OVERVIEW

Defeat gunk!

Gauges 10-14-24-34.

Elixirs are the first major innovation in strings in over 40 years, and deliver what they promise: great tone and long life no matter what you put them on or how often you play.

Elixir Mandolin Strings are covered with an ultrathin, space-age polymer tube that contacts the string on the tops of the windings only. They're coated with the patented Nanoweb technology. This leaves the all-important winding-to-winding-to-core space free from the enemies of tone!

Most players report that Elixir Strings keep sounding great 3 to 5 times longer than ordinary strings.

FEATURES
  • Gauges 10-14-24-34
  • Mandolin strings constructed with 80/20 (80% copper, 20% zinc) bronze wrap wire
  • Played for a bright, bell-like tone
  • Ultra-thin NANOWEB Coating provides a traditionally textured, “uncoated” feel
  • Patented coating technology protects against common corrosion, extending tone life longer than any other brand’s coated or uncoated strings (Elixir Strings player survey)
  • Coating also reduces finger squeak

Comments about Elixir Mandolin Strings with NANOWEB Coating, Light (.010-.034):

Other strings that I've used don't last very long on my mandolin. The elixir mando strings stay bright sounding longer than others.

Great Strings for Certain Mandolin

By Gregory

Comments about Elixir Mandolin Strings with NANOWEB Coating, Light (.010-.034):

I have an inexpensive no-name A-style mandolin and an F-style Michale Kelly. After buying the MK, I bought about 15 different strings from here (great value and unbeatable variety). The Elixir strings did not sound good on the MK, but made my no-name come alive.

I use the mando in multiple bands and tour nationally. These strings last a long time and maintain tone. Highly recommended.

Comments about Elixir Mandolin Strings with NANOWEB Coating, Light (.010-.034):

While not a professional I have restrung many instruments for myself and friends. In my experience, many amateurs are hesitant to do this and are often delighted with the results of the relatively inexpensive rejuvenation. Music teachers should all encourage replacing old strings and show their students how to clean and restring their instruments.

Comments about Elixir Mandolin Strings with NANOWEB Coating, Light (.010-.034):

I have installed these strings on 3 mandolins. The tone is very nice compared to the purchased instrument strings (not sure what brand they were). The G string on one inexpensive mandolin does not sound as good as the others (it feels too light) - so I will replace it with a medium tension string to see if the problem can be solved that way. I had a luthier fix a warped neck on one older mandolin (100yrs?) and he suggested using medium or light tension strings to reduce the pull on the board.
