said, the ink smudges in like one hour tho. But who buys picks for the fine quality ink the manufacturers put on them?

Round tip picks never made sense to me. It seems as if they slide over the string, as opposed to getting more of an attack with sharp tip picks. As a metal player, I found things like alternate picking, strumming, playing big chords great with these. Sweep picking on the other hand took a bit to get used to but just give them a few practice sessions and you should feel the difference. Great alternative to picks like the Jazz 3 I found those way too small and they would always slip. Would rate this 5 stars but still have not found the perfect pick yet.
