Combat finger grunge!

Gauges: 10-10-14-14-23-09-30-12-39-18-47-27.

Elixirs are the first major innovation in strings in over forty years, and they deliver what they promise: great tone and long life no matter what you put them on or how often you play. Nanoweb coating permits strings with the feel, bright tone, and punch of traditional strings.

Elixir Nanoweb 12-String Acoustic Guitar Strings are covered with an ultra-thin, space-age polymer tube that contacts the string on the tops of the windings only. This leaves the all-important winding-to-winding-to-core space free from the fear of the enemies of tone!

Most players report that Elixir Strings keep sounding great 3 to five times longer than ordinary strings.

Good value. Much better to pay more for strings that last and keep their tone rather then switching them all the time. Makes then environment friendly
Those are the original strings on my Taylor DN3 Guitar. They have a great slightly scooped studio tone and a solft feeling.

My local dealer did not have these and suggested me to try out the Phosphore Bronze of the same kind because he did not have the 80/20 in hand. I will review the Phosphore Bronze as well.
Tone is smooth, with well defined lows, slightly scooped mids and slightly sparkling highs, and they kept their full tone until the high E string became extrely week.

They don't project as much as the Phosphore Bronze, but they have a better studio tone. The Phosphore Bronse is more a folk sound.

Durability is quite good. I kept the original strings on my Taylor for 8 months before I notice the tone rapidly fading away. I bet for acoustic giutar strings that are strummed almost daily, this is REALLY good.

They are also quite smooth on the frets, thanks to their coating. I noticed some discoloration when my left hand works hardest, but this discoloration comes into play only when the instrument is put down for a few weeks. If the instrument is played more then twoce weekly, this does not occur. also it does not affect the sound at all.
I use to tell the guitar player of our band to get better acoustic strings because he was breaking strings on almost every gig.

These strings are durable and have concistent tones, just like my other favorites (DR strings) which I used on my Bass Guitars.

I enjoy the sound and longevity. I especially like that they stay in tune during a set. I do not like the the G string 023 keeps breaking at the bridge even after applying graphite. Elixer sent 4 replacement strings but changing this string every week is getting old. Problem is I have a Breedlove that does not use bridge pins, but these strings should still handle the tension

Comments about Elixir Nanoweb Light 12-String Acoustic Guitar Strings:

My ONLY negative comment, is that the ultra-light guage of 12-string set isn't available at MF. In my opinion, if you intend to play rhythm guitar on 12-string w/ bar chords, you NEED those ultra-light guage strings regardless of brand.

I've played all kinds of guitars (mainly, rhythm) for ~30 yrs. I discovered Elixirs ~15 yrs. ago, & have been hooked on them ever since. If they make a set that fits an instrument I need to string, I'll make a dive avoiding any other brand. The tone is always excellent, and the durability top-notch. I haven't found a genre yet that doesn't benefit from the sound of Elixirs. I love the fact I don't need to clean the strings before putting the instrument away. Saves me a LOT of time & effort. I've never had an Elixir string break. (Except of course, the one time I was drunk, my B string was flat, & I kept cranking the E tuner trying to raise the B... Hee, hee, hee! The laugh was on me.)

A final comment: I found that using Elixir electric guitar nanoweb strings was THE solution for making my banjitar sound excellent both acoustically & amplified, as well as resolving playability issues re. a "dead spot" on the fretboard.

Comments about Elixir Nanoweb Light 12-String Acoustic Guitar Strings:

I have been testing the Phospher Bronze Custom Light guage Elixir strings on my Fender acoustic for 3 months now and they still sound beautiful. I have played 24 shows on the same set without a single incident. I can see some wear starting to show but the sound is still flawless.
My only complaint is with my dealer here in town who charges more than twice what MF charges which means I have to order them to save money...not that it is a problem, it's just inconvenient that I can't buy them locally at a reasonable cost.

I just purchased a Washburn 12 string the other day and already ordered a set of the 12's for it. That review will be coming at a later date.

Comments about Elixir Nanoweb Light 12-String Acoustic Guitar Strings:

Playing twelve strings means a wider neck and more "finger power". I had extra light strings on it last time and found them easier to play.

Great strings, keep me coming back for new sets

Comments about Elixir Nanoweb Light 12-String Acoustic Guitar Strings:

Reading through some of these reviews are really quite entertaining. I've never had breakage problems with Elixir strings. I usually end up changing the strings once every couple years (you read that right - the current set on my 12 string have lasted almost 2 years), and not because the strings break too easily... After a while they stop holding tune, and that's usually a good indicator as to when it's time to change them. The coating on the strings is really nice, and keep you from completely destroying your fingers on a new set of strings for an acoustic.

            Elixer Nanoweb strings

            By Jimbo-_rBN6

Comments about Elixir Nanoweb Light 12-String Acoustic Guitar Strings:

Use Elixer strings on my Strat, Casino Elitist, old Tacoma 6 string acoustic-electric, and a Taylor GS8-12. I have played for 5 years, so my technique is probably not the greatest. Having said that, I have had absolutely no problem with these strings. Have changed them now several times on each instrument, with no string breakage or tuning issues. Love them.

Long lasting sound, short on reliability

Comments about Elixir Nanoweb Light 12-String Acoustic Guitar Strings:

Love to play these strings for their long-lasting sound. Unfortunately when you try to extend the life of the strings both the G and the D strings are subject to breaking (and sometimes the b). Don't know the solution except for Elixir to reexamine their metallurgy.

            Great tone for MONTHS!

            By voodoochile808

            from Honolulu, HI

Comments about Elixir Nanoweb Light 12-String Acoustic Guitar Strings:

I generally prefer the phosphor bronze ones, but sometimes the local stores don't have, and I need to pick up a set for a gig. The tone is excellent in both sets, however, I highly recommend both. And they last FOREVER. Never before have I had a set of strings last me more than a couple gigs. Now I can play for a good two or three months without loosing any tone at all, or breaking a string. I don't know why so many people are having problems with breaking strings--I play really hard, and I've never broken one within three months of putting them on. Just put them on, stretch them out a little, and enjoy...for a long, long, time.
