I have four kits and four pedals: one roland v drums set for electronics and remixing with old style single chain 7000 pedal (loose and fast), yamaha hip gig for jazz and small gigs with yamaha 9310 pedal (love the pedal but it take some getting used to), DW collectors kit with 5000 pedal (i do not like the 5000 pedal as much as the others) and now a DW Pacific MX kit (for touring) with the DW 7000PT dual chain pedal. I have to say I am hard pressed to tell the quality or feature difference between the 5000 turbo and the 7000, but in fact, i have more control with the 7000 and like the pedal better. this pedal is rock solid and at this price, come one. Even the 5000 series is not too bad price-wise, but I honestly like the feel of the 7000 better, it is my favorite pedal now out of all four. I would buy the 9000 b/c that thing is killer, but to be honest it is not as straight forward to adjust as the 7000....simple, smooth, quick yet solid and with the new ball bearing I think it is a nicer pedal than good ole 5000.

My first bass drum pedal. I love dw products and hope to get more dw stands when I get the scratch. However, I owned it for 1 1/2 years and broke the hinge that holds the foot pedal to the plate. Went to local music store and they told me that the 7000s are known for wearing down prematurely. They said I could buy the hinge but I'd be replacing it again. Also, the gears are almost flat now and the there is extreme wear on the foot pedal. Ended up getting a 9000, very happy with that so far. If you can muster up the cash, go for the 9000 if not try the 5000. I wish someone told me that before I bought it.

Best Pedal I've ever used

By Anonymous

I got this pedal about six months ago and use it in the studio and play gigs with it almost weekly. It's stood up great and I've never had a problem with it. It's a lot easier to set up and than my other pearl pedals and my old premier pedal that I have. As far as features go I can't think of anything more to ask from a pedal. It comes with the tension screw on the side which is the best in my opinion. It comes with a drum key and a mount on it right on the base of the pedal(see pics). It comes with everything you need to personalize it and adjust it. It also looks awesome. One thing that I was concerned with when I got it was if it would fit in my hardware bag. Sure ebnough if you just take off the beater and put it in a side pocket it will easily fit in the end perfectly. It's great for bonham bass tripelets. All around Great pedal and I would go with this instead of the 4000. And the 9000 is close to overkill and too expensive and not worth it for the most part.

Fast, Responsive Pedal

By john-o-HtMuD

from Denton, Tx

I upgraded to this pedal from my Iron Cobra (which I really like, and still own), and I must say it does top it. This pedal pretty much does whatever my foot does. It seems to make it easier to do accents and dynamics, and it makes it much easier to do those Bonham-esque triplets and duples. My one and only complaint is that about two months after I bought it, the bolt that holds the chain to the foot plate snapped in half, while I was playing a show nonetheless! Kinda peeved me, but a trip to the hardware store fixed that and haven't had a problem since. I am upgrading to the 9000 once I save the bread cause it certainly is faster, but until then this pedal is my baby. I recommend it for beginners and pros alike.

They break too easy

By Kiddoton

I've had two of these pedals for about 6 months, I liked the way they played. They had to many issues though. The screw that attaches the chain to the foot board broke on both pedals more than once. The hinge from the foot board to the hell platform came loose multiple times on both pedals and allowed the chain to grind away the teeth on the chain mount. Finally at practice last night, the metal broke where the hinge meets the heel board on one of the pedals. I have had a crappy PDP double pedal for 3 years and it holds up better than the DW 7000's.

DW makes good Pedals

Believe the HYPE! Haven't played the 7000 series, but it's as close to the original 5000 with the single chain which I still play to this day. I picked up a Single 5000 series pedal in 1997, single chain...And it has held up thru numerous tours, recording and anything else I?ve thrown at it. I've really stomped on it too. My DW single pedal has held up never had ANY problems. DW all the way!

Best Ever!!

This is the second DW pedal I have purchased. It is the most excellent one I have owned/tried. I am a very happy owner. The pedal moves so smoothly and silently. It's truly the best bang for the buck also. If you have the money, go for the 9000 series, but if you are low budget like me, this is the pedal for you!

Beyond awesome!

By Anonymous

I hav e2 of these, one for each bass drum. I must say that value not withstanding, (they are OBVIOUSLY affordable) they are pound for pound the best pedals I have ever used. I have played the 5000's and I must say I think these are faster. There are preferential adjustments that are obviously known to the experienced players, but these pedals are good for ANY playing level. They are sturdy and dependable. My only problem has been breaking through the screw that joins the pedal to the chain, but that is owing to individual playing style and is NOT a reflection of hardware as the pedal is still functional. I just replaced the screws. The adjustments can be a bit tiresome if you are unfamiliar with them, but its easy to figure it out, trust me.

Best Ever

By sfortune

I use these with my drum teacher. When I started double bass, I noticed how much better I was when I played with these. I have tested many others and I like these the best. These are buttery smooth and feel wonderful. With these my legs still have energy after playing a song with lots of bass in it. I highly reccomend these.

DW is the best

I bought this pedal maybe four or five monthes ago and I havent had a problem since. I hit very hard and the beater hasnt come off or anything (unlike my old Pulse double pedal) This is a reliable quick pedal, that is remotly easy to put together. if you have a small sense of mechnics it'll be pretty easy. you'll get a nice and loud bass drum, plus a tuning key.
