EBow

Reverse delay and violin bow-like effects in the palm of your hand.

Use the EBow Plus rather than your pick, and create awesome synth effects. A small electrical charge sets up an energy field, vibrating the string giving you limitless sustain until you pull it away. The tiny, 9V-battery-powered PlusEbow replaces your pick, letting you mimic strings and synths and create outlandish sounds beyond any instrument.

The Plus EBow lets you play as fast as your left hand can scurry through a lick. Fade a string in from a motionless state for a reverse-tape effect. Run the EBow across the strings for gorgeous arpeggios. Add distortion for a screaming guitar sound. Playing the PlusEBow directly over the pickup will increase your volume and give you the crisp sound of super hot pickups. Moving away from the pickup gives you the mellow sound of a hollowbody electric. The sounds you discover by experimenting with the EBow will amaze you. And like the best tools of the trade, the EBow will sound different for each musician.

EBows have been used on countless records by some of the biggest names in music. Isn't it time you put it to work in your act?

You've heard it on countless recordings and live performances, now add it to your arsenal! Order now.

Patience will payoff

Features:

Very cool.

Creative and alternative sounds and effects. Normal and feedback modes add to the versatility.

Quality:

The overall feel of the eBow is good but the plastic casing makes the durability a bit questionable. I would fear to drop it. I only use it for studio recording work, but someone who gigs alot with it might have to consider being extra careful.

Value:

I personally feel that it is a bit expensive for what it is and what it does. Taking the time to learn how to use it, master the technique, and incorporate it into your guitar style can make it worth-while, but for some people, using it might be more of an occasional novelty than a major part of your sound.

Overall:

It does take quite a bit of time, effort, and practice to develope a technique that will give nice results, but it can be well worth it. The eBow can make the guitar sound amazing and add unique options to your sound.

I highly recommend watching and studying all of the videos, manuals, and additional materials you can find on using the eBow.

After owning my Ebow for nearly a year now, I can honestly say it's one of the coolest effects I own. I don't know of any other effect that can bring these kinds of sounds out of a guitar or bass, the Ebow allows cello-like and feedback-like sounds, but with their own uniqueness. I do not feel that this is a toy, but rather a useful and diverse new way to look at the neck.

The only real downside, in my opinion, would have to be the durability of the unit. It feels constructed of cheap plastic, and it seems like dropping it from standing height onto a hard floor might cause your Ebow to meet it's doom.

Aside from durability, I highly recommend this product, as it opens up many doors and allows the guitar to be played in an entirely different manner.

**For those of you with a broken ebow, go to their website and fill out a report in the "comments" section. I got mine 8 years ago and they're fixing it for free. Awesome customer service, and very fast response time. Now for the review. Those of you saying this is a toy are using it wrong. Always, ALWAYS use delay with your EBow. Otherwise, it just cuts out and lacks body. Such a powerful effect for leads and and unique effects when used in the right context. There are so many awesome things you can do with the EBow; emulating a cello has become one of my favorites, and I love using it with my loop station to create pads by recording and overdubbing multiple notes in different octaves. As for the price, I got mine back when they were only $60, new but I think it's still a great deal at $99. I use mainly boutique pedals, ranging from $150 to $400, so $99 for a great effect is a small price to pay in my opinion. Unlike other effects, the EBow hasn't been ripped off and copied by other names like BOSS and Digitech. Thank God for that! The housing is cheaper plastic and I cracked mine, but even when it cracked it didn't stop working for a long time. I simply super-glued it and presto! Just take care of it; I didn't. Excellent effect for the money. I've used one for 8 years and it will always be a part of my rig. I highly recommend it.

Fun but overpriced and flimsy

Mine lasted a little over a year then quit for no apparent reason.  Unfortunately, they're not repairable, since it's all plastic welded.   There is no customer support  I could find, after an exhaustive internet search. It was fun while it lasted but I will not replace it.  If they're going to charge that much for it (probably cost $2 to manufacture!) they should have customer support!
