Comments about DWCP9701 Low Ride Cymbal Boom Stand:

Exactly what I was looking for in a ride cymbal stand. My other DW stands couldn't get my ride low enough, so I gave this very expensive option a try. Very happy with this heavy duty product.

Comments about DWCP9701 Low Ride Cymbal Boom Stand:

I just outfitted my entire kit with DW 9000 hardware. Stands, Pedals, etc.

It cost almost as much as my base shell pack (used 1980s Yamaha Recording Custom) and more than my cymbals (Zildjian Ks).

This hardware is expensive. The upgrade did improve the sound and playability. It's nice that I can mount heavy, oversized snares and they don't move (much).

The 9000s are very flexible. I'm not convinced many options produce the best design/sound/durability, but they are there for the people that like lots of customization.

Guys that are their own roadies might want lighter kit when gigging. Look to a different line (eg 5000, 6000).

I was surprised at how much the sound of my kit improved. I expected some improvement, but not this much. Seriously, don't "upgrade" your cymbals until after you have heard them on high quality hardware.

At this price, I'd give it the fifth star if nothing major fails over, say, the next 20+ years (I'm not using it for gigging). Based on reviews and others' experience, it looks like most - not all - of these will hold up that long.

Note: you can use this stand instead of the regular boom in a lot of places. Consider it.

Comments about DWCP9701 Low Ride Cymbal Boom Stand:

I replaced all my stands with the exception of my straight ride stand because DW didn't offer a lower profile stand last year. I am pleased to say that the wait was worth it. I actually have more flexibility with the new stand. I love the leg stop incorporated onto the stand. I have a large kit, so I am always getting help from my fellow musicians setting up my kit. The stop allows the perfect leg stance every time its set up.
I am going to inquire about retro fitting all my DW stands with this stop.
