OVERVIEW

Combat finger grunge!

Gauges: 45-65-80-100.

Elixir Light Acoustic Bass Strings are covered with an ultra-thin, space-age polymer tube that contacts the string on the tops of the windings only. This leaves the all-important winding-to-winding-to-core space free from the fear of the enemies of tone!

Elixirs are the first major innovation in strings in over forty years, and they deliver what they promise: great tone and long life no matter what you put them on or how often you play. Nanoweb coating permits strings with the feel, bright tone, and punch of traditional strings.

Most players report that Elixir Strings keep sounding great 3 to five times longer than ordinary strings.

Just bought these and installed them on my Fender Kingman . It seems that most string makers are of a mindset that bass strings should be clear and "bright" , and thus most Phos / Bronze sets out there are just that . IMHO, If you're playing an AEB (Acoustic Electric Bass), my guess, you're not looking for a lot of "twang" in your strings . they're ugly clanky sounds and nobody I know desires that in an AEB (If you do, forget about the Elixirs) . I was hesitant to change the OEM strings because after 2 years, they were well broken in and now had a smooth , solid and punchy tone to them, great for recording and getting that emulated Upright sound, and I dreaded hearing and feeling, and having to go through that "new" string rashness on the AEB . However, they were running low on charm, and (this doesn't happen to everyone) my finger tips were always charcoal colored after playing them, and who knows what's getting absorbed into my body .

Aynyway, these Elixir strings are everything I could hope for . Smooth, Warm, Earthy tones were present immediately after installing . Silky to the touch and my fingers don't turn black! .

Hopefully they retain this sound and feel . they're perfect for that AEB tone I'm looking for, with the clarity and punch also needed to cut through!

I bought a set to replace a set of DR Rare Phosphor Bronze strings. I don't play my acoustic all that often so I figured coated would be a good option. Tone wise and feel wise, No. The tone does have a full low end but no mid-range character. The tension was strangely high considering they are a lighter gage than the DR's. High tension on an acoustic means choked sound as the top can't vibrate as it should. If long life is all you're concerned with these may work, but the tone and feel leaves a lot to be desired.

These strings were recommended, by Musiciansfriend, for my new Ibanez acoustic bass guitar I purchased from them. The bass guitar and the strings came together in the same package. After making certain the acoustic bass guitar was working perfectly I decided to change the strings today.

          ((( WHAT A DIFFERENCE!!! )))

If I didn't know better I would swear I was playing an acoustic bass guitar that was MUCH MORE expensive!

          VERY IMPRESSIVE!!!

Comments about Elixir Nanoweb Light Acoustic Bass Strings:

You can't go wrong with the Elixir Bass strings for Electric or Acoustic. The set of Acoustic strings I currently have on my Washburn Acoustic Electric Bass have been on for at least 2 years and they sound as good now as they did when I put them on. The only reason I need new ones is because the coating is finally coming off. Buy these strings, because you'll never find any better.

Are E and A supposed to be the same string?

Comments about Elixir Nanoweb Light Acoustic Bass Strings:

These are fine quality strings but in the first package I received, the E and A strings look identical. I mean I could not tell them apart. My guess is that I received two A's and no E. So I ordered another set... same thing. I'm not going to try for "three's a charm." The individual string envelopes said .10 and .08 respectively but the were the same exact size. The D'addario string I've used have color-coded string tailpieces so you can distinguish one from the other (if you can't tell from simply looking at the string) but these Elixirs all have a brass tailpiece.

                Worth the extra couple bucks

Comments about Elixir Nanoweb Light Acoustic Bass Strings:

I bought these strings for the acoustic bass guitar that I made last year, and without lying to you they sound better than any other acoustic bass guitar strings I have put on that guitar yet. I haven't had them that long, but normally the bass strings I get begin to look disgusting from finger oils and then they begin to get the hard, rough tone where as I am looking for the warm softer tone that you can get with brand new strings. These strings last alot longer, and their tone stays consistent over a long period of time making the extra $$ very much worth it.

I bought these string for my acoustic bass about a month ago because I needed a new pair and they were the only ones a stor by me carried. While they are expensive they are great strings. I own a cheap acoustic bass just to play around an practice on and the strings help it sound a lot better than I thought they would....definately spend a little more and get these strings

These sound great but the price is ridiculous in my opinion. I'm determined to find something cheaper that sounds just as good but so far I haven't.
