The strings on my Martin HD-28 guitar were really getting dead. Some of the wound strings, like the A (5th) string almost sounded like rubber bands instead of metal strings. It was really that bad.

I rubbed in the Dunlop cleaner thoroughly and I was surprised that the strings sounded almost brand new then. In fact, they sounded just like new strings that had a chance to stretch a little bit and sound good after they'd been tuned a couple of times.

I agree with one of the other reviewers that it's hard to get fluid flowing into the applicator tip. I had to press down pretty hard. Also, I think the cleaner does have somewhat of a petroleum odor, but the odor isn't really strong or offensive. I wouldn't consider the odor a major concern.

Overall, I'm very impressed that a cleaner like this can restore so much sound to dirty strings. It also proves that strings that sound dead aren't necessarily worn out. They're just dirty.

Trying to find a good string cleaner that works as well as Luthier's Choice that I don't have to buy in a set. I love the LC products, but have to buy the polish, conditioner, and string cleaner as a set and I wind up with more conditioner than 20 players could ever use. Was hoping the Dunlop stuff would work out but it's not the answer. Smells like kerosene and doesn't seem to work as well as the Luthier's Choice. Will stick with Gibson product for a while, I guess.

This stuff works. Wipe it on and run a cloth up and down each string. Rust and grime come off and the strings are left slick and smooth. Seems to about double the lifetime of my strings.

One pass over some dull strings will extend your time between needing to change them.
Makes for smoother and faster feel up and down the fret board as well, Not greasy though.

I wouldn't try to bring totally dead and dirty strings back to life with it. Sometimes you should just change your strings and no magic potion is gonna make them play and feel as good as fresh out of the pack strings.
BUT if your strings are just in that between stage of not totally dead, but starting to sound not as bright; This stuff will do the trick.

I bought this because M.F. no longer carries ,Blitz String care ,,,,,,,,I don't get how smearing this along the top of the strings and fretboard does anything..The sauce in the bottle may be good stuff ,,but the application method is ,,,stupid...I notice when the strings get real grimy, there is debris on the underside,,,so a rag with some sauce on it seems like a better deal ,,,and that is why I prefer Blitz String care ,,It is amazing!!

ive used fastfret ghs product dor years .........the dunlop cleaner/conditioner is quick ....for hi-end strings helps the life last far longer and with better tone than anything ive ever used.......its not for kids so dont be stupid and buy this product and except a child to not put it everywhere .......comes out evenly and coats the strings better than the gun oil with silicone that does the same thing only guncks up your fret board........i suggest you buy the best .....and this is it .........thanks for listening .......keep shredding
                    truly ......

Okay so i got this is one of the kits and i must say......did the guys at dunlop hire some sort of wizard?? Now I sweat a good amount sometimes when I'm playing and I must say the one day i didn't clean the strings on my bass (I just got use to using this stuff after every sweaty time playing) they were sounding dead....and dark and just horrible and I haven't had these strings that long so I honestly thought they died....but then i remembered I didn't clean them off. So I cleaned them and well.......this stuff really does bring strings back from the dead its all alive and punchy again. maybe necromancy did it?
