These are a lot like Iron Cobras except I think the DW does not have the premium features and construction of the Iron Cobra. One example of this is that one of my springs broke within at most 2 hours of gentle, at-home play time. Had to get generic Gibraltar springs and replace both since no one seems to sell the DW regular tension springs. The beaters are v-e-r-y heavy compared to the Tamas. Takes some getting used to but gives a great big, deep sound though. Not nearly worth the price in my opinion. I think the inexpensive PDP 400 series I have also had is nearly as good and adequate for most proficient players who are interested in function, savings and impressing people with their playing vs. brand recognition and impressing people by having expensive gear. I suggest saving money, keeping name recognition and owning a superior product with Iron Cobras.

I just got the longboard version of this pedal 8002B. I find the pedal action to be heavy. Others here are saying its the beaters causing this. I haven't tried yet to replace them yet. To me the secondary pedal is slower, heavier and less responsive than the primary pedal. Also, I am having an issue with the chain on the secondary pedal floating on top of the cam, especially when my foot levitates off the pedal a little (I can actually see the chain bouncing above the felt guide on the cam). When this happens the chain becomes noisy. I tried adjusting the spring but it didn't help. I would like to convert the pedal to a nylon strap, but contrary to what the DW sites says, the store I bought this from says it only comes with the chain.

Comments about DW 8002 Double Pedal:

I've played a lot of pedals in 43 years of playing. I sold my Iron Cobras since they were a couple of years old, I didn't have Tama drums anymore and I was just kinda bored with looking at them. I changed-out all my Tama hardware for DW. My opinion is that these were created to fit a market niche to directly compete with the ICs for the sake of DW-brand fans (and therefore revenue$). Extremely similar in features except the way the heel-to-board transition is made makes the DW feel shorter to me even though it's not. In my opinion, both are really great pedals and it's just a matter of brand appeal.

Comments about DW 8002 Double Pedal:

I bought these before anyone on the east coast had them. I purchased them on line and waited 4 months because they were back ordered. I loved them at first. They started to feel unbalanced. Then I noticed the bearings on the slave spring were bind-ed. Dw replaced them free. Impressed... Well, I never could get a matched feel. I actually liked the 5002s better. More comfortable. Since then I have purchased the double Demon Drive by Pearl. The best pedal out there in my opinion. Sorry DW. I've played them all. The Demons are on fire. $$$ though.

Comments about DW 8002 Double Pedal:

The best pedals, I've ever used. They are the easiest adjustable pedals on the market. The only negative which is not that bad is the velcro on the main pedal. If you are on carpet, it can be a little hard to a just your bass drum to it. I can live with that though. DW IS THE BEST

Comments about DW 8002 Double Pedal:

I bought this pedal almost a week ago. I wasn't completely satisfied with it at first. This was because the beaters seemed to be too heavy. They would bounce back, and they seemed a little delayed. I decided to get new beaters (Tama CB90s) and they are perfect for it. I also bought a double kick drum pad (Aquarian DKP2). Now the pedal is exactly what I wanted. It has a smooth feel and it gives a solid strike. I love it! Give it a test run, I recommend buying it!

Comments about DW 8002 Double Pedal:

Lets just get right to the point. This pedal is INSANE. Rock solid, sturdy, fast, powerful. The adjustible cam on here is awesome and the pedals are really fluid and smooth. The best part about this, is that it feels rock solid. sturdy. and heavy. These DW's give your feet so much power, and it isnt sketchy. A lot more people need to get these, because they have the speed and smoothness of a 9000 and the power and stability of the 5000. Every penny you spend is more than worth it.

Comments about DW 8002 Double Pedal:

This pedal is in a world all its own. This has so many of the same features as the 9000 series and with a nicer price tag. The best things I notice are its rock solid stability, noiseless operation, and cam symmetry adjustment. You can adjust the cam shape to be totally round like a cobra rolling glide, or a-symmetrical like the power glide, sweet feature! I compared this side by side with an Iron Cobra and this thing is much more solid, it's a tank and the cobra felt flimsy compared to it. I actually got the new 8002B longboard version and it feels awesome! Get one of these, it's the best investment you can make.

AWSOME

Comments about DW 8002 Double Pedal:

This pedal is incredible its very smooth, responsive, and quick. I tryed out the 9000 and i personally like the 8000 better, its smoother. The only thing i suggest is to get new beaters for it the ones it comes with are a little heavy and don't move as fast then if you have some like the Tama CB90. Those make the pedal fast and you feet fast, quicker. Overall a sick nasty pedal.

Comments about DW 8002 Double Pedal:

I bought this last weekend due to my 7000 series breaking. It is a very sweet pedal nice and smooth right up there with the 9000 but a little cheaper, all in all it was a good decision. I love DW.
