OVERVIEW

Balanced voice across all strings.

Strum confidently with the same premium acoustic guitar strings that experienced players worldwide trust to keep their incredible tone longer than any other string available.

Unlike other string brands, Elixir Strings coats the whole string. This protects not only the outer string surface but also the gaps between the windings where common tone-deadening gunk typically builds up in other brands’ coated and uncoated guitar strings. Anti-Rust Plating on plain steel strings ensures longer tone life for the entire set.

Who wouldn’t love more quality playing time between the hassle and cost of string changes?

Engineered to endure, these acoustic strings constructed with phosphor bronze wrap wire boast a dynamic balance of rich, full-bodied tone and sparkling high-end clarity. Compared to our original POLYWEB Coating, the ultra-thin NANOWEB coating allows a more traditionally textured, “uncoated” feel.

For a slicker, gentler feel, try a set of strings with their original POLYWEB Coating. The 80/20 Bronze Acoustic Guitar Strings with POLYWEB Coating, for example, might be a good fit if you want a more robust and rounded tone. On the other end of the tone spectrum, Elixir's 80/20 Bronze Acoustic Guitar Strings with NANOWEB Coating deliver a brighter, crisper tone alongside the same traditional feel as these phosphor bronze strings.

Of course, the kind of string you play is all a matter of personal preference. Not sure what tone or feel is right for you? Try them out for yourself, and find your new favorite string from Elixir Strings. Jam on and on (and on) with the same premium electric bass guitar strings that experienced players worldwide trust to keep their incredible tone longer than any other string available.

Specially developed based on in-depth feedback from more than a thousand bass players just like you, Elixir Strings' tailor-made selection of bass strings proudly includes nickel-plated and stainless steel construction options, four-, five- and six-string sets, long and extra-long scales, and virtually every gauge range you could possibly need. All with their innovative string coating technology. And unlike other string brands, Elixir Strings coats the whole string. This protects not only the outer string surface but also the gaps between the windings where common tone-deadening gunk typically builds up in other brands’ coated and uncoated guitar strings.

Who wouldn’t love more quality playing time between the hassle and cost of string changes?

Premium by design, these electric bass guitar strings constructed with nickel-plated steel wrap wire boast a rich, rounded tone with incredible clarity and a heavy mid-range presence. Meanwhile, the ultra-thin NANOWEB Coating, redesigned specifically for bass guitars, allows a smooth, natural feel that also enhances grip and reduces finger squeak.

For a brighter bass tone, try our Stainless Steel Bass Strings with NANOWEB Coating.

Of course, the kind of string you play is all a matter of personal preference. Not sure what tone is right for you? Try them out for yourself, and find your new favorite string from Elixir Strings.

I tried these strings out on my seagull s6 spruce and ended up liking them. I had light medium elixirs on before, and compared to the light mediums the hd lights are quite a bit more balanced in terms of tone and feel (on your fretting hand). Nice for both fingerpicking/fingerstyle and strumming, prob not so much if you play blues or bend a lot. You do lose a little bit of volume, and it is clear that they were voiced for smaller bodied guitars rather than dreads or jumbos (as in if you like the bass of a dread or jumbo you might not like these).

I likethe brand, always have but these just sound weird to me. I put them on my Jumbo Alavarez and I just do not like the tone at all. Hard to explain, sound almost too twangy or something but just not pleasing to my ear at all. Will be replacing them very soon. I'm sure they're up to Elixer standards on quality which is always awesome but I won't buy the Phosphor Bronze ones ever again.

For my guitar, not so great

    By Tim

    from California

    About Me Experienced

Comments about Elixir Phosphor Bronze Acoustic Guitar Strings with NANOWEB Coating, HD Light (.013-.053):

I bought these expecting "HD" sound of some sort. Well, maybe for some guitars this may be true. I know they're designed for Taylor so maybe that's the ticket, I dunno. My Martin HD35 has incredible loud and full sound and the Elixer light mediums really add an even greater volume to this dread, but the HD lights seem to deaden the low end some. The high end seems to ring clearer but the strings became difficult to play, requiring more pressure to get them to sound out. If I press hard, the high end does reward me with very clear trebles but... I prefer easy playing and full sound so I knocked off a star on my rating. Reading the reviews I have to assume that they must work better on some guitars than others, I guess. Just not for me and mine, however.

I have a six string and a 12 string Taylor, Elixir strings came on both when I bought them. I was a Martin SP man .Not soon after I bought my 6 string, I was telling my self put The Martin strings on, then listen too it. I did . I always felt it took a couple days for the strings to settle down. I found myself telling myself the strings you took off sounded better than your favorite you put on. after a week or two I could not take it any more . I ordered Elixir strings put them back on . and have never been sorry again. the Martin SP sounded great on my Two other solid top guitars I Had . But for these Taylor Guitars I Have Elixir Are For Me.

I have a Taylor so I was interested in these strings. But I'm currently in Afghanistan and I decided not to bring my Taylor here. I bought a Cort Earth 70 to bring to the desert and installed these strings on it right away. They really sound good on this guitar. So far they sound great and stay in tune well. I will restring my Taylor just as soon as I get back home. Definitely worth the price. No guitar sounds good with bad strings on it.

The factory strings on my Taylor mini GS got crummy from use so I tried some 80/20 Bronze Ernie Ball acoustic strings and they made the guitar sound like a cheap cardboard toy. I found out that Taylor specifically uses and recommends Elixir strings for this guitar. As soon as the new set was on the Taylor sounded like a choir of angels again!

My Taylor 914CE came with these strings on it and Taylor recommended using them. When it came time to restring the guitar, I put on some Martin extra lights as that is what I have been using for several years on other guitars. I have gone back to the Elixirs. They have a good feel when playing and overall better sound. Really beefy on the low end. Also, when they advertise them as long life, they really are.

I've tried just about every string on the market over the last 20 years. For years, I swore by Martin Phosphor Bronze Custom Lights. My primary guitars were an older sunburst Taylor 210ce (ES1), a Boulder Creek A/E, an Ibanez Jumbo w/ Fishman Sonicore pup and a Martin LXME. I was very happy with the Martin strings, but then I bought a Taylor 214ce (ES2) that came with these Elixir HD strings. I had tried Elixirs a long time ago, thought the sounded "good, but never great." I dig that "new string" brightness for performance and the Elixirs just sounded "pretty decent", but were "pretty decent" for a long time.

That is not the case with these new HD Elixirs. They're bright and articulate. I've switched to Elixir HD's on all of my acoustics (except the Martin LXME, still better with Martins). I wouldn't usually bother with reviewing strings, but the other guitarist mentioned my strings were starting to sound a little dead. I knew the Elixirs had been on there for a LONG time, so I logged into my MF account to see when I ordered them. It had been slightly over a year! I'd put over a hundred hours on these strings!

I used to restring 2-5 guitars per month...11 guitars, 5 of which are used regularly. If a pack of Martin's lasted for a month, I thought that was great. Technology has improved! Elixir HD's are that new $#!+ and I am a convert!

This the first time I've used this brand of strings and paid this much for a set. By my ear the guitar sounds out of tune even though my electronic tuner tells me otherwise. I'll give them another week or two but after that it's back to the D'Addario or Martin strings.
