OVERVIEW

Elixir Strings with Nanoweb coating last longer and sound great!

Amp up your guitar’s tone life with the same premium electric guitar strings that experienced players worldwide trust to keep their incredible tone longer than any other string available. Unlike other string brands, Elixir Strings coats the whole string. This protects not only the outer string surface but also the gaps between the windings where common tone-deadening gunk typically builds up in other brands’ coated and uncoated guitar strings.

Who wouldn’t love more quality playing time between the hassle and cost of string changes?

Engineered to endure, these nickel-plated steel electric guitar strings boast a ton of bright, vibrant presence and dynamic punch. Compared to our original POLYWEB Coating, the ultra-thin NANOWEB Coating allows a more traditionally textured, “uncoated” feel.

For a slicker, gentler feel, try a set of electric guitar strings with their original POLYWEB Coating, which also feature a warmer tone.

Of course, the kind of string you play is all a matter of personal preference. Not sure what tone or feel is right for you? Try them out for yourself, and find your new favorite string from Elixir Strings.

FEATURES
  • Gauges 9-11-16-24-32-42
  • Electric guitar strings constructed with nickel-plated steel wrap wire
  • Played for their bright, vibrant presence and dynamic punch
  • Ultra-thin NANOWEB Coating provides a traditionally textured, “uncoated” feel
  • Patented coating technology protects against common corrosion, extending tone life longer than any other brand’s coated or uncoated strings (Elixir Strings player survey)

Let me start by saying that I never give anything all 5's. But these strings deserve a perfect score.I have toxic sweaty hands. I love the sound of Ernie Ball strings, but my hands are so bad that if I play my guitar even 1 time after changing strings, I have about a week before they are rusted. not just dead, but completely disgustingly rusted. So I tried the Ernie Ball Coated strings for twice the price of the regulars and got the same result. Rust in less than 1 week. So I took a shot and got these without really knowing anything about them. And I did a side by side comparison. 1 guitar was restrung with my usual Super Slinky's. Another with these Elixir Nanowebs. I played both equally with my toxic hands, for 2 weeks. The Elixir's still look as if I just put them on. Bright, shiny, smooth, and they still have that chimey, new string sound. The Slinky's are dead. Not quite rusted yet, but noticeably corroded, gray and dull. you might be thinking that it's nothing special for a set of strings to still look new after only 2 weeks, but you have to keep in mind that I can completely kill a new set of strings in 3 days if I play enough. These might cost twice as much, but they're on pace to outlast by WAY more than 2 times. To me, that is an excellent value saving me not just money, but also time of having to restring another guitar just to be able to play it. If you have sweaty hands like me, don't even blink, just get these. And don;t listen to what others say about them sounding different or bad. they sound as good as anything else I've tried.

Right away I noticed a change in tension. The hexagonal core might be larger or a different alloy possibly. Strings would break after playing a bit, which I do not have this problem with other strings. I'm an Ernie Ball user and do like the elixir coating better than Ernie Ball coating for electrics. Ernie Ball coating seemed to have tacky feel to them. The nano web coating seems more natural while the poly web feels like theres a rubber tube molded over the string which glides nice, but screws with the tone and tension. I really want to get on with these strings, but struggle with noted opinions and experiments. I believe Ernie Ball strings use a smaller hexagonal core than other string manufacturers with a larger wind. I'm note 100% certain of this, but read on an Ernie Ball forum that commented about this. Ernie B's do have more flex than other string gauges especially comparing the same gauge. It's been awhile since I put an Elixir on my guitars. I have played on Elixir's in guitar store's with guitars strung with Elixir's and still they just seem completely different than other strings. I don't quite understand why players put this string high on a pedestal but will say the strings corrosion is contained better than regular strings. If you leave these strings on for a while they do start to fray where your pick strikes, which would be a good time to change strings. I think I could go threw 2 to 3 packs of non coated EB's for around the same price. Changing strings is kinda therapy for me and it gives me time to clean my guitar. Maybe again I'll try to give the Elixir's another go, but for now I don't feel that curious about changing my ways, but again we all can change for the better if we can just get over our selfs and quit walking around like egomaniacs claiming to be the next guitar king!

I keep trying other brands, thinking I might find something better than Elixir. I never do and end up coming back to these strings. The heavier guages can be a little stiff at first, but they're nice and bright and last forever.

No doubt everyone hears tones a little different. Thing is with these strings, they seem to please alot of people and thats why they sell so many of these. Try them and chances are you'll be like the majority, you'll have to have a secomd set, which by the way, one more reason why I like these strings. They seem to last for twice as long for me. Meaning very little tone loss first and foremost, second thing, they stay cleaner and show no signs of the normal dents.

What else is there to say, they are just the best in my book. I have played for almost a decade and I know what I like (and have been through every brand I can think of). Yes D'Addarios sound okay for the first few times you play them, and then they get all nasty and start sounding crappy, much like EVERY other string out there besides Elixir. I had these on my guitar for almost a year (given I wasn't gigging regularly, I did play every day though). They still had at least the sound quality of a set of mildly used D'Addarios after that year. I've had the same results with the next set and have been gigging every weekend sometimes twice a week for over 6 months. That's all I have to say, if you want quality - and a BEAUTIFUL sound, buy these.

I figured out that only a 9 set will do on my Les Paul. I tried several brands of 9 sets and I thought Ernie Ball was the way to go. After playing Ernie Balls for awhile, I realized they were just to silky feeling. That's when I tried these. I was amazed at the difference. Elixirs feel the best so far. They last about a year since I don't play my Les Paul away from home to often. I have yet to break one of these strings. I see no reason to buy another brand of strings for my Les Paul. It's the most fussy guitar I have for matching up the right set of guitar strings.

Comments about Elixir Electric Guitar Strings with NANOWEB Coating, Super Light (.009-.042):

Firstly, these strings are really nice - great sound quality and feel. However, when I strung them on my ESP, my 6 string, E, was somehow magnetically charged, and kept sticking to the screws on my humbucker causing a really funky plink sound everytime I hit it. This wasn't a big issue for me, 'cause I have adjustable humbuckers, and just lowered them down into the well further, but if you have fixed humbuckers this could pose as a problem.

Comments about Elixir Electric Guitar Strings with NANOWEB Coating, Super Light (.009-.042):

I've been a die hard D'addario player for years now. And still am depending on the sound I'm seeking. True, these strings have an added brilliance that vintage purists may not like. BUT for someone seeking a bright, almost stainless sound, these are perfect. They are also noticeably tighter feeling. 9's feel almost like a half gauge(9 1/2's). So even when broken in, they still have the snap as if they were new. And best of all, after a month of HARD playing and testing, they still sound brand spanking new. I'm sold. BUT for a vintage, more pure nickel wound tone, D'addario's all the way.

They are great strings, a bit pricey but i can live with that. The coating does help ALOT with those long scale climbs, but a word of caution... do not overtighten the .009 gauge. it will break very easily.

I am a lead player in a country band so I do a lot of bending and fast picking and these have held up very well. I used to change my strings every month, maybe two at most. Now I find these lasting 3-4 months with the same brand new tone. Washing your hands before playing always makes them last longer too. I still buy Ernie Ball super slinky's (which I used before these) for extra sets in case I break strings because the Elixir's are a little spendy but I always use the Elixir's for my regular changes. You won't be disappointed with these strings.

I love these strings! They are the only strings I will use on my Tele. Don't really care for the sound of them on my Strat. Will outlast most strings 3 to 4 times.
