OVERVIEW

Combat string grunge!

Gauges 10-13-17-26-36-46.

Elixir Electric Guitar Strings are covered with an ultrathin, space age polymer tube that contacts the string on the tops of the windings only. This leaves the all-important winding-to-winding-to-core space free from the fear of the enemies of tone! No more gunk and goo. No more DNA evidence. No kidding.

In addition to an ultrathin grunge-resistant tubular coating on the wound strings, Polywebs now have a revolutionary Anti-Rust plating on the plain strings to extend their life too.

Elixirs are the first major innovation in guitar strings in over 40 years, and deliver what they promise: great tone and long life no matter what you put them on or how often you play.

I rated a 4 because they are pretty expensive. I used them long ago and decided I would try them again in case I missed something. I have had a set on my 335 for about a month and they still sound "new" even though they sound sort of broken in when I put them on they haven't lost any sound. I just put a set on my PRS. Several things I have noticed:

    1) They have a very smooth feel, I liked that right away. Some people might not like the slippery feel.
    2) There is less "String Talk" that is you get less fret noise. Also they don't have that annoying sitar sound I was getting from the other strings I was using.
    3) They seem more balanced. Usually I change strings after the low "E" starts sounding dull even if they are holding their tuning. The wound strings seem to be hold up and still have a good tone.
    4) When installing they seem to hold tune better right away. I normally tug on each string and re-tune until they hold, these require less tugging. I'm hoping this will help with tremolo use, it does seem they come back in tune very well.

I have heard that these string are easier on frets so that frets won't wear as quickly. Time will tell.

I'll keep using them for awhile. If they last as long as some people say then maybe they aren't that expensive if you don't have to but strings as often.

Wow the long term good sound, the smooth feel of the strings, the.... Awww dangit I broke one. See.. would you rather break and have to replace a 14 dollar string... or a 3 dollar string?Buy cheaper strings in bulk and youll find that about 12 packs of EB Slinky's will equal 3 of Elixer. And with cheaper strings you dont have to pray that string wont break when your in the zone. And ALSO! The sound quality of EB Strings vs Elixers is pretty darn close. In conclusion, all you hard rockers out there and all you acid fingered people, these aint your bag.

Comments about Elixir Light Polyweb Electric Guitar Strings:

The strings took a slight break in period to remain in tune. The are much better on the finger action than the non-coated strings. So far, very good tone. Just started a try out period, so I'll see how they hold up. Even though I don't have a problem with strings getting rusty, they were recommended by Scott Grove, excellent player and instructor. Very good suggestion!

Comments about Elixir Light Polyweb Electric Guitar Strings:

A friend of mine had a set of these on their Gibson and they were super slippery (in a good way) and it made playing a lot easier. Compared to the traditional strings on my strat these were a lot more forgiving on my fingertips.

I had meant to try Elixer strings for some time, but had balked at the concept. Well after having tried them, all I can say, is "I should not have waited". Pricey? Maybe, but they are worth it, in my humble opinion...

These are the elixr of life for guitars. Simply the best. Like willy wonka of strings invented these. This company will do fine to keep these on the market, as in my humble opinion they are the best and I've tried everything from dean markley's to ernie balls to high end expensive (more so) than these.
