OVERVIEW

Combat finger grunge!

Gauges: 12-16-24*w*-32-42-52.

Nanoweb coating permits electric guitar strings with the feel, bright tone, and punch of traditional strings. Elixirs are the first major innovation in guitar strings in over forty years, and they deliver what they promise: great tone and long life no matter what you put them on or how often you play.

Elixir Plated Plain Steel Strings are covered with an ultra-thin, space-age polymer tube that contacts the string on the tops of the windings only. This leaves the all-important winding-to-winding-to-core space free from the fear of the enemies of tone!

In addition to an ultra-thin grunge-resistant tubular coating on the wound strings, Nanowebs now have a revolutionary Anti-Rust plating on the plain strings to extend their life too.

Most players report that Elixir Strings keep sounding great 3 to five times longer than ordinary strings.

These are the perfect strings for baritone guitars with a 28-5/8" scale length. I know they aren't sold as baritone strings but think about it, a normal scale length 7 string 25-1/2" scale length is really no good for the low B. I own two baritones and two 7 strings. With another popular brand of strings you have a choice of 9-54 or 10-59 for 7 string. The 9-54 is floppy and the 10-59 is better but the tension of the strings are disproportionate. The high E is tight with a 10 which doesn't bother me but the low B is still a little floppy plus the thicker string adds string noise because of the thick winding. I thought a 52 must be perfect for a baritone since the longer scale length adds tension and a light 7 string pack has a 54 for the low B. I was right! These are perfect not only because the low B is a 52 but because 4 of the strings are wound like a normal pack of baritone strings. I HIGHLY recommend these strings for a 28-5/8" scale length guitar tuned in B standard. The strings have an almost magic quality under the pick, I have more control than any of my 6 string guitars tuned in E with 8's, 9's, 10's or 11's. I also have the action extremely low with no buzzing any where at all, lower than my 6 strings! Both my baritones are touch sensitive and really play better than any thing you could imagine. I'm so blown away I had to write this review so more people will buy these strings for baritone guitars. I'm sure this isn't a very popular gauge and would really hope elixir would never discontinue these strings. Besides them playing like absolute butter the tone is beyond perfect. I don't buy these for the coating but I guess it's a plus, they sure keep the same tone forever.

These are excellent strings, and taking the coating into consideration I had hoped for longer wear. Wrong... Lasted about the same length of play as a set of Ernie Ball Hybrids. Plus, you could actually see where the coating had rubbed off from picking, making them sort of dull and lifeless. Good strings, don't get me wrong... but not worth the price tag. I'm sticking with my Ernie Balls.

Comments about Elixir Electric Guitar Strings with NANOWEB Coating, Heavy (.012-.052):

I've been playing a Strat since the 1970s. When I first put these strings on I was not happy. They were too bright. They made my Strat sound like a guitar with EMGs. No tone. The next day I tuned down a semi-tone and OMG! My Strat has never sounded more like JIMI & SRV. I've tried tuning down with lots of other strings but they all sounded dull and played floppy. Not these! They have a fantastic full tone...it's awesome!

I've restrung virtually all my guitars with Elixers of varying sorts. They're all good. I like the tone; they improve playability. All good things to say about these strings.

I started using Elixer strings over 6 years ago and have never used anything else since. I was using Martin but they wouldn't last long and didn't have the tone I wanted. I was amazed at the bright clear sound I get with Elixer strings and how long they last. The coating cuts down on finger noise on the strings and makes it smoother to play. T

Comments about Elixir Electric Guitar Strings with NANOWEB Coating, Heavy (.012-.052):

I love Elixir. The only guitar I don't use them for is my 8-string and that's just because I can't. Yes, they's a bit more expensive, but they last forever. 6 months or so and no loss of quality, it's amazing. I will beat the hell out of them too. I was a little worried about using them on a tremolo with a few of the reviews I'd read, but I've got them on a wilkinson, a wonderbar and a kahler. No issues at all. I generally have the G-string raising 1.5 steps with my trems. I recently stepped up to the heavy strings, and it's like getting bigger is better. Elixir + Dimarzio= a wonderland for guitarists. ;-)

Elixir has never failed me with their string products. You're going to get the great tension of the heavy strings, bright & full sound, distinguished chords (hear every note in the chord as you strum or ring out) & they'll last longer than any other coated strings out there. They're genuine, great quality products and well worth the price. Buy these strings!

Comments about Elixir Electric Guitar Strings with NANOWEB Coating, Heavy (.012-.052):

For the year and a half i've been playing, I must have went through about 5 different strings and not one of those other strings compare to Elixer, I will never use any other strings for my guitars so long as Elixer continues to be the top-end string company that it is today.
They feature a thin coating around the stings that make the strings last longer.
My ex-girlfriend was the one who told me about Elixer strings, before that i was using Ernie Ball or Cleartone, I have to say that I consider Elixer to be top of the line as far as strings go.
Kinda pricey as far as strings are concerned, but Considering low grade strings cost about $5.00, why not pay another $5.00 and get strings that sound better and will last you 3 times longer?

Comments about Elixir Electric Guitar Strings with NANOWEB Coating, Heavy (.012-.052):

Face it, with anyother kind of strings... you will need to changed them at least every 3 months to keep a decent tone. With elixirs, I don't really notice a drop in good tone for at least 6 months, and believe it or not once left a pair on the same guitar for almost two years.
