OVERVIEW

A magnet-based throw off and an adjustable butt plate for tone changes on the fly.

This MAG Throw Off has a purposefully simple design. It is a workhorse drop throw-off, with horizontal tension adjustment and smooth, easy-to-adjust action. It gets its name from a clever magnet that's integrated into the body of the throw off. When the handle is in the up position, it won't release without a slight tug.

The 3P 3-position butt plate allows you to choose between 3 different snare tensions, for a total of 4 immediately available snare tones. This just might be the most reliable and adjustable strainer system DW has ever built.

Note that DW products are not available for further discounting online. For additional information, please call 866-226-2918.

Changes The Dynamic Of The Game

Comments about DW MAG Throw Off with 3-Position Butt Plate:

This DW product has totally opened up new possibilities for the way I play. I have 4 easily accessible tones at my fingertips. I can loosen up the snare without worrying about it turning off on me and with a simple flick of the switch, it's tightened up again. What I love is not having to worry about the time it takes adjusting the tension of my snare in the middle or in between songs anymore. I have my presets ready to go. It's already revolutionizing how I play. Once you get your hands on it, you'll know what I'm talkin' about.

Comments about DW MAG Throw Off with 3-Position Butt Plate:

I used the DW Mag Throwoff and 3 Position Butt Plate to replace the throwoff system on a PDP 805 Series 10x6 Popcorn Snare and I have to say that the end result more than met my expectations! I am going to replace all throwoffs on all of my snares with this system! Highly recommended!

Comments about DW MAG Throw Off with 3-Position Butt Plate:

I've had them all (really) in 50+ years of drumming and this throw is my favorite of all time. The 3-position end butt works great and is a great idea for someone who can really use it. Looks cool but I don't need it or use it. Both stick out quite a bit from the shell. With both installed, the drum can be a really tight fit in some bags. So I use an Enduro hard case for a 15" diameter snare for one and a square Enduro for my second. I added a photo of my 2010 DW Performance snare that I "Collectorized" with all Collectors Series hardware (the lugs are an exact fit btw).

Comments about DW MAG Throw Off with 3-Position Butt Plate:

This is a top dog piece of metal heft! I wanted to replace a Yamaha (Ludwig P-85 knock-off) that kept jamming (booooo)and had no idea the mag would work so well and actually improve the sound.
I love the forethought of adding a drum key nub to the otherwise knurled-only tension adjustment. This thing is smooth as butter and flips in and off in an instant. Installation was pretty easy (lots of nuts and bolts just in case) as I had to modify, but the payback is worth it! I was flipping the snares back to the on with my knee (ha-ha). Get the one with the 3 position back plate. I intend to install it on all of my Yamahas, but not my Ludwig Millennium. Oh! Black chrome looks awesome if you can get it.

Comments about DW MAG Throw Off with 3-Position Butt Plate:

The new throwoff sticks out so far that the drum noTlonger fits inside most standard cases (SKB, H+B). I can get it into either case but it resses hard against the side/corner and now I'm afriad that I will dimple my drum moving it around in the case. Haven;t tried a gig bag yet but I don't use gig bags on this drum (DW Collectors copper shell). An enormous and unforgivable oversight.

Other than the Trick strainer which costs thirty more this is the best bet to upgrade your throw off strainer. Smooth operation, and positive engagement when activated. You'll be glad to own the DW Mag throw off.

Well designed and thought out. It will force you to use a larger snare case, however. Because of the increase in the size of the three way butt plate, the snare drum I installed this system on no longer fits in a standard 14" case. A small concession for the increased functionality the drum now ha.s. Fit and finish are superb and the mag throw off is a delight!
