OVERVIEW

Get a grip on gunk!

Gauges: 45-65-85-105.

Nanoweb coating permits electric bass strings with the feel, bright tone, and punch of traditional strings. Elixirs are the first major innovation in bass strings in over forty years, and they deliver what they promise: great tone and long life no matter what you put them on or how often you play.

Elixir Nanoweb Bass Strings are covered with an ultrathin, space-age polymer tube that contacts the string on the tops of the windings only. This leaves the all-important winding-to-winding-to-core space free from the fear of the enemies of tone!

Most players report that Elixir Strings keep sounding great 3 to 5 times longer than ordinary strings.

Comments about Elixir Nanoweb Medium / Long Scale Electric Bass Strings:

I've always used mainly RotoSound, or sometimes GHS Bass Boomers. The few exceptions turned out to not be worth it. I was for a long time reluctant to try Elixir strings, even in spite of the great reviews I kept reading. Catching them at a discounted price, I decided to give them a try. I fully expected that 'coated' strings would lack the brightness and expressiveness I prefer. Not only was I surprised, but I was completely blown away! These strings sound simply amazing! It does take a bit longer for them to hold their initial tuning compared to RotoSound of Bass Boomers, but not only is the difference not deal-breaking, but it's well worth the wait. I can say honestly that I don't want to use any other strings after trying Elixir. They are my new string-of-choice.
I've had them on for less than a week, so I can't speak yet to their durability or how long they will hold their tuning or sound like they do now, but I'm still thoroughly impressed. Highly recommended!

Comments about Elixir Nanoweb Medium / Long Scale Electric Bass Strings:

I have the worst skin chemistry in the known world and would go through standard strings once every 3-4 weeks of practice and playing out. In reality, most strings start going dead after 1 week and I prefer live piano like tones on my basses. These strings last me up to a year if I wipe them down and really do not seem to lose too much tone for at least 3-4 months. I have never had a Elixir bass string break so I know they are strong. These are the best for me and there is no second place.

I have used these strings for the past twenty years and have yet to be let down. The intonation is crisp, clear, and good quality overall.

Comments about Elixir Nanoweb Medium / Long Scale Electric Bass Strings:

Since the days of the Flatwound strings I used on both bass and Strat, these come close in feel to those, but have a more superior tone consistency than those strings from my era.
