EMG

A high-output, 7-string humbucker that's ideal for lead guitar, soloing, and high-volume overdrive.

The high-output EMG 81-7X active guitar pickup is designed especially for the 7-string lead guitarist. The 81 is at its best for high-volume overdrive and amps with a master volume. Whether you're playing power rock 'n' roll or overdriving your amp, there's a razor-sharp attack and incredible sustain for brilliant soloing. If you're looking for exceptional qualities in a 7-string rock pickup, the EMG 81-7X is the one.

The 81-7X and other EMG pickups from the X-Series provide increased headroom, giving the voicing an organic and open tone while still maintaining the clarity and response that EMGs are renowned for. The EMG 81-7Xs are best described as bridging the gap between passive and active tone.

The EMG 81-7X guitar pickup package includes: EMG's exclusive Solderless Install System, a split shaft volume/tone control set, an output jack, a battery clip set, plus screws and springs.

Features

Don't settle for muddy tone on the low end of your 7-string anymore when you order the EMG 81-7X today.

Comments about EMG 81-7X 7-String Active Guitar Pickup:

I'll start by saying that I've been playing both electric guitar and classic nylon acoustic guitar for well over 15 years that make up half my life. My first 7-String was stolen within the first year or so of having purchased it. The following year, I would purchase another which today is very much like the Ibanez RG7321 with passive pickups and fixed bridge. Although not bad by default I wanted something more studio and performance worthy without having to spend too much more than I already have. So for the last 8 years or so I've been playing with these stock passive pickups and a manageable but not reasonable sound as I've continually made adjustments to the overall sound quality I've been striving for. Alas, always wanted to try EMG's because of their reputation and sound quality that I'm afraid to say none can quite compare. Although not direct replacement pickups for an Ibanez 7-string guitar, I personally made some adjustments so the pickups can fit and sit evenly where they're supposed to go. A little wiring and very little soldering (although I had to get a different switch and output jack) and the result is very much like night and day. The moment I plugged in my guitar literally made me want to reset my patches and start my overall sound over again, however, I'm very pleased with the outcome. From the low's to the high's, mid's, just made me realize, take any guitar, put EMG's in them, and you'll know what to work with from that point on and know what to expect. By far, the best purchase I have ever made and no regrets about it. Would I recommend? Hell yeah, baby.
