OVERVIEW

Clear, bright tone and easy playing with enough tension to get the most out of your flattop.

Jam on and on (and on) with the same premium acoustic guitar strings that experienced players worldwide trust to keep their incredible tone longer than any other string available. Unlike other string brands, Elixir Strings coats the whole string. This protects not only the outer string surface but also the gaps between the windings where common tone-deadening gunk typically builds up in other brands’ coated and uncoated guitar strings. Anti-Rust Plating on plain steel strings ensures longer tone life for the entire set.

Who wouldn’t love more quality playing time between the hassle and cost of string changes?

Crafted to last, these acoustic strings constructed with 80/20 (80% copper, 20% zinc) bronze wrap wire boast a warm, robust tone that sounds "played-in" right out of the pack while still retaining a remarkably clear mid-range presence. The POLYWEB Coating brings a soft, slick, and fast feel to the playing experience.

For a more traditionally textured, “uncoated” feel, try Elixir's ultra-thin NANOWEB Coating. The 80/20 Bronze Acoustic Guitar Strings with NANOWEB Coating, for example, might be a good fit, especially if you’re also looking for a crisper, brighter, and more vibrant tone. For strings that strike a dynamic balance between full-bodied tone and sparkling high-end clarity, our Phosphor Bronze Acoustic Guitar Strings deliver exactly that alongside our NANOWEB Coating’s more traditional feel.

I use to break the G string like everyone else but recently I bought a CA model GX and not only did I not break any strings, I played 8 three hour gigs, inside and outside in Louisiana (and I play pretty hard)and didn't even have to tune it! It's the most amazing combination of guitar and strings I've ever seen! The tone lasts longer than any other coated string on the planet!

I would not buy this particular version of Elixir 80/20 Bronze Acoustic Guitar Strings with POLYWEB Coating, Light (.012-.053) for my Guild F47rc with D-tar again. They were far to dark and Bass like for me to enjoy. The (E,A and D) strings tend to be jangly and buzzed against the lower 7 frets. I will try other versions of Elixir guitar strings as soon as I can figure out which version would be good for a Solid wood guitar with rosewood back and sides and an Adirondack (Red) spruce top and a Rainsong WS1000n2. both 25 1/2" scale lengths. Neither Rainsong or Guild USA had any valuable Information to share except to say they use other Brands of Guitar String Manufactures.
In support of Elixir for feel, Elixir 80/20 Bronze Acoustic Guitar Strings with POLYWEB feel Great under your fingers and some will like this sound, of that I am sure. Also I checked the weight of this Light (.012-.053) set and found them to compare in overall tension to 11's or (.011-.047) of other brands

BREAKING

By Sweet_Mama

from Baton Rouge, LA

Comments about Elixir 80/20 Bronze Acoustic Guitar Strings with POLYWEB Coating, Light (.012-.053):

I'm a working singer/guitarist playing 3-5 nights a week since the early 90's. I have been a Elixir player since they first came on the market. And, I too "HAD" a G string breakage problem. But, I LOVED the sound, feel and longevity of ELIXIR strings so I stuck with them! My original solution was to order extra G strings to replace the inevitable broken G's I KNEW I would have. Well, I did that for YEARS. One day, while changing a G string during a gig, a friend of mine, suggested I try a HEAVIER PICK to stop the breakage. I thought that was the CRAZIEST THING I'd ever heard...but I tried it...I mean what did I have to lose. Originally I used .50mm Clayton Acetal picks, so I moved up to .63mm and to my amazement, I stopped breaking G strings...for a while. So I went up to a .73mm pick and NOW I don't have to order the extra G's, and I RARELY break G's. Now, when I break a string, it's because it's TIME to CHANGE my ALL of my strings.ELIXIR POLYWEB LIGHT STRINGS ARE THE ONLY STRINGS I PLAY ON MY 150-225 GIGS A YEAR! THEY ARE ON ALL OF MY ACOUSTICS...all 12 of them!

Comments about Elixir 80/20 Bronze Acoustic Guitar Strings with POLYWEB Coating, Light (.012-.053):

I like most guitar players have tried various string sets on that quest to find that perfect acoustic tone. I have tried D'Addarios phosphor bronze, and bronze, Dean Markley Bronze, Dean Markley blue steels, DR Rares, D'Addario EXP Phosphor bronze...you get the idea. I've always been a phosphor bronze fan, and a Daddario lights man When I tried Elixir Polyweb lights my freshman year of Hi-school I could'nt believe the smoothness of the polywebs. Especially when we had to do fingerpicking in guitar class. My picking hand came off the strings smoothly. I admit I was skeptical at first but they've grown on me. I've been using them full time for about a year. Whenever I pick up a friends guitar at school with different strings on it than Elixir the first thing I notice is that the strings are rusty, hard on my hands, they feel like sandpaper and are muddy and sound out of control Elixirs have a controlled, cleaned up sound (good for you studio heads out there) After trying Elixers I just can't go back to plain old string that squeak, feel like sandpaper and are too loud, not that elixirs are quiet, it's just that other strings make a racket (no tone die too quickly). Elixir Plolyweb lights have really maximized the enjoyment and overall experience of playing the guitar for me, they have made playing the guitar more exiting than ever. I love em. They feel great they don't hurt your fingers. They don't squeak when you play they look cool they're kinda white. and they sound awesome, there are so many amazing colors, musical textures and dynamics you can get out of these strings all you have to do is tell them what to do. I use Clayton Ancetal 63's on them that makes a big difference Dunlop Tortex 60's also get the job done and bring a really definitive sound out of the guitar. They sound so rich and he he they make my fingers happy! They have made my Fender Grand concert a more accessable guitar than ever before. I can do all the wacky stuff I do with alot more freedom and the coating does improve playability. The bass notes are clearer and deeper than with D'Addarios especially with open F# abd G# cords just plain chords. Every other string I've tried just sounds so shallow in the aspect of lows, these don't but the highs and lows arn't over bearing either And the treble strings are perfectly balanced You get just the right amount of everything, volume tone, highs lows etc. D'Addarios are too trebly and not bassy enough they sound like toys. These are the new standard! I would reccomend for everyone out there washing your hands before you play and wiping them down with a clean cloth after will do the job. dont't put fast fret on them or any other cleaner, it'll ruin the coating and the tone.

Overall these strings sound and feel great, and last forever. I have to admit they are pricey but they're def worth it!
These came with Taylor 314 I got recently, and let me tell you, I had no idea how quality strings can change and enhance your sound and style of playing. Been playing and ordering them ever since. Thanks Elixir and Taylor!
Play pretty much everyday and these easily last a month for active musicians. And the anti-rust feature is absolutely true, these guys dont rust!

Comments about Polyweb Acoustic Light Strings:

I've been playing professionally for over 50 years and have used many brands of acoustic and electric strings. Elixir strings have bright, even tone across the range of highs and lows and keep that tone over many hours of playing. After years of using Elixir Polyweb strings I'm still amazed at how long they last, retain tone and stay in tune.

Comments about Elixir 80/20 Bronze Acoustic Guitar Strings with POLYWEB Coating, Light (.012-.053):

I have been playing guitar long enough now (6 years playing pretty much every day) that I am able to recognize the differences in sound among various strings. I use the Elixirs on my Taylor 614 CE, which has a solid maple body. It can be a very bright guitar. I find the coating takes just enough high end off the sound when the strings are first installed to make for a pleasing, and not overly bright sound.

I have tried uncoated strings and they are WAY too bright when first installed, unpleasantly so. Then, there is only a very short period of time where they sound good before they become dull. The Elixirs sound good right away and they sound good probably 4-5 times longer (this is not scientific, just an informed opinion) than any uncoated strings.

I have tried at least a half a dozen or more types/brands of strings on this guitar and keep coming back to the Elixirs. To be fair, I do find other brands more appropriate for other guitars I have, so it is important to try out the different options. Interestingly, I have found that the strings that the guitar manufacturers choose for their various products are often the strings I keep coming back to after trying out other brands/types. The 614CE comes with Elixirs and I intend to continue to use Elixirs for the foreseeable future. I'm a fan.

Comments about Elixir 80/20 Bronze Acoustic Guitar Strings with POLYWEB Coating, Light (.012-.053):

These strings are extremely durable and sound amazing. I've been playing guitar for 15+ years and using Elixir for probably the last 6 or 7 and I don't use anything else anymore. The nanowebs have a much brighter tone but don't get as deep or rich of tones as the polywebs on my Taylor W14. Every type of guitar out there sounds a little different with different types of strings though so I recommend experimenting with different types and gauges until you find the best for your guitar and personal preferences. These are the longest lasting strings I've ever used and to those who say they break to easily: you may want to reconsider the way you string your guitar and how much/how little extra slack you leave at the ends of your strings before clipping them

Comments about Elixir 80/20 Bronze Acoustic Guitar Strings with POLYWEB Coating, Light (.012-.053):

I've bought only two pairs of these strings. The first pair lasted at least 3-4 months, then the B and high E string started to tarnish, just like every other brand of strings I have bought. But the wound strings have been great. Fabulous tone, I play for an audience every week, and never had a problem with these strings. Have had several pairs of Dean Markley Strings, and all of them have broke during a performance. These haven't, yet. Would recommend them to anyone, although the price is a little steep.

I tried Elixer Nanowebs on my electric guitar. They were so easy on my fingers that I thought I would try them on my acoustic guitar. I went with the Polywebs as I read they are supposed to have a more natural tone than the Nanos. They have a nice rich warm tone that I like. They are also very easy on my fingers for finger picking.

I have been using Elixir strings on all my guitars for several years. They are the only strings I care to use on both my electric and acoustic guitars and Mandolin. They provide exceptionally long life and playability, along with a crisp clean tone.

I bought a new Martin GPCPA1 Plus and loved the sound when I bought it. For the first time in years I wanted to try strings other than Elixir. I bought at least twenty sets of other brands. Before I could buy any more I ran out and had two sets of old Elixir's left. I put them on and strummed my guitar. Immediately I remembered why I have been a faithful Elixir user for the last twenty years. My hunt for the best sounding strings is over.
