I have come from Iron Cobras, to Pearl Eliminators.. Both were great. My Pearls ran me 12 months of good use. I wanted to try something new, now that I am in my 40's, do not play as fast as prior years, but wanted the option of speed if called on. So I wanted a blend, smooth, easy... yet weighted and some resistance to give me power in the pocket, and a good feel. I have a Gretsch USA 24" to power, so fancy little small beater fast pedals don't quite do it justice. Took my time this time, tried Speed Cobras, Red line Eliminators, Falcons, and Cobras.. then this 5002 Accelerator pedal. In short, it kinda had everything good about the other pedals- smooth, quiet, adjustable, high quality look and feel.. but one thing I noticed- when it hit the batter head, the sound was louder.. It has great attack with minimal effort, for that big kick sound.. yet I could accelerate with little effort.. The others seemed to excel in one area- they were fast, but too light. They were very smooth, but did not have a good feel.. It is overall a great pedal and the price is good. Got mine for 375 with coupon, which is very competitive for high quality doubles. Has a nice little tool kit, bag, velcro, bass drum hoop protectors.. Oh, yeah another good thing- the contact points are not harmful to your wood hoops! Great pedals.

I purchased this pedal about a year ago. It worked nicely for about 2 or 3 months. Then I began to notice squeaking and extra friction when I played, and one day, while playing for my church, the stock springs just broke. For no reason. I always play with medium force and they just broke. The screws for the connecting tube ALWAYS get loose and fall off, and I'm missing about 3 of them. The beaters are very heavy and do not feel well at all. Adjusting this pedal is awful. It takes so much patience and barely makes a difference. My double bass drumming has gotten slower and slower, most likely from the pedal, because all of my other pedals have worked perfectly. I strongly advise that you go with a different pedal. It may look flashy and awesome, but it's not worth the problems you will have. Go with an Iron Cobra or Eliminators if you're looking for a great set of pedals. Do NOT buy.

Love the adjustments

By Caleb Wilson

See all my reviews

Overall this pedal is incredible. You can loosen it up a bit to get those fast fills or tighten it to get really good attack. Change the distance between the head and the beater if you want. You can adjust footboard angle. You can really make this pedal work for you and that in itself is something worth buying.
The number of adjustments you can make on this pedal is great. It allows you to make this pedal feel how YOU want it to and you just can't beat that.
This thing is built like a tank. I read A LOT of reviews talking about screws loosening and falling out and maybe DW saw that because mine came with Loctite on every screw on the pedal.
The price is incredible for the amount of options and customizations you can make with this pedal.

Magnificent

By SenicleVelocity8Ul

I'm a trap set pro, and have been for years, and the DW 5002AD3 Accelerator Pedal is by far the most magnificent double pedal. It combines a sturdy, smooth feel with intense speed. Definately worth the money. I recomend it to any self respecting drummer with an apt for alacrity in their drumming and an alternative music based sound.

I know why people swear by DW pedals.

By Worship Drummer

from West Virginia

I've owned several double pedals through the years and I'm really happy with the quality of this one. I too have had a little bit of problem with lugs loosening but a little bit of threadlock solves that problem. Over all, I'm really happy I went with DW.

never again

By unnatural drummer

ive had these pedals now for almost 2 years and i will never buy a dw pedal again. for the first year they were ok, the slave side did feel heavy but i got used to it. the lugs will not stay tight no matter what and i ended up loosing half of them along with the memory lock. that i can deal with, thats just part of being in a band that has 2 gigs every weekend. but in the last 2 months one of the chains (thats right the double chains) broke in the middle of a set and now the springs have streached. its not worth all the trouble and aggravation. ive also heard that dw foot boards are notorious for actually breaking in half and i can see where my main pedal looks like its ready to go. after the chain broke i realised how hard it is to actually find the dw replacement parts in Canada where i live. save your money and get a demon drive, i am..

lots of adjustments and super speed

By David Church

I got these to replace my Yamaha (Flying Dragon) pedals, Stright out of the box without having to make any adjustments I could play faster on these with more power than the Yamaha. I am still getting use to them but I am already a better double bass player because of these.
There are almost too many features and adjustments. I don't even want to know what tht 9000's are like.
Heavy Duty, built like a champ.
Price could always be less if you ask me.

    Great Pedal

I just got my DW 5000 used earlier today. It's a great pedal. I was using a pulse double kick pedal and this is such a nice upgrade. I am faster and the big improvement I see is with my control. Overall this is a great pedal and it's quality is fantastic.

    DW5002AD3 OWNS!

I love this pedal! My only problem with the pedal is that the toe stops were all but impossible to install. I completely stripped out the screw head on it. But its an awesome pedal for any double-bass playing in general, except death metal speed-rolling.

I got these pedals in July from my uncle for free because he got the 9000s. Don't get me wrong, I loved the 9000s, but the 5000s personally to me are better. My reasons are that these are very sturdy, fast, and durable. You definatly get your money's worth with these pedals which is very important. Unlike the 9000s that are only good if you have good foot control because they are insanely fast.

    Ask me a question

I bought this pedal and got it in three days. Amazing!!! I was blown away with the hardware and the case. I have played other pedals and this one is the best so far, for the money. The 9000 is a better pedal but really expensive. Price and value you want find a better pedal on the market than the 5000. I love this pedal!

    Decent Pedal

    By Dilbonic

    from East Providence, RI

    See all my reviews

This pedal is a decent pedal. I've owned it for over 2 years and hasnt failed me yet. The only bad experiences ive had with this pedal is that the screws on the connector bar come loose very easily and the screws holding the beaters in place come loose as well. The beaters are heavy which reduces speed. After a while the slave pedal started to lose its sensitivity and it lags. I still havent been able to fix it. If your someone who is new at double bass or currently have a beginner double pedal this is for you, but if you play intense death metal, you may need to do some fine adjustment and replace the beaters. Despite the flaws, I would reccomend it.

This is an amazing piece of equipment, after playing my old double that I bought simply because it was cheap. If you're serious about double bass this is a good adjustment. The accelerator drive takes time to get used to though.

Very Smooth. Good control, my dynamics have improved, able to play fast "soft" beats with either pedal, the drum itself is all you hear!!

    Great, but kind of irritating

    By tastysnacks

    from San Francisco

so much fun to play with. i love them, when they work. i've played two shows since ive had these pedals and each time, screws, usually the ones connecting the rods between the pedals, unscrew completely. and its not possible to tighten them so they dont. they just always always loosen and fall out if you dont stay ontop of them. Besides that, i love them. They feel fluid and quick. Heavy yet flow like water. they are alot of fun. i suggest them, just keep an eye on those bolts.

    By OCDP182-1zDbg

I just recently purchased this pedal after having a Pearl Elimonator Powershifter for about 2 years, and the difference is incredible. This is the best pedal on the market, I even chose this one over it's elder, the 9000. I chose the 5000 because the 9000 was too smooth for my liking. THE ONE PEDAL TO RULE THEM ALL!
