OVERVIEW

Reusable hearing protection with EPA overall rating of 5dB.

Whether you are a musician, attend concerts or are regularly exposed to music played at high levels, Earasers don't plug up your ears and muffle sound like more conventional earplugs. Manufactured by a 45+ year hearing aid company, and developed by their lead engineer - a musician for over 20 years - Earasers filter out loud noise while still allowing you to hear at a safe, comfortable level.

Musicians have to be able to focus on the different layers of instrumentation. Earasers utilize a unique attenuation "V filter" to provide an overall 5dB EPA rating of protection. The result is the world's first flat frequency response earplugs.

Most comfortable with improved sound.
The Earasers soft silicone design is based on one of the most widely used hearing aid tips in the market. There is no need for expensive trips to a specialist to get custom ear molds. The Smart Seal technology conforms to the shape of your ear canal for a more comfortable fit that you can wear all day.

I am a drummer in a metal band and hate foam ear plugs...to the point that I stopped using them because they "plug" the sound so badly and are uncomfortable. Instead of throwing absorbant amounts of money at custom molded plugs I did a lot of research online that brought me to this pair of Earasers.

Firstly, I should say that Musician's Friend shipped them out ridiculously fast. I'm a big guy, 6' 1", and I bought the mediums and they fit perfectly. They're not loose and they're not putting unnecessary pressure on my ears; nice comfortable fit for hours. The sound quality is amazing with these. My best way of describing is if you're at a concert the sound level is at a 10, these ear plugs turn it down to a 7. It's still loud, but not damaging loud, which is exactly what I was looking for. I have since turned the other guys on in my band to these and will recommend them to anyone that wants to save their ears and the quality of the music they're listening to.

The best thing about these ear plugs is that are very comfortable. There's a slight learning curve when it comes to putting them in. The bad part about these earplugs is that the labeling is misleading. While it does say "up to 19db of protection in the frequencies you need it most", it's not clear that the overall noise reduction is not 19db. If you dig on the Earasers web site you can find the overall 5db EPA rating. That rating isn't on the Musician's Friend overview. In my opinion, the overall noise reduction rating should be clearly stated. People might be doing damage to their hearing because they think they are getting 19db of protection when they're actually only getting 5. These ear plugs might work well for quieter situations but if you're a drummer or playing loud music, actually protect your hearing and get something else.

Comments about Earasers Musicians Plugs:

My bass player bought these at a music convention and told me about them since he was so happy. Get these...you won't believe your ears. not itchy, no pressure inside or and they don't sweat either. music seems way too clear to believe, but then take them out and WOW! Without them I was getting ringing every practice...now nothing. Just do it -you will tell your friends and every one you know that plays or goes to loud venues.

    Comments about Earasers Musicians Plugs:

These are, by far, the best ear protection I have ever used before. Notice that I used the word "protection" since all other ear plugs just "plug" the sound. These feel comfortable while playing and don't slip or pop out while moving around the drum kit. Also, I like that they are clear so you can conseal them and they don't stick out of your ears like other brands. I can now hear all sound levels perfectly during practicing or live performances. Great product!

      Comments about Earasers Musicians Plugs:

I just got these a few days ago, and they've been great so far. Much more comfortable than foam ear plugs, and most people won't even be able to tell that you're wearing them. They don't reduce the volume as much as foam, but enough that it's not damaging or uncomfortable to listen to. As well as that, you don't get the pressure in your ear canals that foam plugs can cause. I play drums in a Ska band, so my snare is very loud and high pitched. It sounds quite piercing from the throne. With ear muffs or foam plugs, it reduces the sound, but loses high end clarity. With this, it reduces the sound just enough that it's comfortable to hear, and retains all clarity. I play in two bands and work full time at a loud factory, so my ears take a lot of abuse. These are great for both uses, and I feel much better about the loud noises that constantly surround me.

      Comments about Earasers Musicians Plugs:

I first tried the High fidelity plugs and liked the improvement that they are from foam ear plugs. However, they still had undesirable effects on the sound quality. These ear plugs were a huge improvement. The problem, however, is with the quality of the materials. As per the manufacturer's recommendations, I cleaned the ear plugs after each use. In order for water to not get trapped and to get all the hidden wax out from inside, you have to take out the inner piece (which it's designed to do). But with constantly taking that in and out, coupled with the in and out of the ear, the silicon on the inside ripped deeming the left ear plug unusable. I'm going to try sending it back because the product only underwent normal use. For this price, I would hope the material would be better. Fantastic sound quality. You can only hope for so much at this price point.

      Comments about Earasers Musicians Plugs:

Being able to hear all your guitar parts through an unmuffled mix and be able to talk without the sound being muffled or hard to hear is exactly what I needed! These really do work better than any of the foam type plugs. The high and low frequencies are both clear! Beware: they're only rated for a reduction of 5 db (up to 19 db) so they may not be enough for extreme concert volume levels (they are probably enough for the average gigging band). They're confortable too! I also like how they're hidden inside the ear but easy to remove- great design! The mediums fit about the same as my medium ear buds.

          Comments about Earasers Musicians Plugs:

Singer in a band for 36 years and still gigging in bars, concerts and events. Had some hearing loss in my left ear and noticed I was sometimes a little flat or sharp when live recordings were played back. This is also because sometimes stage monitors do not amplify the vocals well enough when mixed with louder instruments. Have tried so many earplugs, and so far earasers are the best for me. I can hear myself better, and can feel the emotion in my voice giving me freedom to play with notes without having to go flat or sharp.

            Comments about Earasers Musicians Plugs:

I bought these after looking at them for awhile. I play every weekend and sometimes during the week with either my rock band or my country rock band. I used Earasers for 3 gigs before reviewing them. They do fit well and are comfortable. What they don't do is block enough sound level dB to protect my ears. I already have the dreaded the tinnitus ringing, so I'm pretty picky about my ear plugs. These say right on the box that they only provide 5 dB of overall noise reduction. That might be enough for a pan flute concert, but for me playing rock and roll it's just not enough. Since it is a non-returnable item I decided that I either need to toss them in the trash or try modifying them. I filled the back side of them with some flexible silicone adhesive from the big-box hardware retailer, which provides much more sound dampening. I know that modifying them voids the warranty, but at least they actually block sound now and protect my ears.
If you are playing with an acoustic group without amplification these will work fine just like they are. If you are playing with amplified music and especially anything with slamming drums you are probably going to need something with more sound reduction dB level of protection. Just my opinion.

                Comments about Earasers Musicians Plugs:

I'm not a musician, but a dancer and am regularly at events where the music is at 89 decibels and can have issues with quality since the recordings are older. I started shopping for earplugs that would not muffle the sound (foam plugs are so irritating! especially when you want to hear what you're listening to).

Got a set of these and they are comfortable and do a good job...up to a point. They just don't cut enough decibels once over 85-86. My hearing is not damaged to begin with and I want to keep it that way, but unfortunately, these aren't the answer for intact or extra sensitive ears.

I'll use them at happily at lower volumes and look for something else to handle higher levels. The Fender Touring Earplugs do cut enough decibels and maintain nice sound quality, but they are too big for my ears and are uncomfortable (I'm a woman).

Would recommend to others based on the conditions they are in and sensitivity of their hearing.
