OVERVIEW

Fight the grunge!

Gauges 09-11-16-24-32-42.

Elixir Electric Guitar Strings are covered with an ultrathin, space-age polymer tube that contacts the string on the tops of the windings only. This leaves the all-important winding-to-winding-to-core space free from the fear of the enemies of tone! No more gunk and goo. No more DNA evidence. No kidding.

In addition to an ultrathin grunge-resistant tubular coating on the wound strings, Polywebs now have a revolutionary Anti-Rust plating on the plain strings to extend their life too.

Elixirs are the first major innovation in guitar strings in over forty years, and deliver what they promise: great tone and long life no matter what you put them on or how often you play.

FEATURES
  • Gauges 09-11-16-24-32-42

  • Patented coating technology protects against common corrosion, extending tone life longer than any other brand’s coated or uncoated strings (Elixir Strings player survey)
  • Anti-Rust Plating on plain steel strings ensures longer tone life for the entire set

Comments about Elixir Electric Guitar Strings with POLYWEB Coating, Super Light (.009-.042):

Normally, I go through a set of strings in a week or two. I play daily, though not professionally any more. I do play for audiences, however, several times a month. Normal strings only last a week or perhaps two. The Polywebs last for several months. They just kept playing and playing and...

Comments about Elixir Electric Guitar Strings with POLYWEB Coating, Super Light (.009-.042):

Before I started using Elixir's Polyweb strings I would have to change my guitar strings literally twice every night. This strings not only last forever but they both sound and feel amazing. Hands down, the best strings on the market. It is a shame however that the Polywebs are only available in only two gauges.

Comments about Elixir Electric Guitar Strings with POLYWEB Coating, Super Light (.009-.042):

Got a set of these on an LP that I got a while back, they lasted quite a while, but I haven't used them since, as I was a loyal D'Ad user. But I recently got a bad lot of those with a consistently breaking D string, so another player recommended I try them again. So far, so good, but they are slippery, and I find my fingers slipping off on long bends. Still getting used to them.

These strings are by far the best I have ever used. I use them on my American Deluxe Strat, and they sound great, and they last forever. I've had a set go for nearly 6 months playing regularly, and wiping down the strings after each use. Never broken one yet either. The only down side is the price....

Comments about Elixir Electric Guitar Strings with POLYWEB Coating, Super Light (.009-.042):

I was recommended these strings by my guitar teacher and i thought they were any old strings, i started playing them and after 10 minutes i was hooked. I live in Hawaii and a lot of strings go bad really fast due to the climate, Not these. I've have a pair of polyweb 9's on my jackson and a pair of nanoweb 9's on my fender both for about 5 months and I'm just starting to see a little residue, but they still feel and sound almost new. I'd recommend the polywebs though, the nanowebs are going a little fast. Overall these strings are amazing and I'm never going back.

These strings have amazing tone, and volume, i can practice without an amp if i need to. They have such a nice sound to em, and distort very well. No need for fast-fret these strings slide amazingly well on their own. I love these strings, i may never go back.

Comments about Elixir Electric Guitar Strings with POLYWEB Coating, Super Light (.009-.042):

Strings are definitely long lasting. I've had a set on for almost 2 months, and they still sound new. Definitely have a slick coating and sliding on the strings is quite effortless with no squeaking. For me there are two downsides: 1. These strings feel more like 10's than 9's. Put on a set of Daddario or Super Slinky 10's and they'd feel about the same as these 9's do. This must be from the coating they use. It's not a major issue, it just takes a little more effort to bend. The other is obvious, the price. But if these are going to last months when others are going to last weeks, it should not be huge concern.

            The Perfect fit

            By Tammy DeLeo

            from Richmond Va

Comments about Elixir Electric Guitar Strings with POLYWEB Coating, Super Light (.009-.042):

16 years and dozens of failed string testings. Polyweb is my choice of strings on all my guitars. From Les Pauls to Steinbergers, and anything that has a Floyd Rose you can not choose another brand. The Polywebs have a thicker, slicker feel to them compared to the Nanoweb. I prefer this feel, but either type has more life in them than any other string I tested. I can do a Floyd Rose string change and adjustments in just about 25 minutes. I don't need to be doing that every couple of weeks or month. With Poly & Nano, you can get between 6 to 8 weeks of moderate playing on them. If you only play occasionally you can easily get 3 months out of them. I advise to change them every 3 months no matter how much playing has been done. But just like any strings, the more bending you do the less life they will have. If you go nuts on the Floyd Rose every other moment you'll get no more than 4 good weeks out of them. But compare that intense playing with a set of Ernie Ball super slinky's and your lucky if you get 2 weeks life. Bottom line, they double your current strings life span no matter how you play them. Just change them every 3 months like you would an oil change on a car. The price is double cause they WILL last twice as long. If not 3 times as much.

Have exclusively used Elixirs on my Les Paul and Strat for the past five years. On average I'll play these guitars for full gigs, rehearsals, and everyday practice at home. I used to have to replace strings every three weeks. I swear by all that's holy, I change the strings every 10 months not because I have to, but because I feel guilty. they never lose tone stay in tune, and I've yet to break one. Best strings I've ever used in my thirty five years of gigging.

I have been using these strings for years now. I love them. They sound great and last twice as long as any other strings I've tried. Never wrote a review though until now. I recently tried D'Addarios new coated strings. Bought 3 packs of the Super Lights from Musicians Friend. Not sure why. They were terrible. Only lasted 3 to 4 weeks. That is why I decided to right this review. I still haven't found a better set of strings than Elixirs Polyweb Super lights...
