OVERVIEW

Combat finger grunge!

Amp up your guitar’s tone life with the same premium electric guitar strings that experienced players worldwide trust to keep their incredible tone longer than any other string available. Unlike other string brands, Elixir Strings coats the whole string. This protects not only the outer string surface but also the gaps between the windings where common tone-deadening gunk typically builds up in other brands’ coated and uncoated guitar strings.

Who wouldn’t love more quality playing time between the hassle and cost of string changes?

Engineered to endure, these nickel-plated steel electric guitar strings boast a ton of bright, vibrant presence and dynamic punch. Compared to our original POLYWEB Coating, the ultra-thin NANOWEB Coating allows a more traditionally textured, "uncoated" feel.

For a slicker, gentler feel, try a set of electric guitar strings with Elixir's original POLYWEB Coating, which also feature a warmer tone.

Of course, the kind of string you play is all a matter of personal preference. Not sure what tone or feel is right for you? Try them out for yourself, and find your new favorite string from Elixir Strings.

FEATURES
  • Gauges: 11-14-18-28-38-49
  • Electric guitar strings constructed with nickel-plated steel wrap wire
  • Played for their bright, vibrant presence and dynamic punch
  • Ultra-thin NANOWEB Coating provides a traditionally textured, “uncoated” feel
  • Patented coating technology protects against common corrosion, extending tone life longer than any other brand’s coated or uncoated strings (Elixir Strings player survey)
  • Anti-Rust Plating on plain steel strings ensures longer tone life for the entire set

I may seem a wee bit over-zealous about this, but it simply makes no sense to me why more people do not use these. I adore the vintage tones that so many guitarists seek to acquire, but you do not have to settle for dead, dull, lifeless strings just to be vintage! I bought a brand new Gretsch g5125 hollowbody and was stoked at the complex tones I was getting out of the maple body and the dearmond single coils... but... the first couple packs of strings I tried were dead as a flippin doornail. I tried to deal with it but there was nothing classic or vintage about my immense lack of sustain and "plunky" tone. I was used to using Elixers for my acoustics so I said what the heck lets see if they help. I had already spent a week tweaking the bone nut, refiling grooves, adjusting the bridge and bigsby tailpiece... they all checked out. BAM! the elixers laughed in the face of those crappy Ernie Ball strings everyone uses, or D'Addario or anything else.Bottome line: do it now. forget what everyone tells you and try it! You will hear things in your guitar you never knew were there.

Surprised how I don't like these. I suppose taste changes over time. Been a fan of elixir a long time so i decided to pick up a set of these and boy was i disappointed. Yes, they're great they last long but deprive themselves from good tone and dynamics. I guess it's a sacrifice for longevity. Back to uncoated strings for me, specifically nickel plated steel. Stainless doesn't do it for me on the plains. There's a strange hardness too the tone i don't like. I won't be buying these anymore.

I play for Churches...rock to everything else! I bought them once and from that point on been a believer. I tend to sweat when I play and regular strings are destroyed after one use. These last me a couple weeks. A few performances and everyday practice. I probably don't have to change them even then but I just want to sound my best.
By the way, if you are like me and dispise changing strings all the time then these are the ones for you!

Comments about Elixir Electric Guitar Strings with NANOWEB Coating, Medium (.011-.049):

I've been playing the guitar for over 25 years. I still play almost every day. I wouldn't suggest any other strings to a fellow musician. I've been very pleased with the Elixir brand. They last longer, and maintain their sound longer, than any other brand I've played. A good string. Like everything else, I wish they didn't cost as much as they do, but that's life as we know it today.

    Grounding issues

    By Doug

    from Chicago

    About Me Professional Musician

Comments about Elixir Electric Guitar Strings with NANOWEB Coating, Medium (.011-.049):

I don't usually write reviews and I have loved Elixirs on my acoustic and still do ... they're simply the best. So it pains me a little to write this.

I tried the Med. Nano electrics on my 335 style (semi-hollow), and around the same time I had to replace the output jack. After I did this I was getting some noticable noise problems, like a grounding issue. There was a buzz and everytime I touched something metal on the guitar it would quiet down. I assumed it was the jack that I didn't solder it correctly. Long story, short, I tried everything from replacing all my patch cables, new power supplies for my board, redid the output jack about 6 times, etc, etc. It was maddening because nothing was making the buzz go away.

On a whim, I decided to check the continuity of my guitar with a meter ... and low and behold the low E, A and D strings weren't carrying much, if any, electrical charge. Only 1/2 of my strings were grounded. I changed my strings to uncoated ones and my noise problem disappeared.

My experience might be isolated to this particular guitar but I'm thinking that this issue might be overlooked or mistaken for something else. I hope I can help out another player.

Comments about Elixir Electric Guitar Strings with NANOWEB Coating, Medium (.011-.049):

i ordered these in february and have been shredding on them ever since. i've used all of the leading brands on none of them even come close to the supreme tone and feel of elixirs. they're a little strange to use at first, but once you use them, you'll never want to use anything else again.

Nice strings, if they don't break

    By Drail44

    from Medina, Ohio

Comments about Elixir Electric Guitar Strings with NANOWEB Coating, Medium (.011-.049):

The elixir nanoweb strings are fairly close to regular nickel roundwound strings in sound for my aplications. The coating is nice, but can be a little slipery at first if you're not used to it. I like to use these strings during humid weather when your strings can go dull in a matter of days from just the air. It seems the coated strings are prone to snap at any time though. I do not have this problem with other brands as long as they have less than one month of use. Is this a great deal? One month with other brands or 3 to 4 with elixirs at 3xs the cost and breakage problems? Man that's a tough call. The acoustic polyweb strings are well worth it though.

For any guitar, even a strat!!

    By Slash#2

Comments about Elixir Electric Guitar Strings with NANOWEB Coating, Medium (.011-.049):

I started buying these strings about two years ago after seeing multiple ads in magazines, and man are these the best! They are tougher from breakage! They sound great months later and they continue to stay smooth! The best thing about these strings is that they do stay smooth, no rust! After a while of using them I started to believe that you lose a bit of tone but I compared them with other top brands and I was wrong. I have these strings on all my guitars.(7) including a strat and they all sound clean, crisp, and no tone loss!! The coating does eventually start to peel off but very very little and only where you pick,(not at all by the fretboard) and after months of use. I recommend these strings to anyone that is tired of constantly changing strings. in the long run you save lots of money! They are great for any style of music!!

Great strings feel and sound great

Comments about Elixir Electric Guitar Strings with NANOWEB Coating, Medium (.011-.049):

I ordered a set of these strings for my Fender Electric, and 1 day of playing and I'm ordering more before I forget what I bought !They feel fantastic, smooth feel that lets me glide up and down the strings with almost no friction, and the sound is wonderful. It took a little while to get the initial streatch out of them but once it set, they hold tone great.

Comments about Elixir Electric Guitar Strings with NANOWEB Coating, Medium (.011-.049):

I'm very much a traditional guy and waited a long time to try these. I'll never go back. Traditional strings often didn't last a 4 hour gig for me; these last a month or more. Never broken one. I still think uncoated strings sound better for about the first 10 minutes you have them on, but it ain't worth it.
