OVERVIEW

Elixir Strings with Nanoweb coating last longer and sound great!

Gauges 10-13-17-26-36-46.

The engineers at Elixir took their original Polyweb coating and shrunk it down to Nanoweb size. The result? Brighter-sounding electric guitar strings that last 3 to 5 times longer than regular strings.

In addition to an ultrathin grunge-resistant tubular coating on the wound strings, Nanowebs now have a revolutionary Anti-Rust plating on the plain strings to extend their life too.

Elixirs are the first major innovation in guitar strings in over forty years, and they deliver what they promise: great tone and long life no matter what you put them on or how often you play.

I've been playing for 26 years, this is without a doubt the best feeling and longest lasting set of strings I've ever used.
No one enjoys changing strings and cleaning them after every session. After trying these you will find your playing experience...liberating.
No other coated string does it this good.

Although the strings are advertised as having a long life, I've found them to break easily while bending or tuning. You have to consider that the nanoweb coating Elixer puts on these strings decreases from the monetary resources left over for the actual string; it ends up being cheaper in order to maintain a competitive price. The coating wears off easily and proves to be pretty useless except for serving to make the string slipperier and slidier. As a result, the strings feel smoother on your hands and create less noise from rubbing against them. I like this string noise, and the friction it's caused by helps me, personally, to feel the distance I'm sliding across the string. In other words, it's easier to keep track of where I'm at on the neck. The only possible reason I could think of to use Elixer's would be if you never bend and you really like the slippery feel that they give. I did use them for a while for this purpose, but I now find them to be too slippery. If you are a novice, please look at Ernie Ball or D'addario strings. They withstand more punishment and they have a much more popular, natural, human sound.

If you sweat when you play do yourself a favor. These are fantastic for that reason. No rust or dead sounding strings anymore. They will last and will settle in with very little tuning needed from week to week.

I do not mind cleaning my strings, the Dunlop 65 is simple to use and works great but I have multiple guitars and Elixirs last quite a while. More playing-less maint. Yes!

The guitar strings were a present for my nephew who is in a band. He asked for these strings specifically.

Comments about Elixir Light Nanoweb Electric Guitar Strings:

Picked up learning guitar seriously about 2 years ago. These were recommended by a friend who is a very good player. Since I'm still at the beginner level, my ear hasn't developed enough to tell the difference in tone but I like that they stay in tune and last a long time.

Comments about Elixir Light Nanoweb Electric Guitar Strings:

I have tried everything and these are the only strings that handle the wear and tear of show after show. When I used other brands, I would have to change strings after each show, but with Elixir I can easily go three or four weeks without any loss of tone or playability. Not to mention the out of box tone with these strings is very crisp and clear.

Comments about Elixir Light Nanoweb Electric Guitar Strings:

I've been using Elixirs almost exclusively for at least six years for both acoustic and electric. I don't need and really don't even like really bright strings so if the coating on these affect the tone it doesn't bother me.
I leave these on until the G starts to be fairly worn which can be months on some guitars (since I own a few and feature a different one every few weeks) and they still give me the good dirty bluesy sound I want.
Another thing I like about Elixirs is that they don't start to leave a metallic odor on my fingers like regular strings do after a week or so. Maybe it's just my particular chemistry but the fingers on my left hand seem to get a residue from uncoated strings and I have to wash my hands after I play for more than a few minutes, especially if I'm going to eat, say, or pick my nose ...
I've tried Cleartones and EXPs and I stick with the Elixirs.
